Hi DTG Liam , Is there a list of which layers will be on this route please? Seen there is a sale on PS, so keen to pick up some things. AFAIK, WSR, BML, DLotGW, Cargo Line 2 among others? Thank you
It's way too early to confirm layers. Currently, but not a confirmation, would be IoW 2022, WCML, Flying Scotsman, Brighton mainline, WCMLoS, Cargo line vol 1 + 2, RHTT and maybe SEH. Maybe more maybe less but for now that's what's in my head
Thanks both - guessing that IOW is not this one - https://store.playstation.com/en-gb/product/EP2866-PPSA23364_00-TSW5ISLEOFWIGHT0
No it's the one with the class 484 - this gets reskinned into a D-stock running on the Hammersmith and City Line through Paddington and the District Line at Ealing Broadway
So, this has nothing to do with this thread. I am more curious whether you are the one who made those slick and cool looking loco avatars? I remember some time ago I came across a post here where someone (you?) posted a thread showing off different locos as avatars. Like the one you are using. Any chance to redirect me to that thread/page?
All credit goes to Schmalf - https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/tsw-inspired-drawings.79753/. The link has the avatars you are looking for
In fact, my huge respectuge respect to Liam - he is probably the only one from the entire office who answers as honestly and openly as possible (no falsehood)
The circle line has two different sections at paddington. The outside next to platform 14 is the one going towards Edgware Road. And the other one is downstairs heading towards Hammersmith via Edgware road (not the exact Edgware road as they are both to completely different buildings in the same location)
Hi, Both Circle Line Stations at Paddington go to the same Edgware Road, it's the Bakerloo that has it's own separate station just up the road. 1 is Platforms 15 & 16 (next to 14, also H&C) serving trains to Hammersmith (parallel to GWML to Westbourne Park) and the via King's Cross City then back around to Paddington via Victoria. The other was originally called Praed Street and is across the road from the main station (also District) serving trains the 1 stop to Edgware Road and the City via Victoria, then via King's Cross and Paddington (15/16) to Hammersmith. It changed in December 2009 so the Circle line is no longer a Circle or a Loop. It was done to double the trains per hour between Hammersmith (C, H&C) and Edgware Road (C, D, H&C)
Does that mean the Flying Scotsman layer is dependent on the WCML over Shap route? That would be very unfortunate because that’s literally the most expensive route in the game, and it just released a short while ago. So not a lot of players own it, which would severely limit access to the Flying Scotsman layer. I completely understand that you want the best and most recent version of the Class 47 on the route, but a solution to give way more players access to the layer would be to actually make it dependent on one of the older routes containing the 47 (WSR, NTP or BPO - two of which were even released or remastered during the TOD4 era, so the rolling stock quality would be completely fine). You could then enable substitution for all the other 47s, and give the WCMLoS 47 a 100% AI substitution chance. So if a player owns WCMLoS, they will always see that version of the 47. But other players that only own the older routes will still get access to the layer, too.
Oh no - this didn't cross my mind :/ DTG Liam If there was any way to set up substitution as suggested above by TimTri this would be really good. The WSR 47 for example is really nice and the livery would go well with the train. I don't own WCMLOS and am unlikely to ever unless it is on a crazy sale in which case I may purchase for AI stock.
It would be great if they used BPO. JT exhaust effects are, by far, much more realistic than the older DLCs. I did ask on the WCML thread, in the Q section, can the JT emissions be put onto non JT DLC. It never got answered. To me the fact that it exists and rolls around the loco when at the stations adds a massive amount to the immersion. It looks next generation graphically, by comparison, to what the class 20, 37 or HST puts out. Would be great to see if Liam or someone at DTG dig into how they utilise it and is it easy to retrofit?
I agree that the JT 47s are great based on what I've seen, but substitution is still important for those of us who don't have them. Would love it if they could retrofit it onto the other 47s - unsure if this would happen though.
Have you considered 350’s as 450’s in and around the Reading are by any chance? Generic livery most likely, but the 350’s are dual voltage aren’t they?
When will the remaster be done and available really looking forward to it playing the route and it feels a bit dated and quite .
I can't remember exactly what I've done at this point but things like the AWS systems have all been updated to latest tech I did try it and it works well. But due to possible performance issues I'm avoiding the 350 on GWE for now while work continues but it's not ruled out.
Hi DTG Liam It's all sounding amazing. I hope they're giving you a holiday after all this excellent work.
Was third rail at Reading on the original GWE does anyone know? Didn't notice it prior. Didn't even know 450s went there irl till now, but would be cool to see a reskinned 350 - I like the livery on those trains a lot. Just seems kinda chill with the blue
Music to my ears! Perhaps not for yours though.. as I’m pedalling for a BML remaster with 350’s as 450’s, as some basic (but more realistic) ai traffic around Clapham. All things considered however, especially with the performance issues!
Yeah they’ve been running suburban services for yonks now! Not sure about the third rail on GWE, but there was certainly the 4 (I believe) vacant platforms where they would have been.
There used to be a separate station (Reading Southern) for third-rail services to Waterloo, but it was combined with Reading General (Platforms 4A and B) in 1965. I haven't checked to see if the third rail is represented in the game.
I can't remember exactly what it was like before the remaster but I believe the 3rd rail was a fake prop at Reading. That's all be removed and replaced with a working 3rd rail system along with track height adjustments for the track going under the mainline at Reading. Means 3rd rail trains can be used at Reading and trains using the underpass no longer clip the tunnel ceiling.
I think GWE is looking to be the best release of 2025 for me... So as always Liam a big thank you to yourself and the team behind the scenes working on this! It's a shame paid resources aren't put into extending the route to Oxford as I could easily see this drawing in revenue and profit by being a best seller!
It's certainly sounding that way, almost like a new route. And the original is pretty good to begin with, especially when you count the DLOTGW locos. I hope they're still there as a layer. I hope this isn't the last " old " route to get a face lift. TVL and NTP are waiting in the wings.
Went for a jaunt down GWE a few nights ago actually and I think the route stands up fairly well in my opinion. For an old the route the stations look good, the clutter is nice and I was a fair amount of traffic (maybe not prototypical) but definitely enjoyable! This remaster might well stick it up there among the best!
Hey Liam Just wanted to say thankyou for Taking the time and updating our existing DLC you deserve a pay rise sir. Just to make you aware I almost forgot about it it was so long ago But The Guided Journey 1C23 Paddington to Reading Gives you the green from Go Then you get a red light at a gantry signal Then a class 166 pulls up to the same gantry same track and you end in a staredown unable to move Would be amazing if I could complete this journey mode and thanks again for your work Remastering UK routes How about TVL next with a Pacer and Class 47 layers added in?
You can complete that journey go into live map and remove the train blocking your path i know some people dont like to do that but its a work around
U know what id completely overlooked that I didn't think it worked in Journey Mode Thankyou very much
Unfortunately, Liam explained that gwe would be the last dlc he would remaster. These remasters are a lot of work and effort at the end of the day done in their own free time
That's a shame I feel like a go fund me should be started to pay for anyone who does overtime on Remastering older routes Shame it isn't in the initial business plan to do so but I know a lot of businesses just can't get the staff
