They will only show up in the xml if TSC registers a save on your run. Can you even see the career xml?

 

I don't understand the instructions, you know. All I found is "career" and it just goes straight onto here on the internet because a message says, "This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.".

Now you have this open with Notepad++ and find the information for that specific scenario

Look for f41d6b11-fdcc-4bee-ab4b-c61b3c2da6b3 and change the text

Save the XML. This will not take effect immediately. Y

Go to your Railworks/Content folder and delete your SDBCache.bin file. Next time you start up your SDBCache file will regenerate and your menu will update to the new values.
E:\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Content

You will need to make sure you do this exactly as if you mess up you will need to resync/download your TSC program again.

If you feel this is too technical then you must live with the system as is.

I just deleted the SDBCache.bin.MD5 file, I think so I understood this. So what should I do next? But do you think this problem will last forever, even if I uninstall and reinstall Train Simulator so I would have to live with the system as is forever?

 

These files technically are operated by Steam. The SDBC cache is a temporary file which compiles at the start of your session. The Career.xml is where your Career (not your Standard scenario) scores are maintained. You have the option to update your career.xml (do this whilst not running TSC) and it will compile into the SDBC cache and show in your session window promoting your current scores.

I have explained exactly how to do this. I even included your desired scenario id. If you are still not understanding what to do I suggest you accept things as they are otherwise you may easily break the TSC code.

And what difference will it make if you manage to make the changes?
Can you not live unless you have a Check Mark to say you did something?
And even then you have Fudged the System to show the Check Mark

 

Connor, for your information, I personally do not rely on the Steam/DTG interface to know what I have completed. I keep my own list of what I own and what I have completed. There is nothing to be gained by getting every check mark as this is almost impossible unless you know how to fix many of the broken scenarios. Some are easy to fix, some require a complete re-write. For me it is better just to know yourself what you have done and keep your own records. Whenever I get a new route/DLC I download the info from TS Tools to my own database and record there. The TSC code is very complex and very fragile. If you do not yet have a good understanding of how to manipulate the code you will either break the existing code or end up to consistently need to keep validating the Steam/DTG program.
I do feel your pain. I originally went down the path you are on only to discover much frustration. That is why I ended up keeping my own records and realizing that it is only a simulator and not really designed to be an achievement program. For me it is all about the journey and not the gold stars.

You need to open that file, search for the code I added f41d6b11-fdcc-4bee-ab4b-c61b3c2da6b3 then modify the values in this block

Save the file and you should be good.

I suspect it is an offline file which means you cannot modify it

Well, I used a Microsoft Edge search engine to look for "f41d6b11-fdcc-4bee-ab4b-c61b3c2da6b3" and it does not show up.

 

It is in the xml file when you edit it with notepad++ look for that specific line in the xml using Ctrl+F

this is what you should be looking for with CTRL+F in the Career.XML file
You can find this out by using TSTools to search installed DLC -> Extract Route Properties then Extract Scenario Properties which will give you the code for the other 2 files. I do not have these 2 routes so I cannot help you here you will need the TSTools
Once you find this string then change to "Completed Successfully"
The other code I provided was for the very first scenario quoted in this thread which is not yours. If you have not started a Career Scenario it will not show in the XML. Sorry if I gave you the incorrect string to search for.

If it is non-existent in your Career.XML (assuming you have one as I no longer have one) then the system does not think that you have ever run this route.

Try running the scenario again - it might put a new entry in your Career.xml which you could then edit.

I do not believe this scenario: [648] 3. A Winter's Return (Part 3) is possible. I ran it to the end. There is an unmarked loco sitting on the tracks which does not appear to be programmed to move. It could be done on Standard by deleting this vehicle. Editing a Career scenario will no longer allow this scenario to score.

 

Because I want to complete the scenario.

 

This scenario in my opinion is bugged - it cannot be completed as a Career Scenario (see comments above)

 

I have sometimes been thinking about reinstalling the game. Will that help?

 

No the scenario is incorrect. You would need to remove the offending carriage. In doing so the Career becomes null and void and becomes a Standard scenario with no scoring.

 

That is just ONE Broken Scenario. If you reinstall it it will still be broken.
You could just ignore it and play other scenarios.

You can remove the offending carriage and complete the scenario. You will not score anything for it as changing a Career scenario would make it a Standard scenario. As mentioned many times before in multiple threads it is best not to get concerned about the inability to complete a Career scenario as this is not the only one that is bugged.
