Does anyone know where I can get the assets for this line? I have hunted everywhere for TS2018 and NWC keys. Alas nothing is available. Does anyone know if these assets are available on a site anywhere since they can no longer be purchased. Thx
I've been looking for this too - for the South Lancs and Borderlands routes - but no sign. I don't think they are to be found anymore, sadly.
Working on manually replacing these. Will be a labor of love. Pity they don’t just put assets in workshop since one can no longer purchase. This also impacts the Missing Link Route from ATS. I am nearly done with fixing that one
Yeah - I'm staring at a TS Tools screen, wondering if I have the skills/patience to try to sort it out
The tracks fix should only need to be the tracks.bin file. I am starting South Lancs just now and tell you what I find regarding tracks
Have you checked ebay? There are 2 TS2018 pc dvds in AU. Not sure if it would work if the key has been redeemed on Steam the NWC assets might still work.
I've tried this, and have got a DVD, but I have no idea how to get the assets off it. The formatting isn't one I recognise. The key was used, so it's just a coaster really. Didn't cost too much, thankfully.
South Lancashire and North Cheshire - BR Blue Period V6 seems to use the New North Wales Coastal: NWC-CreweCaergybi. I made sure I did NOT "Use of the AP Track Enhancement Pack". No need for the TS2018 for this https://www.wotawallysbits.net/slnc.html This also fixes Borderlands!
You should still be able to install it and the copy over the assets and then uninstall it. For NWC its in the RailWorks\Assets\DTG\NorthWalesCoast folder.
Slanc V6 I have installed still uses the old NWC assets and it's still listed on the Wotawally page. I've attached a list of the assets used you might be able to create the folder and copy some assets over from NWC-CreweCaergybi. I didn't do a thorough check, but I found some assets are the same. HTH
Yep, that's all the stuff I'm missing at the moment. Mostly replicated in the newer route, I think, so it should be possible to replace them. A big job, though.
There is an easier way to mass replace stuff - i mean i was the one that had to replace all the files from Branded to Unbranded versions of Northwalescoastal There is an option called "SerzMaster" which can serz entire folders - you won't need to touch Mixmaps or Terrain, or anything in the Tracks tiles folder - but basically you can search and replace folders using Notepadd++ Basically you can use serzmaster to mass covert all the bins to xml in each folder and then mass search and replace "NorthWalesCoastal" and "NWC-CreweHolyhead" to "NWC-CreweCaergybi" (for the Scenery, Loft Tiles, Road Tiles, and Tracks.bin file) - I mean of course back up first - but far quicker than most people think
How do we get in touch with WOTAWALLY'S BITS. They now have links which supposedly use the newer versions of the routes, however, the download buttons do not work. Does anyone know how to contact the site? North Wales Coast - BR Blue Period v1.0 and North Wales Coast & The Conwy Valley Branch - BR Blue Period
The down load button is actually the picture that has "NWC ROUTE" written in red. If you hover over the picture the little download hand appears. Just tried it , works ok for me .
I think he is talking about the version using the unbranded NWC: North Wales Coast - BR Blue Period For TS2022/Classic By Nick Hudson and Andy Freeman
No, I'm afraid not, cos that's not the file system as it appears on the disc. It's useless without an activation key, as far as I can see.
I think you are probably right. I didn't read all the thread I just checked the route Kilt 46 quoted. Why don't you PM Andy Freeman, he comes on here now and again.
OK I followed Danny's ideas. What am I still missing. Where are the ground tiles and track? Looks like I am not pointing to the correct terrain. How is this done? Thx
Terrain textures - you'll have to open up the "Routeproperties.xml" and find all the references to NorthWalesCoastal and change them to "NWC-CreweCaergybi . Although did you replace the ones in the tracks.bin too or just the folders? (I don't know what the route actually is, so i can't check myself )
Success-just need to find my missing assets and I'm there. I tried the xml file while I still had TSC open, looks like the file locked and I could not change it. I managed when not running railworks.exe - Thx Danny!
Once you know what you are doing this takes approx 30 minutes to overhall the complete route! Great info Danny!
That’s impressive (for an idiot like me). Going to have a look at this. This is the serzmaster method, right?
I've made progress, but no track, and no Chester station! Any suggestions gratefully received. A question of assets, I assume...
SERZ and review the track.bin file in Notepad++. Check the following 1) You have replaced ALL NorthWalesCoast text with NWC-CreweCaergybi 2) Run TSTools to get a list of missing track assets. I found that although I had swapped the source folder some of the track names used were not in existence e.g. I had to change every instance of wooden_track_joint with wooden_track (something like that) ensuring that every track name called out actually existed in my asset track folder. The track tile files do not need changed. They do not control the track type just the profile geometry used on that tile. 3) Lastly ensure the scenario.xml (housed on the main level of the route) also has the NWC-CreweCaergybi replacing any instance of NorthWalesCoast. Make sure you are logged out of Railworks.exe (TSC isn’t running) when you do this last step as it will not allow the file change if you are running. Let me know how you get on.
To note with Track you also want to look for NWC-CreweHolyhead (to swap for NWC-CreweCaergybi too) (same with scenery) because the Unbranded (well i say "unbranded" but it's TFW) - because there were newer ones included with the Holyhead extension including signals.
Just checked that, but it didn't find anything. The NWC-CreweHolyhead folder only contains a Time Of Day folder anyway.
Check the names of the track assets exactly match what you own. Also do not download the AP track stuff (unless you know what you are doing with it. I ended up deleting the whole thing and reran the install without the AP patch. It didn’t work for me when I tried it!
I mean if the route uses the original holyhead route it would still have assets pointing to that folder, the above means that you don't have it and have installed something from AP - weather pack. (some of the missing assets might be in that folder )
This is what I get in TS Tools when i try to replace RailWorks\Assets\DTG\NWC-CreweCaergybi\RailNetwork\Track\track01_conc_joint.bin with \track01_conc.bin
OK - I do have the AP track installed... Do I need to get Steam to reinstall the NWC route and then reinstall this one, do you think?
I mean my advice was more for using serz on the tracks.bin and using notepad++ not using TS-Tools though - the search and replace was meant for that not replacing the assets in the list you've shown.
Yeah - thanks mate. That was really helpful. I think I got all that right. It's the assets that are the issue now, I think.
This is one step away. I can tell you exactly what I did to fix this position. Maybe best just to PM me? I did a serz on the track.bin file (not the tiles) and changed the following: Find/replace : track01_conc_joint with track01_conc and track01_wood_rust_joint with track01_wood_rust Curious what changes you made to bring the missing texture banner back.
I r ealised that the intended track was in the asset pack 2, but I hadn't put it in NWC-CreweCaergybi - stupid of me. It produced that missing texture thing, though, so it obviously didn't work. Thanks for your suggestion above - that did work, but I still have a number of issues, so I'm going to leave it for now. Would you mind if I PM'd you at some point? Obviously don't want to interrupt your weekend!
I think that site is a bit broken and no longer maintained. The links to the versions that should work with the current North Wales Coastal are disabled but a bit of exploration around the Internet Archive revealed the link. The file isn't archived at the Internet Archive but it is still accessible for download in its original location: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ZkVtiuXCZhWQVTxQvBl49u7S_rTSlaKd?usp=sharing But . . . please beware. The word is that the conversion was not 100% successful and has some issues. This may be why the links are disabled. I don't know, I haven't tried it. Some may wish to give it a whirl, it can always be deleted. John
I ended up with the download using the old line and then fixed it up. Maybe the tracks are not as per - the trains run and thats all I need
Yes I was looking for this for the South Lancashire and North Cheshire route from Backdated Trainsim and for the Virgin Voyager. I bought the 2022 North Wales Coastal version in the winter sale and it turns out that the route doesn't fully work with it.
A different route but how would I swap an asset from one provider with one from a different provider using Notepad++
