Though now Thomas is coming, it means some sort of increasement of the amount of steam loco's. However I wouldn't see myself driving a 0-6-0 engine in Thomas Livery along the Peak Forrest Route with the respective coaches working a local service. Rather I would like to see a 4MTT with the Mansual Surburan coaches running that route in addition to the present services provided respectively. Since DTG struggles with a proper working injector/waterpump, I wonder when the next steamer will arrive and when will there be an major update on the present steamers with all instruments and features working. This includes a distinctive way of working the steamer as a fireman should do. So far it still shovels far too much instead of the regular 6 scopes every 2 - 3 minutes. Thus far there is still no indication the fireman operates the injectors and valves as in real life. Let alone the manual operation of the injectors and valves respectively. An other example is the Flying Scotsman with a non-working Yellow AWS rose which remains visible after acknowledging. For me personally it is my reason not to drive that engine because of this major failure and DTG doesn't pay any attention to solve this issue. Neither does DTG solve the issue with the entrance doors at the footplate of the 3F in the Peak Forrest route. A part of the door remains closed whilst opening. It doesn't block the entrance but the view is so weird. (@PS5 console) You just walk through a "closed" door onto the footplate. When will we have the next steam route, when will there be some German routes with steamers and diesels only such as the last route in operation on German soil between Rheine and Emden with some major famous engines like the Class 01, 41, 44, 50 and 86 working that route called the "Emslandstrecke" With a V200 or 01 working an express train. A double headed class 44 with "Lange Heinrich" ore train. DTG recreated the "Peak Forrest" and the "Spirit of Steam" routes so why can't they do so with some major German steam routes as well? An other example: Since the coming of the Flying Scotsman there should be an opening in further development of the streamlined A4 class. And what about the post war engines? none of the post war engines has been created so far for TSW#. How about the release of the 4MT, 5MT, 7MT and 9F?. You see the same issue with diesels as well. I issued a suggestion some time ago to create and release class 55 Deltic. One of the major mainline diesels ever constructed and nothing is announced about it. The stuff that comes towards TSW# is all far to modern. The balance between historic and moderns is far off. Modern is nice but it is way too much. There is no balance at all. I would like to see at least 6 more steam loco's to come such as the A4 Class, Britannia Class, Evening Star, Caste Class, King Class, Grange Class, 4MT and 4MTT. Let DTG change their mindset and fully develop the steam locomotive with far more features and operation skills for the best experience and either player. Have a wonderful Christmas and the Signaller gives the road towards a peaceful and steam powered 2025.....!
Sadly there has been no indication from DTG that Thomas is other than a money making gimmick and that any grown up return to steam traction in TSW is being contemplated. Think this will be something repeatedly asked on the Q&A for the Thomas release stream, when it eventually appears.
I'm still hoping for US steam, especially the UP Big Boy #4014, Challenger #3985, FEF3 #844, ATSF Northerns #3751 and #2926, PRR K4, T1 Duplex, H10, J1, L1, I1, B6sb, S1, Q1, and Q2, N&W J, Y6b, K, and Class A, Milwaukee Road Class A and F7, NYC Hudson, Niagara, and Mowhawk, SP #4449, NKP #765, and PM #1225.
That's up to Dovetail to revive Train Sim World Steam Loco DLC's and Routes. I would like to see Steam Loco's be apart of Train Sim World.
I imagine that after all the negative feedback regarding steam physics etc... dtg are now looking toward an audience that won't moan about it continuously.
With Thomas coming at some point this year dtg may look to get more Steam in to tsw. Away from dtg any 3rd party could do Steam or are working on steam
I ran a poll recently where between 40-50% (albeit a relatively small sample size) of TSW players who answered said they want to see more steam locos in the sim. To me that is too many for DTG to ignore and they should strive to overcome the challenges faced so far or at least settle for a compromise in some way.
I feel like although the steam physics aren’t the best, most people will be willing to put up with it to see more steam in the game. Of course there will be people who hate it but I think the majority would happily see more steam locomotives for TSW. Like where is Tornado or Sir Nigel Gresley for the UK? I would love to see either of those locos added for realtors etc.
100%. I would take the Flying Scotsman physics and just apply it to a full range of mainline steam trains. I just wish they could fix the sound, that I don't believe needs the physics looking at. Dutchess of Southerland please.
