Brightline is an inter-city rail route in the US that runs between Miami and Orlando, Florida. Part of the route runs on track owned and shared by the Florida East Coast Railway. Brightline's maximum operating speed is 125 mph (200 km/h). Trains cover the 235 mi (378 km) route in 3 hours and 25 minutes, with an average speed of 69 mph (111 km/h). Brightline "Siemens Venture Series" trainsets initially consisted of 4 passenger coaches, with a Siemens Charger SCB-40 diesel-electric locomotive on each end. The coaches, with interiors designed by the LAB at Rockwell Group, feature ergonomic seating, Wi-Fi, and level boarding. Each trainset holds 248 passengers. Brightline purchased five trainsets for its initial service between Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. Five more trainsets were purchased ahead of the lines extension to Orlando and additional stations opening in Aventura and Boca Raton. An additional 20 cars were purchased to expand the trainsets. They will be expanded to five car sets in 2024/5 and six car sets in 2025. Brightline has said that it plans to eventually expand the trainsets to ten cars. I know that DTG Matt has said he'd like to explore this route, but it would need relevant licenses obtaining, which to date we don't know if they would be obtainable... Hopefully others think that this would be a nice (and colourful) route for TSW..?
This route should be added to the game. The Brightline Route should include at least Miame-West Palm Beach (and maybe the extension to Orlando. The route should include the Brightline SCB-40 Charger/Venture Coaches, FEC ES44C4 (repaint of the BNSF version) with LNG fuel car, and either an FEC SD40-2, GP40-2/GP40-3, or GP38-2/GP38-3. Freight rolling stock should include intermodal well cars, rock hoppers, and other FEC rolling stock.
Not surprising given that both are Siemens locos, which essentially just use a modified German cab layout.
COCOA, Fla. - Another Brightline station is in the works, and this time it'll be in Cocoa. Brightline executives and the City of Cocoa are ready to move forward with negotiations for the station located near State Road 528 and US-1, Cocoa Mayor Michael Blake confirmed to FOX 35 in a statement.
I love this proposal! Even better if this proposal included FEC since the two company share the same line.
ORLANDO (April 5, 2024) – Princess Cruises, the world’s most iconic cruise brand, and Brightline, the intercity passenger rail seamlessly connecting travellers to top destinations and major events in Central and South Florida, have joined forces to introduce the innovative Rail & Sail program, offering guests swift and hassle-free access to Princess cruise ships departing from two popular Florida homeports – Fort Lauderdale and Orlando (Port Canaveral).
That is not a bad idea. I'd love to see a Floridian route in the game at some point. I know Matt said he'd like to explore this route more provided they obtain a Brightline license. I'd also like to see FEC as well so that way there is a mix of freight and passenger and players can play both on one route just like how it is in Peninsula Corridor. They can even use the BNSF ES44C4 as a base for the one's FEC has. The only difference would be that FEC has flashing ditch lights while BNSF does not.
Well I guess it may worth a shot one of these days but who knows. And I can't blame him. I too want to see a route down in Florida. But yeah. He must have been confusing FEC with Kansas City Southern which merged with Canadian Pacific to create CPKC
FECR is part of GruppoMexico. One about FECR is that they have long history for US rail companies. It was officially named FECR in 1895.
now I would buy this just for the trainset alone... definitely a train that shows that a modern highspeed MU IS definitely an option if done right... looks great... not sure about route length tho... would love this a lot, would even pay more than usual if they actually did this P.S.: with proper safety systems implementation, of course, not just alerter, pls ... I am sure this has to have some sort of in-cab signalling to be safe at 125 mph
heh are you referring to the now infamous BrightLine stat line as the most deadly railway operator? (sorry for the black humor lol) ... well, it would take a Nobel Prize level genius to devise sth that would stop Americans (especially, but not exclusively, I should add) from trying to beat a train going through a crossing, even if it is just "slow" freight train, let alone a bullet going over 100 mph... or s...load of money and time to eliminate all grade crossings?
FEC rosters 24 GE ES44C4s. They usually run them in pairs, back-to-back, sandwiching a modified well car with a tank container load that contains a diesel fuel/liquified natural gas (LNG) mixture. FEC is the only railroad to regularly use LNG as a fuel for their locomotives. BN and BNSF have experimented with LNG in their diesels in the past, and CN has been testing LNG fueled locos recently.
They're all based on the vectron platform so it wont really be much different. Its like comparing a bunch of different electrostars.
IRL it is better to have similar or almost same cabs as that makes engineers/train drivers a bit easier to train, I would guess... in-game, it also helps the learning process... like, if you know your way around German/Austrian trains, you should have little problem getting used to new locos/trains as well
