With US freight routes on hiatus (a pity since freight trains are cool), I'd like to suggest a few possible passenger train routes for TSW5. A few of these routes would require new licensing, which I hope DTG could work out in the future. -Route #1: CB&Q, BN, or BNSF/Metra Chicago Racetrack: -Location: Chicago, Ill Union Station to Aurora, Ill -Length: 37.5 miles -Operators: BNSF RR (formerly BN and CB&Q), Metra Commuter, Amtrak (both Midwest and Long-distance trains) -Special features: high speeds (70mph; that's why it's called the Racetrack), 3-track mainline, busy route with lots of trains, both freight and passenger services -Metra license needed for modern version -Possible locos to include in BNSF/Metra version: BNSF ET44C4, C44-9W, GP39-3, or GP60/M(-3)/B and BNSF freight equipment; Metra F40PHM-3 or F40PH-3; Amtrak Midwest SC44 Charger and Venture Coaches; Amtrak P42DC or ALC-42 Charger w/ SW Chief and California Zephyr Superliner consist -Possible locos for BN version: E9Am and commuter passenger cars, GP39E/M/V rebuilds, SD40-2, C30-7, SD70MAC; plus BN freight cars -Possible locos for CB&Q version: E8 or E9A plus commuter passenger cars, GP30, SD40-2, SD9 -The CB&Q or BN versions of this route would be more likely since DTG doesn't have a Metra license (yet). -Route #2: Brightline/FEC: -Location: Miami-West Palm Beach, Florida -Length: ? -Operators: Brightline, Florida East Coast RR -Special features: high speeds (80mph for passenger trains; 70mph for freights) -Licensing for FEC and Brightline needed -Possible locos: Brightline SCB-40 Charger and Venture Coaches, FEC ES44C4 w/ LNG fuel car, FEC SD40-2/-3, FEC GP40-2/-3, FEC GP38-2/-3; plus FEC freight cars -Route #3: Peninsula Corridor remakes with extensions to Gilroy: -Location: San Francisco-Gilroy, CA -Length: 77.2 miles -Operators: Southern Pacific RR, later Caltrain -Special features: line now electrified, some local freight operations -SP locos: FM H-24-66 Trainmaster, Alco RS-32, Alco S4, EMD GP9 -Caltrain EMU: Stadler KISS -UP (for local freights on modern version of route): SD59MX rebuild (ex-UP SD60M), SD70M, GP60/GP62/GP60E (including SP patched unit), GP38N (included in game already) -Route 4: Amtrak Cascades/Seattle Sounder Commuter: -Location: Everett-Lakewood, WA -Length: 81.8 miles -Operators: BNSF, Amtrak, Seattle Sounder -Special features: Seattle area, Pacific Northwest scenery, high speeds (79mph), freight and passenger trains -Possible locos to include: Cascades SC44 Charger w/ Talgo, Horizon, or Siemens Venture Cars (coming soon), Sounder MP40PH-3C w/ Bombardier Bi-level Commuter Coaches, BNSF ET44C4, BNSF C44-9W, BNSF GP60/M(-3)/B, BNSF GP39-3, BNSF GP50, BNSF SD75M/I (common on Seattle trash and manifest trains), or BNSF SD60M-3 -Amtrak also runs their long-distance Coast Starlight and Empire Builder on this route w/ P42s or ALC-42 Chargers.
I forgot to include everyone's most requested US passenger route: the Pacific Surfliner: LA-San Diego! The busy route also includes some freight operations with BNSF and Coaster Commuter Trains. As for locomotives: BNSF GP60/M-3, ET44C4, and/or C44-9W; Amtrak PS SC44 Charger w/ PS Coaches/Cab Car, and Coaster SC44 Charger w/ Bombardier Bi-level Coaches/Cab Car.
All I want from DTG is either a siemens charger, or the P42. Anything of amtrak that doesn't require me to rely on OHLE.
