Wow, if ever there was a content release that should have been a guaranteed no-brainer to appeal to everyone interested in trains in even the slightest degree, it would be Thomas the Tank Engine. Yet there are people genuinely upset about it? Wow. I only hope the licence agreement includes narration by the most talented Beatle!
You shouldn't assume everyone has the same tastes as you. I'm very interested in real railways and representations of them, but I have no interest in imaginary railways. It's not good or bad, it's just what I like.
Not everyone likes the same things, true enough, but there are some things that everyone likes. Thomas the Tank and Ringo both fall in to that category. Even people who say they don't like them, like them. Especially people who say they don't like them.
I wonder what they will do with it. I know there are true Thomas fans who have even made the full world map of the areas. I have seen such a video. Accurate? We don’t know (though they say they have made assumptions too). But it could be something of interest as well, especially if the people behind the series are on board (which I have not read about so I do not know details). Will it just be Thomas or his world with it? Will other characters be DLC to add? Time will tell. EDIT: I read the article discussion topic post, not going to read the 13 pages of opinions after it. So Diesel and a couple of others are there as well, and West Somerset. Interesting.
Can’t say I am a fan of Thomas. What other people like is up to them. I’ll stick to driving AP rolling stock
This is more my era and would be a day one purchase regardless of price if it was ever to be made available in TSC / TSW!
Apparently this might be part of a multi-year deal, so you might get Toby eventually. Personally, I see this all no differently to model companies making Thomas stock. Some people will buy it and have Thomas or one of his friends running around a layout for a bit of fun while others won't buy it and just enjoy keeping things more realistic. I'm one of the former, I have Toby & Henrietta models that I sometimes run on the layout when I'm in a "anything goes" mood. That cheeky, blue tank engine is a part of why I got into railways in the first place. Hopefully these add-ons will attract new people to the hobby. Come for Thomas, get interested in the more realistic stuff and decide to explore what both TS Classic and TSW have to offer
Yeah I still have Thomas and James in storage with the rest of the model stuff. Thomas was my first trainset. Driving up and down wsr in Thomas isn't unrealistic I'd say, he does visit heritage railways irl.
I still stand by my earlier statement that the whole Thomas situation would have people a lot more enthusiastic if it wasn’t for the problems and lack of content that still remain with TSW and are yet to be sorted out which constantly has their community constantly hoping for better. So when they hear that Thomas is coming it means development time and resources is going into a “for fun” product instead of addressing the issues that people want sorted out in the first place it puts a sour taste in their mouths which I reckon is undoubtedly a reason why something that would otherwise be enjoyable has been so negatively received.
I think people need to realise that some issues and bugs on tsw, aren't gonna be fixed in there near future. So whatever dtg allocate their dev time to isn't gonna make a whole load of difference. It's been this way from the start, there's issues across all dlc's, some of them long forgotten.
Ok if you do Model Railways https://railsofsheffield.com/produc...gine-train-pack?_pos=2&_psq=ivor&_ss=e&_v=1.0
I did not say that, nor do I mean or believe that. There are some things that are universally liked, even if not everyone will admit it, even to themselves. And just for the removal of any doubt, I am posting all of this with my tongue placed very firmly in my cheek.
