I am new to trains and Train Sims. I would like to see the Baldwin diesels. The Baldwin RF16 Sharknose , RF615 E1, and centipede look amazing. The also represent the fall of a locomotive empire in its last gasp. A Baldwin family of locos would be. Great IMO.
Baldwins are pretty cool, although they weren't the most successful diesel locomotives in the US. Train Sim Classic already has a few Baldwin locos, including the PRR Centipede, RF-16 Sharknose A/B, and DR6-4-2000 Passenger Shark A/B. The B&O Mountain Sub includes an RF-16 Sharknose A/B too. I would love to see a DRS-6-6-1500 like the operational Magma Arizona #10 unit in Chandler, Arizona's AZ RR Museum and a Baldwin switcher (maybe a VO1000). The Santa Fe and Western Pacific both operated a few Baldwin diesels in yard service. The NYC also had RF-16s. A few Baldwin diesels, like the aforementioned Magma Arizona #10 DRS-6-6-1500, are still operational. By the way, when they did the recordings for their O-Scale Centipede diesels, Lionel Trains recorded Magma Arizona #10. Another interesting fact: in 1970, Santa Fe rebuilt a Baldwin VO1000 with an EMD prime mover (that was common for some railroads that rostered Baldwin diesels). I've seen the "Beep" (Baldwin Geep) at the Western America RR Museum in Barstow, CA.
There is also the Baldwin AS616 by Diesel Workshop, it's a superb model available in SP (4 liveries), Soo, UP and EFCB (a Brazilian railway) liveries. Currently on sale until the New Year : https://www.dieselworkshop.net/
Thanks for the reply. Yea, I tend to avoid the most popular things and usually gravitate to the less popular stuff lol. F3/7/9 no, Baldwin yes lol.
