Tell me I did alright; München - Augsburg Hamburg - Lübeck Berninalinie Arosalinie + anniversary collection Cathcart Circle For a total of $70. I was looking into New York - Trenton and Glossop Line also, considering they were like $5 and $7 respectively, but decided not to get them after watching some reviews.
My opinion: You did good with Berninaline, Hamburg Lübeck and Cathcart Circle. If you like old stuff, get the Br 218 for Hamburg as its a really well made diesel engine and adds much to the route. Should be in the sales in the near future too. München Augsburg is meh, its not good scenery wise, Munich hbf has some issues, the timetable is bad, the route has tod3 and the stock is available in other routes too, like FTF and KWG. Not to mention the performance issues. I dont have or know much about Arosaline, altough its said to be bad scenery wise. Im not completely sure but as far as i know and heard, NYT has an extreme amount of wrong signalling on the route. Thats why i didnt pick it up too.
also got Cathcart, relatively short services like 30mins, but big variety of pathings, which also means a lot of track switching and stuff which I personally love a lot if you can, also get Frankfurt Fulda sometime, as that one has BR 146.2, the best version of all in the game, since it has functioning LZB with proper LZB exit procedure ... this is a great loco if you want to do REX services on Munchen Augsburg with proper LZB exits
Noted about the BR 218. I was also looking into the BR 101. Is that something worth getting? Regarding München - Augsburg, I am simply a sucker for German routes. I think the only ones I'm missing so far is the Wuppertal and Tharander Rampe. Will probably get those also at some point.
Yeah, was actually thinking of just buying it because I have this faint memory of reading about the route here on the forum of it actually being good, or at leadt not bad at all?
Yeah, forgot about this one actually. After initially spending pretty much full price on routes and locos back in the day, I've taken a more cautious approach to buying new routes. So when this one gets on sale at one point I'll def. get it. With yesterday's purchase I'm up to 30 routes. Probably 15 I've never touched!
both OG BR 101 and Expert BR 101 + Cab Car are awesome, BR 218 took some getting used to but it is great (I thoroughly recommend having a thread with BR218 MU settings handy in case you need to double check)
Frankfurt Fulda has a lot of good rolling stock variety (definitely get FlixTrain Vectron, DB Vectron should also be included in that loco DLC, I think?), great length, even multiple LZB entries and exits (tho some services have this bugged; had a special service with 2x 146.2s, with like 8-9 dostos in between, a monster of a train, and had like 3 LZB entries or sth)... and for me, ICE-T and all are nice, layers also, but 146.2 is a highlight for me I have always liked that one since it has nice acceleration and controls similar to BR 101 (one of my fav locos, both OG and Expert), so naturally it was a bummer for me that the LZB didnt work properly (it would enter LZB but you couldnt release, leading to penalty brake applications) on routes like Munchen Augsburg and Koln Aachen, which have both great loco-hauled REX services... once I checked the new version in FTF and saw that it worked, I instantly tried a couple runs on those two and it worked, so awesome I have also created a fictional, Ukraine-themed livery in yellow and blue (using exact color values of Ukrainian flag which I found on the internet) for 146.2... maybe one day when they will support selecting also liveries for coaches, not only locos, will I make the rest of dostos also in such colors ... I am actually very proud of that one, as the Ukrainian trident took ages to do (also the custom sunflower motif I did there as well)... I am not Ukrainian but I support them so from time to time I create liveries in their colours
While I'm at it, I only have the TSW5 starter pack. I see that the TSW5 both Standard and Deluxe editions are on sale, $30ish for the Standard and $45ish for Deluxe. There isn't that much difference in price, really, but is the Cajon Pass worth the addition in price? What else is there?
If you like US Freight, Cajon is nice. Long drives, low speed, challenging slopes. If you don't like that, leave it.
So basically the only difference between Standard and Deluxe editions is the Cajon Pass? Excluding the Cajon Pass, are there any locos for the remaining 3 routes that are in Deluxe edition but not in the Standard edition? Might pull the trigger on the Deluxe edition if it has some locos that the standard edition doesn't have.
