Might work if we were able to replace brakes pads on class 43 in a workshop for example Being able to do a maintenance walk around, might be nice for some, not sure it'd appeal to everyone
I'm still hoping for a reworked ECML route that is Peterborough to York (so adding Doncaster to York to what we already have).. maybe with or without a new Class 91. having experienced the new WCML Preston to Carlisle, having the ECML route terminate at a big station like York would really make it feel complete and so much more rewarding, so that's my number one wish for Friday The reveal could also be having various cats added into all routes like on BCC and ECML as standard, i mean the reveal could just be about anything at this point!
That Trans Siberian game has the ability to swap out defective components on your loco, but I couldn’t gell with a train sim which encourages you to drink alcohol when driving a train, eat food or you die all of which has to be paid for. Oh and kill NPC opponents in the RPG mode (though not with a RPG).
Not familiar Vern Ha ha encouraging drink driving on 400 ton mass of machinery. Operating the loco/consist is what I like,I've not tried conducting yet. The ECML has the full maintenance depot outside Sunny Doncaster. I don't know whether it was a silly idea,I know the 3d modeling can stand close scrutiny. Edit I've just read the update on Manchester airport commuter; looks like we're in for a bit of maintenance with the route.
I bought Trans Siberian (twice) and refunded it (twice). I mean the concept seemed interesting but the idea of a fairly complex traction simulation (dealing with neutral sections makes anything in TSW look easy) with silly survival and combat elements is fundamentally flawed. The route itself was laid quite roughly, gradients and transitions worse than Marias Pass in MSTS and only seems driveable in the snow plus raging blizzard. If it drops to a fiver in the Xmas sale might go for a third time, but got better things I can be putting on my HD.
My original guess was an extension for the Holiday Express with the track heading out into the garden. I’m sticking with this as a possibility but it could be a successor to the Holiday Express with a separate route in a similar style. I don’t think having two separate Christmas themed DLC routes would be a good idea but having one bigger route would make for a much better experience all round. So an elf-stension to the Holiday Express route is my final answer. How much would I be willing to bet on it? One mince pie (the cheapest mince pie you can find) and one brandy snap with no filling. I’m that confident
Perhaps it's a surprise route remaster complete with a new timetable made from scratch, say one of the German routes. Munich Augsburg would be a nice one imo.
tadami line need some wait - kiha 40 interior is not finish class 86 no release date... now I need is : High Floor Dosto !!! (still waiting since tsw2) I dont care what route it is , when it release > I must buy !
You might get a new timetable, but unless you handcuff DTG Liam to the office radiator, I don't think a remaster is on the cards.
Yeah that makes sense actually. Also Matt said they have been wanting to announce this “reveal” for a long time so maybe it isn’t Christmas related at all…. I can’t make my mind up lol…. A new country with a route and loco (obviously) that’s been in the works maybe. Maybe it’s Australia or Italy or…. Somewhere . A lot of people on here have been crying out for Australia to make its debut into TSW so who knows.
Moss Vale to Goulburn with the various freight spurswould be nice, or the scenic line from Moss Vale to Unanderra. Yes, I've been dabbling with the SimSig NSW route... Problem is, going to need loads of new rolling stock to be viable, XPT, two types of DMU, various freight locos and the stock to go with them.
With a couple of exceptions ( F59PHR, Class 86 ), the Reveal Season has been somewhat underwhelming so far. We need something exciting to whip up that holiday spirit. Sorry stujoy but another walz around the living room carpet ain't gonna do it. Gotta be something none of us are expecting. Like an Amtrak train set or a Class 55 consist with appropriate scenarios.
Especially at this cold time of year, the announcement of an Italian route would be a nice warm news. Italy has many very beautiful and iconic routes to offer and a new route with a real mediterranean flair would be really something. The last TGV route, nicknamed Mediterranean, didn't really have a mediterranean feel, even if the preview images should offer that.
Been thinking about this again today. Not seen anyone mention licensing. How about a reveal that they have secured 3 or 4 major licenses that will now be available for future route releases, but will also include stock reskin DLCs, like they did for the 66, Engineering Express. Freightliner, GBRf, Colas and Virgin. That could then release a load more train classes that were only found under certain operators. That would be an 'exciting announcement' for most I think.
The more I think about it the more I think we’ll be getting some sort of iconic route we don’t have yet, something like the settle and Carlisle, west highland or riviera line. I fear I am setting myself up for massive disappointment though!
The way I see it is anything such as a loco or route is a standard announcement, despite how amazing a Deltic in TSW would be (especially if it features in a new era appropriate ECML route rather than preservation!) This is why my gut feeling really wants to go with the return of steam. It’s something that DTG could’ve secretly been working on for sometime now. New route, reworked physics and manual firing. It’s certainly something worthy of a big reveal TSW version of Riviera line in the 50’s would be utterly fantastic! The only other thing that springs to mind is some sort of core update, or something like multiplayer. Though DTG have previously said they couldn’t get it to work with TSW. Unless it becomes its own game like TSW VR?
Good spot. Now I'm thinking that a Metra license would be a great reveal. Would open up a part of the US which has not featured in TSW.
Or even Septa would be nice to see. If there was a Septa and CTRail license, the whole NEC can be featured without any licensing issues
I'd love the Settle and Carlisle but apparently if it wasn't steam era it wouldn't have as much variety or traffic? I was watching one of the JT streams and someone suggested it and Tom said something along the lines of it's very quiet in the more modern eras and in his opinion it would be best as a steam era route which was interesting to hear.
If it were new steam content, then it would be fair for the German (or USA) area to get a steam locomotive, as there are already several English locomotives but no German (or USA) steam locomotive.
I think it's the new German loco DLC, a route would be nice but for this type of announcement they had to put something inside the roadmap before, instead reveal now a route or an extension with other route just developed..... And anyone wonder why they announced this DLC and postponed it till now?
Thought I've saw a "new German loco DLC" in the October o November roadmap.... Maybe I'm misread the article but I'm quite sure they put this too other the 420... But it's also nice have some information about this one
I can’t see a new TOC licensing deal being a special surprise they’ve been waiting to tell us for a long time. That’s admin for their side of development and not something for us. A new license would just be revealed as part of a normal route announcement and nothing special. It’s not that. However… It did give me a bit of a lightbulb moment though. If it’s a particular licensing partnership that brings a certain Thomas the Tank Engine to the game then that would definitely be a big reveal. Come to think of it, that’s exactly what it is, isn’t it? It’s staring us in the face, the most famous train of all time, Thomas the Tank Engine. I’ve definitely cracked it this time. It’s Thomas in TSW, and if you’re thinking that would require the steam physics to be finished then I’m not sure it does. If it’s aimed mainly at children, which it will be, it will have the same physics as the train in the Holiday Express route, like a toy train set. Anyway, I’m retracting all previous guesses and previous final answers I may have given and going with this now. I’m betting two luxury mince pies and two brandy snaps with cream filling on this guess.
Aye fair enough , I actually think Vern's Riviera route might be a real possibility, and likely closer to the actual reveal.
Or maybe they dusted off Flight Sim World and actually going to finish making it? In all seriousness that wouldn’t be a bad thing, given the massive behemoth that MSFS 2020 and now 2024 turned into. All I ever wanted was a better FSX.
Well in the present day it would be a great opportunity for more Class 66 action They could also reskin a 158 which would fit in nicely, other than that it'd just be railtours unless they make a 156. A 1980s version with leccy drags would be brilliant but not going to happen :/
The Holiday Express train didn't have toy train physics, IIRC it was just a copy-paste of the Clinchfield F7. Besides, assuming it was proper Thomas and not the AEG LOVE the primary audience would be older fans who would want a more realistic experience.
While I would genuinely love to see Thomas in the game, it would also need Gordon, Percy etc. to be worthwhile, and all service runs would have to have a voice intro by Ringo Starr.
to be outright honest personally im hoping for a german high speed line to be revealed. I feel underwhelmed with the 2 we have, SKA is only a short HSL and KWG although long they've advertised it as 280kph when in reality in service mode your mostly limited to 250kph. Bit underwhelming for me. So personally iam hoping for Nurnberg-Ingolstad or SFS KRM to be revealed. (if they make KRM i'll buy that in a heartbeat)
l’d love to see Moss Vale to Port Kemble with a steam train. I once sat in the engine cab on this journey as a kind invite from the driving crew. Really exciting ride too! One l will never forget!
