GWE is not enjoyable on TSW4 anyway, as Paddington, Reading and the HST wipers are broken. Only playing that route on TSW3, using a backdated .pak (before LD patch). Seems with the loss of the GWR license, there's no intention from DTG to put any effort into this one. Instead of fixing issues, they raised the camera and broke the station lighting/texturing. Awesome.

HST wipers have a fix (quoting Matt on stream) and GWE can be remastered without a GWR license, just can't add new stock or stations.

So the rumor of no longer having the GWR license is true? That's unfortunate.
Hopefully it can be remastered then.

GWE is effectively the oldest route in the game, since Sand Patch got what amounted to a complete rebuild for TSW2

Thanks for the mention on the stream (only caught up with it yesterday).
More details on Iris 2's stay on the WSR can be found at https://preserved.railcar.co.uk/50222.html. In short it stayed there for 18 months and may not have actually worked on the railway.

Just taking my first drive on the remastered route now and what can I say - absolutely stunning. A real pleasure to drive even at the heritage railway speed limits. And is it my imagination or have the bridges over the railway gained some reverb?

Take a bow, DTG Liam .

Hopefully some more of the older UK routes can receive this treatment. WSR now up there with BPO and Niddertalbahn for scenic pleasure.

Does anyone know if they added new paths, start locations or portal spawn points to the scenario planner for WSR? I’m trying to find some portals now, but they’re not listed.

Pulling into Crowcombe Heathfield with a 101 running service MD2 I was just pulling up opposite the signal box and got objective failure with way more than a trains length to go until either end of the platform. I know some stops have weirdly specific requirements for you to pull up exactly right down at one end of the platform but not encountered this before.

I also had an objective failure when running the 4F goods train twice. I also had a dodgy 1mph speed limit section?

I didn't add any new paths to scenario planner but that's on me for not thinking about it at the time. Maybe in a future update though.

At this point, we already have many Class 66's in our TSW libraries, so I don't think anybody would complain about another one if it meant a remastered GWE route.

If a GWE remaster would happen then I'd very much like to see both of GWE 66's bought up to modern standards, including audio and visuals.

Hi Liam. Is adding extra paths to scenario planner something that is relatively easy to do (assuming you have the knowledge)?
I have now dabbled in both timetable creation and in creating scenarios from the Editor (so am aware that we can create additional paths in these).
I've often wondered whether there was anything that could be done to have additional paths show up in Scenario Editor.

Scenario planner paths is something I've done a couple of times in the past. For bigger routes this process can be a bit time consuming, depending on the amount of tracks/platforms/portals there are. Something like WSR would be on the simpler side but it's finding the time to work out the routes and adding them in.

Often routes only need 1 or 2 extra paths to make scenarios that bit more interesting. (ie Bringing an extra siding in to play or Allowing 1 service to pass another etc). However that rarely, if ever happens. Is this something that is do-able now with the official editor, forget about cooking for the moment, or is this still out of reach?

Yes, especially on WSR where you basically get just down and up paths all starting or ending next to platforms. I remember in the past update done yet by Preservation Team I asked on stream if additional scenario planner paths could be added, but I didn't get any answer and the paths stayed as they are.

On WSR I'd likely use the Minehead sidings to start or end freight services, or to align my departure from the platform with arrival of some AI light service from Dunster into the sidings (instead of the platform). Likewise I'd also have some use for the triangle or the area of Taunton portal on the other end of route for some things (and sidings on the way too).

Adding more paths is possible. Just in the case of WSR it would likely be something I would have to do in my spare time like the remaster was before needing someone to translate the paths and the tester team to make sure it all works.

I picked up Peak Forest during the spring sale mainly to add the extra layers to WSR. I'm really enjoying free roam and just taking my time to relax and tour the beautiful scenery with no other agenda. Very nice! :)

Understand the issue with stock, but stations is a bit of a shock to need the license, not something I thought would need it, can understand certain branded assets at stations may need it but stations in general isn’t what I thought would be on that list.

I tried using the BPO 08's on the WSR limited stop service (MD4 +MD8).

I managed to leave Minehead once but, now the regulator notch has a red box around it. Master key is on, reverser in reverse, brakes off. This prevents any power getting to the wheels. Not sure if there's a setting I'm missing in the 08 cab. Checked the vacuum/air valve.
When I try the service with the TVL + NTP 08 the red box is not showing, and I'm able to drive the 08.

    Just wondering:

I have just downloaded TSW5 for PC from Steam with this route. Is the update automatically installed?

I like the idea of the steam gala although I don't enjoy driving the steam locos. Is there an option to run a diesel or DMU on this timetable and have steam powered AI traffic?

There is no other version existing than the updated one when downloading it for TSW4 & TSW5 (and newer). You can download the not updated version only for TSW3 and older.

You can drive the 150 on shuttle services from Bishops Lydeard to Norton Fitzwarren.

although I would be cool to see the BR Class 104 be included in the timetable as it isn't unknown for a DMU to appear at a Steam Gala.. on that note, seems odd they DTG didn't actually include the 101 to the timetable

The 101 is on the normal timetable, the 150 was added to replicate GWR shuttles to and from the Steam Gala.

Just bought Peak Forest and the Scotsman on sale yesterday, so I can finally enjoy (almost) the full Steam gala timetable (except the festive specials from the West Cornwall steam pack, but that’s just a minor part of the timetable and the AI doesn’t even appear all year round. Plus that pack has been universally panned by everyone). Ever since the remaster came out like a year ago, the only thing I had in my timetable was the poor 150 doing the shuttles and nothing else ;) finally some company for it.

Well anyway, they placed some static diesel stock throughout the steam timetable (list is in the release article), and you can theoretically hop in and enjoy it with free roam. Overall, considering they didn’t want to mess with the original timetable (because the stock included with the route is diesel only), I think the decision to do Steam completely separately was a good one. I recall that the desired scenario by the community for Steam integration into WSR had always been a fully-fledged steam timetable. This also allowed the devs some freedom getting special services in. You wouldn’t see e.g. the Taunton shuttle or the Scotsman on a regular day. Still, I’d love to see a mixed timetable one day - and that isn’t even super unrealistic because they clearly haven’t given up on WSR judging by the upcoming Thomas pack.

Very minor thing I just noticed today: The gantry with the two signals at the southern end of the Up platform at Bishops Lydeard only partially casts a shadow. The shadows of the signals are “hovering“ as the shadow of the main horizontal part of the gantry seems to be missing.

The Class 150 Taunton shuttles have their destination blinds set to “Penzance” - I think “Blank” would be more appropriate in this case.

Edit: I also just had a game crash while I was sitting in free roam in my 150 while writing this, after just having finished the ~midday Taunton shuttle service coming from Norton Fitzwarren. Probably my first ever crash on WSR!

Edit 2: And again! This time, it happened after spawning on foot at Minehead and having a look at the other stations in the route map. I’m on PS5 if that helps.
