Frankfurt - Fulda, Amazing Detail But Crashes Galore!

    So, the last few days I’ve been playing F-F as I’ve somewhat neglected it due to being a typical TSW UK player who only/mostly plays UK routes!
    I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the route, did DTG have any outside help for this? I have to say it passed me by.

    The BIG downer on this route is the constant crashing on the PS5. At least once between ends, the route crashes, and I’ve just got to the point where I’ve accepted I’ll not do an end to end run in one go!

    a real shame as it’s an excellent route!

    Bet it's the one when you run from Fulda to Frankfurt. It occasionally crashes around Offenbach as it loads a LOT of assets in the Frankfurt area, because, well, you know why.

    From what I heard, they did get help from Pilot21 for Frankfurt's main station.

    Do you have all the German layers? Although laggy in places I've found Frankfurt-Fulda relatively stable on PS5 since recent updates. The other German routes I have that layer in are SKA, KWG, HRR, and DRA as well as the Flixtrain and 187.

    It crashes both ways. You’re pretty much guaranteed to crash somewhere between Frankfurt and Hanau on PS5.

    I’ve got many of them, but haven’t bought any that weren’t included with base games, although I’ve got these going back to 2020.

    Off topic a bit but why at most off the stations the signage buildings al blurry can't read them sometimes and other times they are fine

    I can only suggest trying some of the suggestions in Alex's pinned post before the next core update.

    My top one would be switching from dynamic to custom weather. The game has been lot more stable for me since I started doing that plus the dynamic weather tends to be quite unrealistic with how you can get 4 seasons in one run sometimes :D

    It’s a core bug DTG introduced at some point. More and more routes are suffering from it.

    Hi folks, just to mention that the crashing on Frankfurt Fulda (and the textures being blurry at times) are both linked to the same issue of memory running low and either crashing, or texture budgets depleting.

    Just an insight into our development for improvements, Frankfurt Fulda should be getting some updates in our next patch, ideally later this week or next, and we're continuing to keep looking at further ways to improve performance.

    But, the problem with blurry textures is not only on FF. This error also appears on DLCs that never had texture problems in TSW4.

    Frankfurt - Fulda does have a lot of traffic, the route is literally packed with AI traffic, which is good on the one hand, but on the other hand the performance in the larger stations (especially Frankfurt and Hanau) is extremely bad and borderline, in my opinion even unplayable in some places in Frankfurt Central Station. Even with good hardware!

    It's good that you can deactivate layers. However, these are totally confused and for me not always clearly labeled and you have to reset them before every new journey. If only the whole thing would at least save. The "full timetable" and "reduced timetable" options were much easier. But that's fine.

    All in all, after all the hype, I play the route less often.

    I'm curious about the patch to see if it will improve playability.

    Thanks for the response DTG Alex, it's good to know there are potential fixes coming. As I said in the original post, this is actually one of my favourite routes now, and the attention to detail is excellent. If the crashes can be alleviated somewhat, it'll be even better!

    I mean, your people are looking at the code and I’m not, but I really don’t see how performance can be at fault for the blurry textures given it occurs on empty routes as well (tested in free roam on LFR). Unless there is a memory leak of some kind.
