Hmm tempted by Hamburg U Bahn or Frankfurt S Bahn, any suggestions? I'm also thinking about London - Birmingham (Chiltern) and possibly the Aylesbury extenstion from Just Trains - is it any good?
I bought the Shasta route and B&O Morgantown and Kingwood , bought Fife Circle for 2.99 , 2 Just trains routes Devon and ECML edinburg new castle , and 1 german route
I've just purchased the the route from JT. JT 33 scenarios vs Steam 18 scenarios. 8 of the Scenarios of the JT and Steam versions are quick drive and free roam.
Yes, you get way more content from JT directly. Steam's advantage is the 2 hour refund window though, allowing you to test. You won't need it.
RSSLO Sale now on - quoting up to 50% OFF but most are in the 25%-35% range Hurry, offer valid until 31.12.2024! https://www.rsslo.com/
Forge Simulation also have a sale until Jan 2nd (I think) https://new.theforgesimulation.co.uk/ Some of the locos are now very good value. I've got a couple of the German steamers and I can recommend them. They are similar to Bossman in terms of quality and functionality. If you want some German steam muscle then check them out. They also have some UK stuff.
Ignoring the price, can anyone tell me if there any benefit to buying direct from RSSLO instead of Steam. Thinking of getting Salzburg - Schwarzach St Viets as I enjoyed travelling on it on holiday a couple of years ago.
l always buy from RSSLO as it’s their product and the customer service is superb. If they expand the route as they have done with many, then you cannot do this with the steam version.
I always thought the Steam versions could be expanded. The revision notes to the extension packs make reference to now including the Steam versions. Also, some of the Steam route packs contain payware locos not in the RSSLO versions.
If they are written by RSSLO then they 'may' be able to be expanded. This is not guaranteed to enable one of the multiple 'Combine' routes. I have one of these working from a Steam/RSSLO DLC. During sales, however, it is cheaper to purchase from RSSLO (typical Steam markup). It does require manual downloads rather than Steam integration.
Thanks to all that replied. The one I want is actually slightly cheaper on Steam at the moment, but there isn’t a lot in it. So I’ll probably get it direct from RSSLO.
If you are interested I have a lot of these now documented on my WEB Site: https://sites.google.com/view/trainsimulatorcontent/europe-routes
Thanks, that’s really useful. I’ve never really ventured much outside of Switzerland and the UK in TSC and Austrian content looks the mos interesting. I’ll start making a shopping list.
I think you need to check your prices - the Steam Full Price is almost the same as the RSSLO Sale price Salzburg to Schwarzach-St. Veit - RSSLO - 29,99 € 23,99 € Steam £24.99 £17.49 Arlbergbahn - RSSLO 30,99 € 24,79 € Steam £24.99 £17.49 Most of the RSSLO routes went up in price and are now reduced to the Steam full price
Ah Peter - always wanting to point out exactness - My general answer was 'Most are cheaper via RSSLO' Taking that 1.04 Euro = $1 they are similar in value (as of now) DLC Steam RSSLO Salzburg - Rosenheim $27.99 E15.00 Rudolfsbahn: Bruck an der $24.99 E27.99 Munchen - Ingolstadt Route $29.99 E23.99 Wien - St. Pölten Route $20.99 E19.99 Ennstalbahn: Bishofshofen $27.99 E19.99 Karawankenbahn $27.99 E29.99 (not in sale) - I got in previous sale at reduced price and so on. Some are cheaper in Steam just now some are cheaper in RSSLO. Some are not even available in Steam just now such as Drautalbahn Route Freilassing - Linz route (extension) München - Nürnberg (Extension) Ingolstadt - Treuchtlingen S-Bahn S1 München Salzburg - Mühldorf Route Combine - Bayerischen Maximiliansbahn Combine - Südbahn Combine - Western Austria Combine: Linz - Ingolstadt Combine: Ljubljana - Salzburg All in all in my humble opinion it is better to procure direct via RSSLO to ensure compatability Respectfully
kilt46 except the pound is currently = 1.20 euros. We won't get quite that rate, but it's still noticably better than the value you used. So Steam will be cheaper, where the product is available.
This may be true. I live in the US so from my perspective it is cheaper. (Originally from Glasgow in the UK). Each to their own perspective.
But I'm not buying in Dollars and for those that are buying in Pounds Using your examples but with corrected prices to £. DLC Steam RSSLO Salzburg - Rosenheim £17.49 €15.00 Rudolfsbahn: Selzthal to Bruck £20.99 €27.99 Munchen - Ingolstadt Route £17.49 €23.99 Wien - St. Pölten Route £17.49 €19.99 Ennstalbahn: Bishofshofen £17.49 €19.99 Karawankenbahn £27.99 €29.99 Maybe you should have mention that "for buyers in the US" RSSLO is sometimes cheaper.
For buyers in the US typically Max Prices on Steam for RSSLO products are around $39.99 and direct from RSSLO are E36.99. Some of these products are not available from Steam. Sales are sales, you find what you find. In general if you live anywhere outside of the UK then most likely you will benefit from procuring direct from RSSLO. On a side note I wonder what percentage of TSC players are from the UK (and prefer to see things in pounds) versus those who live in the rest of the world?
Which is why in my original question I specifically said ‘apart from price’. In Switzerland Steam apply a 30% surcharge on top of US prices. So RSSLO and Steam are generally pretty similar. Thanks for all the answers. Didn’t intend to start an argument! Will be purchasing the route from RSSLO as a Christmas Present to myself.
Strangely enough mine still reflects the reduced price - it might be as I have the 377/379 EP already? Gonna get it whilst I have the chance lol!
I think there is probably an agreement with DTG in that regard that I cannot guess details of, but someone else once mentioned not being able to give a better price due to that publishing agreement.
Always buy JT from JT. Never from Steam. 1. More scenarios using other stock than the ELAP 166 and HST. 2. All the cash goes to JT and DTG don't get their publisher cut which they get from Steam sales. 3. No incorrectly packed .ap files which cause crashes on many Steam/DTG published JT routes. 4. DTG don't process all updates they get from JT (see 3CC and SWEXR)
Will there be a Lunar New Year sale this year? If so it should begin this week! January 29 will mark the beginning of Lunar New Year. Celebrations will continue until February 12, when the full moon appears.
Some game publishers started their Lunar New Year sale on Steam already on Thursday last week and some other started their sale today. Likely there will join some other publishers on Monday doing it as a week-long or 2 weeks long sale, but there will be no big Steam-wide Lunar New Year sale like it used to be in the past. Festival of Rail usually happened around that time, too, but not always exactly when the Lunar New Year happened. There are no DTG live streams scheduled for this week, so Festival of Rail may actually be coming later this year. Maybe Chinese and Japanese routes will get discounted starting from this Monday.
The next Steam major sale is the spring sale although there is a Lunar sale on now. See this link. Steam Sale Dates · When is the Next Steam Sale? · Countdown and History · SteamDB
Lunar Sale is a bit hit and miss. I was looking to see if the £6 deal was on the Dirt Rally 2.0 GOTY special edition but still full price as of last night.
Get 33% off with code "DTWinter" on all add-ons we sell. Enter code at checkout. Ends 11th Feb 2025 2359hrs.
This is the start of DTG’s Festival of Rail over this weekend from today through to the 10th and the last four years there has been a sale of TSC products so hopefully this year too. We will see what happens at 6utc.

WOW - broken from day 1 Leeds Huddersfield Line now at the price it probably should of been to start with! Got 5 or 6 DLC on my wishlist, none of which have 90% discounted off. Would be interested to know the logic how DTG select the DLC for sales and the discounts applied, or if its completely random!
Does anyone know what comes with TSC 2024? Most of the info is about the Deluxe edition I can see from the Splash Screen it has Leipzig Dresden, Crewe - Holyhead and an Amtrak Route. It is the cheap way to get Crewe - Holyhead
