Unfortunately, it seems that Cathcart circle has been the latest victim of blurry textures. I started an anticlockwise service with the class 380, and everything was fine until just before Pollocksheilds West, when the textures went blurry as if by magic. They remained blurry until the approach back into Glasgow Central, when everything returned to normal. It is also worth noting that I installed the class 385 and 158, so there were quite a lot more trains at Glasgow Central.
Same on PS5. The problem is getting worse on more and more routes. Now also happens on Edinburgh-Glasgow since the last 158 Timetable update.
I’m sure DTG will be giving it the utmost priority when they return to work some time in January… Drop the ball. Devote most of the last two or three days at work shoving Thomas in our faces. Then go off on holiday.
I experienced the same problem on Edinburgh-Glasgow on Xbox Series X. The blurry textures seem triggered by the Azuma layer.
That’s happening on almost every Scottish routes, like they were cursed. It’s definitely because of the latest patch who broke things as usual. I’ve never experienced blurry textures on these routes before (Cathcart and Glasgow-Edinburgh). I’m on PS5.
I uninstalled East Coast Main Line and the problem disappeared. Memory problems handling the Azuma, apparently (the same happened with the Pendolino until the latest patch).
It is either triggered by the Azuma or the Pendolino (or both). I had the problem as a Pendolino passed me in Edinburgh.
I get it on series x also. Cathcart and edinburgh to glasgow routes. Now also textures on wcml south.
All routes with OHLE have performance issues... It's the reason WCML South and WCML Preston to Carlisle crash often. All those overhead wires and gantries seriously hit performance, and I'm guessing it may be responsible for blurry textures and other route degradation. Sucking-up all your consoles VRAM like a hoover, and taking resources away from everything else that needs it. Routes without miles of OHLE don't suffer half as much. Series X only has 10GB usable VRAM Series S only has 8GB usable VRAM.
Interesting theory, as running Maintalbahn a few evenings ago virtually no stutters or sound hitches. Apart from Aschaffenburg and immediate area, no OHLE.
Xbox series x has 13.5gb usable ram for games as only 2.5gb is reserved for os as for series S it only 7.5 usable for games. Ps5 has the same 13.5gb for games. The problem is optimisation I also assume some memory leaks as well which my also be a cause of the crashes and blurry textures.
I reinstalled the Azuma and no blurred textures so far on Edinburgh-Glasgow. Maybe it's GWE? I had GWE installed when the problem occurred (then I uninstalled it). Other layers are on (Fife Circle, Class 158, Flying Scotsman, Pendolino, Class 380) and everything looks fine now. Maybe is not just one DLC triggering the problem, but the amount of DLCs installed.
Nope. Series X has 16GB VRAM total, but 6GB is reserved for OS and system tasks. You have to remember that VRAM is shared memory between graphics and system, and while the Series X can theoretically use 13.5GB for running games, it is capped at 10GB by default. In my understanding(from different sources) consoles have no RAM, just VRAM, which are used as RAM. 6 GB - are used as VRAM, but 10 GB are used as RAM. So consoles have 6 GB of VRAM, which is not enough in modern days for high resolution.
I think the problem on Cathcart is the 801. I disabled the layer and the textures didn't blur as I left Glasgow Central. Haven't tried the same for Edinburgh Glasgow yet.
It seems to be what ever stock has a graphical PIS in the train. If its just a simple text only PIS we don't get the blurry textures. So if you remove what ever extra layers that has that type of stock it stops it on the routes that are affected. There seems to be a memory leak with the advance PIS systems. I know Matt has been actively looking for a solution to this as he has DM'd me a few times in regards to this. The only problem is the game does not remember what layers you remove so you have to reset it everytime you run the route.
Yeah I think that's most trains apart from the 314 and 385. I also disabled the 390 and 350 and that seemed to stop it.
From a website windows central are not reliable Unified 16GB GDDR6 RAM The console's memory solution has a 16GB GDDR6 shared unified memory pool on a custom 320-bit interface, comprised of 6x 2GB GDDR6 chips alongside 4x 1GB GDDR6 chips, delivering a throughput of 14GB/sec memory throughput. The memory is pooled into two different performance tiers: Optimal - 62% of the memory, or 10GB, runs at at a supercharged 560GB/sec for higher-end loads like graphics processing. Normal - 6GB of the memory hits 336GB/sec, or regular speeds, and is expected to power CPU and other applications through the pipeline. 2.5GB of the normalized GDDR6 memory pool is reserved for the operating system, and 3.5GB will be available for games. Xbox Series X architect Andrew Newsome told Digital Foundry this multi-perf memory pool was the only way the system could actually ship. A random nobody posting on an internet forum, lecturing me on which internet sources are or aren't reliable? You're funny. Anyway, you forgot to mention the part where going over 10GB VRAM usage causes dramatic performance and stability issues with the console and OS. Developers stay within the 10GB VRAM limit, because going over it causes more issues than it solves, and is just not worth the headache. https://www.neogaf.com/threads/expl...-xs-memory-configuration-performance.1653684/
And who are you a somebody? The Xbox series x has more then a enough ram for tsw5 it just needs some optimisation on memory allocation look at other games for example Alan wake 2 hellblade very demanding games but are fine. but the series s is a problem on ram
because the series s simply isn’t a great console. when gen 8 is inevitably left behind much consideration will be taken as to whether to carry the series s along or leave it as well
