To be fair - anything we do will only cater to part of the audience. Think of ANY feature or anything being discussed here, and there will be those who think its the best thing, those who dont care, and those who actively think it's the end of the game for them. In fact, if you can think of something that *doesn't* fall into this trap, do let me know, that'd be interesting Temper your expectations, and if the news ultimately isn't for you then that's fine, you have the rest of the game to enjoy too Personally I think it's pretty damn exciting. Matt.

I mean to be fair to y’all as well i don’t know on what absolutely everyone could be happy about you’re right on that Matt i’d be happy with whatever justifies the hype and “pretty damn exciting” sounds like it’ll be worth it
It's been absolutely brilliant, the great ideas , some really surprising possibilities. Steam Riviera New Rush hour New features for the core Thank you once again Not much longer to wait now. However you choose to celebrate Christmas Have a safe and happy one.
There is never something to please everyone. I do think that the people saying it will be something core like the API or maybe more/better cargo loading in my opinion will add something for literally anyone as it will improve experience in variety, timetables visually if you drive those services or see them when you pass, route quality in general as local industries won't be empty or just static stock. A very cool route or loco or even a new country is in my opinion off the table as those are as diverse as people have opinions. Steam could be a decent shout if it wasn't dropped so hard. but only if announced it will be looked after and for more countries. in train/on platform announcements is my top pick with support for editor mods in the creators club. both have been talked about a lot including by the developers that they want to have it and there are already third parties or others who made it happen. and those also are a benefit for all players. A new company to work with unless it's stadler whose trains are everywhere is something possible but I doubt that too since an operator is always local (unless like NS or ÖBB you get the sister companies like Abellio or Go Ahead with it too which extends the range). but idk how those contracts work. I think this thread is a great place to find things people are really interested in seeing. so for the 20th now you are very excited about it Matt, a joint with Razer to have TSW pink cat ear headphones?
That's what I'm talking about: my gaming life doesn't end just at TSW - I now I'm playing Far Cry 4, Serious Sam 2, Delta Force, Warcraft 3 Reforged and more - I'll do with the purchased 70+ DLC for TSW)))
You know, I probably changed my mind about my opinion that it can be a multiplayer. For multiplayer, everyone must have all the content installed. For example, I have purchased WCML, but I haven't purchased (insert any) Class 92. Where will the locomotive files come from then? But okay, it's just the locomotive. For example, I don't have Brighton Mainline, Goblin and other routes, the rolling stock of which will be used in the timetable. Then I'll have to download a bunch of other add-on files that I won't have access to. It turns out that DTG will either have to separate the rolling stock from the routes(which has already been discussed many times before, and the answer is no). Or distribute all the add-on files to all players(of course you still need to buy them to play), which will significantly increase the game size for some people. Or limit the multiplayer only to trains that come with the route, which the players will not like very much.
My tinfoil sombrero on. I think that either points to multiplayer, signaller/despatcher or possibly subscription. But will we get to completely mangle up Zawierce or Lazy LC..?
I'm calling it, Platform announcements voiced by none other than DTG Matt (with no AI input). And if you hunt around stations, you will find customer information desks, complete with a Matt NPC by the tannoy system equipped with Razer headphones
Can we have some horns/bells from AI after the station/train announcements will be implemented, please? That's the second major thing we missing in terms of audio.
Pretty sure AI horns are coming to GWE Remaster. This would be cool to see on most routes tbh. Fast train not stopping at a platform, boards, crossings, maybe even sporadically when a train leaves a platform - or drives past your train.
I really think it’s something Xmas related. Just have a feeling… I wonder if it’s another fictional Christmas route or something.
The UE5 and multiplayer suggestiins I think are reaching too high. They never said it was going to be a game changer or hyped it to be that big.
Random events in timetable mode such as AI trains departing a bit slower than timetabled meaning no two runs of a service can be guaranteed to be the same with adverse signals or whatever?
That's something i've long since thought would be fantastic and if the game at random could have late running trains (the chance varying per service), would be excellent. How possible this is - I really don't know.
Matt Peddlesden himself posted earlier in this thread why Unreal Engine 5 wouldn't work and why they're not pursuing it at this time.
Performance, I would question. I've played several ue5 titles and performance is all over the place. Bigger routes would also be questionable. There is still a lot of manual route labor that procedural generation would not work for. Ue5 might be new and shiny but it's not really in a good state at the moment
Longer routes would not be a feature to move to UE5 for. There's nothing stopping longer routes in Unreal Engine 4, but nobody has done it because it makes no financial sense to do it.
I remember in one episode Portillo was traveling to York. When he got to York there was no mention of the National railway museum " Great British Something Vaguely To Do With Railway Journeys"
I doubt it, while there has been some discussion on US freight as a whole on TSW, I doubt DTG would make that a big announcement, given how the majority of players (At least on this forum) dont care for it and find it boring. Hell even IRL crews on Class 1's these days find, at least modern times, US freight boring.
I don't think there's anything really stopping it beyond the fact that it could introduce even more cases of stuck services. You can delay AI services yourself by being late, spawning in trains, etc.
Overactive mind… Now there is one possibility I didn’t think of… Buffet car steward, dispensing refreshments like those crazy games on the iPad etc.
I can guarantee they'll be some bashing over questions on route developments, bugs etc. Scrutiny in particular on how even DTG allowed Rivet to develop the WCML South.
I remember years ago going to a Christmas dinner with the boss and my fellow Wales & West Control Shift Managers. Boss arranged it and paid for the wine, only for one of my colleagues to lay into him like a Rottweiler! Cue embarrassed squirms from the other five of us! Not the best time to air your grievances…
Would’ve preferred JT to develop the WCML, since they would’ve made the route longer. Wasn’t expecting a full run to Birmingham like in TSC, but definitely not MK as a finishing point. With JT we might have had Coventry. Guess we’ll never know now.
I normally crash out of those games after about 40 seconds. Of course Travellers’ Fare would not have that many options for menu items. Pork pie, apple pie, sandwich and MaxPax Tea or Coffee. PEGI rating probably precludes Harp Lager or McEwans Export which were the staple beers on offer. Maybe Ruddles County in a tin (yuck) depending which part of the country you were in.
So far I am fairly content with the reveals because we have a new route in the Mildmay Line, I think that was the minimum expectation for me (even though the line is far from my number 1 preference). I am hoping the big reveal on Friday will be a completely new route or the return of steam, that would make the whole thing epic for me. Especially if it (a new route) is the Riviera line. Hoping to see some news on the NYMR/Esk Valley line in development too.
A TSW version of Riviera in the 50’s would be fantastic for sure! Though it would require follow-up of GWR loco DLC to fill in a timetable
