Moving with normal speed inside locos feels too fast most of the time. It would be nice to have ability to move slow, when it needs to. About half of normal speed seems to be alright.

not totally out of question, but then, they would have to add more time at the start of services so you have time to prepare... there are locos where you have to disembark, walk to the other cab, embark, turn on some stuff, and back again, like German BR 218 or 103 locos... where if you had normal, more realistic walk speed, you wouldnt be able to leave on time :)

It could be three moving speeds: run, walk and slow walk. We have the first two. Slow walk can be activated with some key, like Alt for instance. No need to change anything in scenarios.

This is already possible on consoles (and I’m guessing on PC when using a controller) where the player can walk or run at any speed up to the maximum allowed by varying the amount of stick input. It is the most use when walking through a passenger coach when full speed walk can cause lots of bumping into stuff, so I can understand the desire for it on PC keyboard too. It would just require a modifier key to slow the pace so shouldn’t be too difficult to implement. I sometimes like to slow right down when approaching collectables too so I can see the ‘before’ state before the change triggers, which isn’t possible if you barrel up to them at full speed. I believe crouching limits the speed you can walk too but even as a workaround for slower walking on PC wouldn’t be ideal.

There is a setting which dictates whether your avatar walks or runs.

Matt did say in a stream that walking was originally a more realistic speed, but that was way too slow in practice, so it was sped up to make walking around the map more engaging.

Sure, but we are talking here about third movement setting, which would be useful inside cabs - slow walking.

Walking speed is ok outside, only inside cabs it is too fast. In Run8, for intance, there are 3 movement speeds too, sprint is activated with Ctrl key modifier. For those of us who wants to play realistically it is a real pain to bump into everything inside cabs.
