In games like bus and OMSI, you can control the number of pedestrians and passengers in those games. Also, so what if TSW is a game? I know that it is so I fail to understand that point. Passenger behavior has been a mess for a long time and this thread was made to highlight issues and hopefully try to convince DTG to make improvements which will be happening for the summer update.

Do I think that rush hour was a bad addition? Of course not but it didn't do what it was fully advertised to do. Passenger numbers increased but there were still issues that rush hour was meant to fix but it didn't do which I've highlighted in my post

They sometimes block the platform making it difficult or impossible to walk past them.

I noticed that recently for a particular scenario on (IIRC) East Coastway - you're supposed to walk down the platform to close a door manually, but there were so many passengers I couldn't get back to the cab. Had to duck in and out of the train in the end!

I've fallen onto the track before trying to squeeze past.

I'm not sure if this counts as a hilarious passenger bug or a sublime easter egg, but in the Cajon Pass F7 'Switching it Up' scenario there is a passenger standing at the station using a hotdog telephone. He gets it out of his pocket, types on it, holds it up to his ear, and puts it back in a loop.

I'm guessing that is a bug. It's pretty funny but ridiculous at the same time

Yesterday I learnt that when a coach is full, passengers still board and just fall through the floor until you close the doors at which point they all magically start getting off the train.

People complain about everything these days ;)

This is not a bug, this clearly is the UnnFiko 3D Hot Dog Case Compatible with iPhone 6 / iPhone 6s

    So something like this:

Except in this case, instead of fall through the floor, they circle around inside, clipping through each other until you close the doors. Then they all teleport out at once and walk away as if nothing happened! :D

I wish you could turn passengers off in settings as I often find them breaking the immersion more than adding to it. They look stupid as well, especially when ten identical bald dudes in bright orange coats come at you.

There's a station in an older British route where there's a group of cardboard passengers standing behind the gates, very eerie. Same behind the main station of Salzburg.

Ah yes, good old GWE. I actually find that more appealing than the lifeless husks roaming around the platforms.

The passenger behaviour is not intuitive. They don't empty at terminus stations and I saw a loaded tube train in the turnback siding at Harrow and Wealdstone.

I also think with the way they behave at the moment breaks immersion rather than adds to it. They all look the same too, men and women, like a game version of the village of the damned. Maybe the TSW people have all married their cousins.

ROFL. That would make them Royalty! :)

Seriously: I can imagine that those double headed passengers are nothing healthy for the overall performance on certain routes. Especially on crowded stations. They're 3D animations after all and there're enough performance complaints throughout the forum.

Low hanging fruits for a core software optimization and performance boost, DTG?

I still can't believe that you can still see passengers on the tracks or falling through bridges.
Acts that are almost guaranteed to alienate Train Operating Companies.

Really irks me as I’ve commented in several threads recently. Whether it’s a core issue or route building errors it ought to be near if not the top of the priority list for DTG to fix. Assuming they are actually still employing any programmer(s) to work on the code.

Drove the 101 into Blackpool North last night, from Preston, on the last service of the night. 5 passengers still on board who didn't get off.

What was even more wrong though was the fact that there were actually people waiting to board - and several also in the station - even though the next train wasn't due to depart until 5 hours time !

"Little" things like that do tend to take away a good chunk of realism from what is meant to be a simulator.

AFAIK you can by editing the engine.ini and add

    ts2.Passenger.ObjectPoolSize=0

    into it. Source

Yeah, nothing better than finishing off shift for the night, parking up in siding or shed, shutting it down the train to then get up and walk through a train full of passengers that didn't get off at the last stop???

I did some computer programming years ago and I remember some of the coding went like...

    IF..34 < 0 THEN GOTO 50
    Run

    Apply to TSW

Train is 0 then = passengers get the F out (0 is end of the line)

    How hard can it be?

I drove the ECS from Morecambe to Carnforth siding. Got there, switched off all the lights, wandered through the dark saloon and bade them all a good night.
I'd have left them an urn of hot chocolate as a night cap if I could.... :D

I remember once they gave me a fright, took a train to Harrow and Wealdstone, disgorged my passengers. Then got the prompt to drive into the Turn back siding. Job done, shut down the cab and proceed to the other end. With the train now in total darkness I switched on my torch, opened the door....and proceeded to turn the air blue as a load of passengers were stood or sat staring straight at me lol.

I believe it's the same asset used in the same location in Paddington-Oxford from Rail Simulator, as well.

I think (not 100% sure) that it is being updated in the remaster.

I mean look at Bus Simulator 18/21 all the Passengers get off the train when you finish a service and you see them walking on and off on the train at stops. That is really good immersion and I feel like the passenger system is a big immersion breaker for me it is hard to explain why but it is.

I recently finished the timetable on Isle of Wight and the passengers on that service walk through the steps on the overhead footbridge rather than up the steps, then they take a 90 degree right turn as if they are walking on the bridge, walk to edge of the platform, then walk onto the track and disappear. And my old favourite, they go out the closed train door trackside, this has been going on since GWE time, but hey we getting Thomas. Playing Southeast high speed time table now and the passengers just step off the train and don't move, it is like a horror movie, if they move the monster will get them. Or on GWE the passenger footbridge rains passegers as they fall throught the footbridge. Or passengers go downstairs like Thunderbird puppets, look at them face on as they walk down the stairs, that is probably more funny than breaking the sim, but it is there. NTP....what passengers? And any ones there don't get on the train? Did I mention we getting Thomas?

Maybe some passengers simply don't like the thought of where they are being forced to go to? ;)

Oh gawd, not huge shoulder pads and mullet hair cuts.

Only acceptable for NPCs with huge shoulder pads and mullet hair cuts.

It is so bad on the Euston to Milton Keynes route that the ticket offices should be replaced by branches of Samaritans.

Agreed. Seems like a good concept on paper but the execution is so shoddy as to be unintentionally humourous.
