You're very welcome. I hope for more vintage German routes as well. I'd love even older ones, too, but the 90s are a great decade for variety. I agree. I still think that DRA with its busy timetable and rolling stock variety is in a league of its own, but I personally prefer LFR with my subjective interests. The 110 on freight is a bummer for me as I'm more of a freight person, but just having the 110 and 103 on a proper vintage route is already a dream come true for me.
The route is on sale and I was wondering whether I should pick it up. Are the PZB issues still present? Or any other annoying, long-standing bug?
I don’t know enough about PZB to know if there are any issues, but I can tell you I play with all safety systems on and never notice anything that doesn’t seem right or effects my drive. So it’s not broken or anything. But if there are some intricacies in the simulation or signalling I’m not 100% the best person to notice, maybe someone else can chime in there. As far as the route itself it’s really well done and one of my fav routes in the game. The 103 is a great train as is the 110, very fun and engaging drives. And the route itself is scenic with some cool castles and the track is curvy along the river like a slalom. I always recommend this route.
103 is a nice drive, apart from the very loud and insidious traction fan which goes continually, rather than spooling down as the amps drop. However when mentioned previously appears this may be prototypical.
I got a gift card a few days ago and decided to purchase this route as it has been on my radar for a long time, so far I'm absolutely loving it. It's a nice gentle route with gorgeous scenery, plenty of AI traffic and because I already own Niddertalbahn I get the DMU for that on it as well. Well worth the purchase for my PS5.
It's one of my favourites I love the way the railway and road are sometimes in a narrow corridor alongside the river. It really would benefit from some period DLC. DTG appear to have washed their hands of it, maybe they really are avoiding doing anything to their historic routes. Instead we are getting another modernish route. I really hope that someone l, maybe simtrack or TSG will make a 140 for it.
Yes, I like this route and the rolling stock that goes with it. Great scenery, though the Rhein could be a little more animated.
it's a great looking route. pretty long and not too straight and boring because of the scenery. the 103 is also pretty iconic and great to have for railtours on other dlc. I would like to see some more stock for the route as I think there were way more international wagons, local trains and a better freight loco or three to be found there
Yea, i can't believe there wasn't a single loco DLC for left rhine, yet. I'm sure there are plenty of opportunities. The route really deserves a fresh wind
It is nice, particularly the castles, but, having been down the river for much of the area covered, I just wish that the river was busier and there was scenery on the other bank.
It is one of my favorites routes of the sim! Great scenery, it is a bit long which I liked it , variety of trains (passenger - both local and express + freight - plus free roam which you can drive other locomotives) and specially one of my favorite locomotive of all times - DB 103!
the only reason I don't visit it often is the lack of stock variety, no good freight loco and wow the 103 is loud. apart from that it's very pretty and enjoyable to drive
I recommends you, to use Free Roam! Change the locomotive of the route for the ones you prefers. Or even the full train you will drive. So you will be an extra train, following the traffic ahead. I did it several times.
The route is great, def worth the purchase, but yeah, the 103 is sooo loud you can't sometimes hear the sifa warnings. Maybe it's the PS5/TSW4 version only, but with the sifa light barely noticeable in daylight, and having a good chance of not hearing the audio warning due to the motor fans, I find the driving somewhat stressful. Also, I feel the driver's camera position is too low especially when it snows/rains, as the wipers don't clear the very bottom of the windshield, so you can't see speed limit changes very well. Again, maybe it's realistic, and frankly you get used to it, but it feels annoying in the beginning. I wish it had the chair height control like the 155.
