While it says go via, it should say stop at.

As well as there is the missing command(s) between go via and power off of:

    #1 Go to tree

    #2 Interact with tree.

My guess is that DTG want to have some level of surprise for these scenarios. Would it not be more fun to not know where the tree is on the line until you get to it?

For that, I guess software limitations make it a go via, hiding the stop at objective at the same location

There are many factors which may cause this, such as, well you know what I mean.

Not sure how it works in Germany but in the UK if there was a prior report of a tree right across the line, train movement would be stopped anyway, until staff got to site and cleared it. At best a vague report might see the driver being cautioned to look out for and stop short of the obstruction with hopefully some indication of the actual location. That move would be made at low speed depending on visibility so the train could stop in line of sight of the tree. In some cases the train might even be used to get staff with chainsaws to site, particularly if in a remote location away from road access.

Sadly as with most scenarios in TSW, the authors tend to play fast and loose with real railway operating rules and procedures.

Its 2025 and still trains aren't equipped with chainsaws as standard, when will they ever learn

I’d interpret this as just “rule of fun”. Don’t get me wrong I’m not happy with the arcade-y direction DTG is moving in. But since it’s clear that is the direction they’re going, they want more gamey scenarios where you get to be the “hero”. So they sacrifice realism for fun. Many players would prefer this to what such a scenario would actually look like, at least in the US: sit in a siding for hours, unable to do anything else like text, check social media, etc because of sterile cab rules, waiting for a crew to be dispatched from a city over a hundred miles away to drive out to it.

Actually one thing you can say in Rivet’s favour, despite their mediocre route and train efforts, they do generally create some interesting scenarios.

As regards sitting around, well the oil loading on Oakville beckons. You either have the driver/engineer operating the bulk load facility (unrealistic), or you get a wait 10 - 15 minute message with no option to time skip.

IIRC this tree is falling just in front of the train when you approach the location. So it can't be reported in advance.

    Moving in an arcad-y direction?

They have been since day one with points, medals and collectables.

    No movement needed.
