Complete 3 Snowy Scenarios I know Spirit of Steam: Liverpool - Crewe has one in Worst Winter Of All, 3/5 difficulty, at 1 hour long. I was just wondering if others might know of any easier/shorter ones, that could make knocking out this particular requirement a bit easier?
Using the list provided in the announcement thread, I went through and compiled these as being some of the quickest completions, along with difficulty rating for reference: Birmingham Cross-City - Red, Red Whine 3/5 45 mins Boston Sprinter - Marching In 3/5 40 Mins Long Way Round 2/5 25 mins Cathcart Circle - Dr Snow 3/5 35 mins Harlem Line - Snow Globetrotters 3/5 25 mins
For Mastery challenges like this, I sometimes find the easier or shortest scenario, spam it multiple times and rush it and achieve only a bronze - as it still counts towards the progress. Shameless I know!
You can cheese number of scenarios/timetables completed really easily by making a save right before completion, like the final task or stopping point etc, then once completed and returning to the main menu to log it, just reload and complete until done. This won't help with distance driven, as there's nothing to log on a reloaded save, but it's an option if you're pushed for time, for example.
Thanks. Might go for that as Snow Globetrotters seems to be broken. Get to Mount Vernon Yard, detach the set. Key in at the other end set up cab and signal never clears No other trains in the area and Tab for signaller elicits no response. So that's 25' wasted...
I just played snow globetrotters work fine for me you gotta make sure you get to yard by the time it tells you too
Fair enough. I drive like an old woman. Anyhow jumped across to Sherman, there’s one on there a train rescue scenario which takes about an hour. Should also contribute to the AP and mileage a bit more too.
Well seems this is a stress test of the sim by DTG as just had the second scenario I tried bug out on me, the one on Sherman Hill where you have to take two locos to assist a stalled train. Worked to the failure and coupled up, next objective was wait for the brakes to release which was done, but the objective never stepped forward. So now trying the one on WCMLOS see if any joy with that.
I haven’t had a chance to look but I feel like a lot of the original TSW routes had a snowy scenario included? Plus some of those routes were somewhat shorter services. I have a feeling the old Brighton route has one and those are like 30 minutes start to finish.
I just did the Long Way Round 2/5 25 mins from the Boston Sprinter but it did not register it. (I got the gold medal) ( I know this is the xbox - I did it on PC)
Just need to finish off the AP now. Bit annoyed yesterday as a timetable run on Maintalbahn didn’t complete properly so that was 40 minutes wasted. So currently doing a Watford to Euston DC Line, that should yield over 10k points. If it doesn’t fudge up.
BTW i just want to put out a big thank you to the beta team for helping to rapidly assemble that Snow scenario list for this challenge!
Yes it came in quite handy and, apart from aforementioned Timetable run that didn’t finish properly, provided an opportunity to reacquaint myself with Maintalbahn and the 642 which aren’t half as bad as it was made out to be. Single track but fast running and if you do a RE run, by no means a bus service either. Hopefully one day it will pop up on the list for a SEHS style extension, as from the maps, looks like it gets really scenic beyond Miltenburg.
Hey there Matt, Where is this list that you mentioned? (Or do you mean the list of scenarios you used in-house for this Challenge that was assembled by the B-Team?)
