Hi guys I am struggeling in choosing between Semmeringbahn and Salzburg Rosenheim since these routes are on sale. Tell me which route is better and why
Salzburg Rosenheim is much more busy and you might add the BR 101 Expert to it later. Uses more layers so if you have more German stuff it adds to the route. Semmering actually is an Austrian route, not a German one ;-)
Having a lot of framerate issues with Semmeringbahn passing through forests. Don't know if it's related to trees or shadows, but it never happened on other routes. Salzburg Rosenheim is a lot smoother, but boring.
that's a beautiful sheet to compare. note that the vectron AI layer on Semmering is broken. and the 185 on rosenheim can't reverse. Both are pretty different and great routes on their own and for those who enjoy the german speaking area of railways a must have. for myself I think Noir has given a perfect comparison. with Salzburg - Rosenheim you feel as it is more of an complete package. Semmering for me feels very incomplete, a bit like Linke Rheinstrecke. it's a winding and interesting strech of railroad that looks very picturesce in most places. the lack of stock makes me hold off on playing on it often though
Not sure what system you are on, but would also note that SBN does not come with all the layers on Gen 8 or Series S. This is not advertised by DTG. I find SRM more enjoyable but it really does benefit from having all the layers, and there are a lot of them. But with the framerate problem plus broken substitution on SBN as well, I say SRM if you are choosing only one.
rosenheim salzburg is better in terms of variety if you have the route and expert 101, however that will set you back 60 quid. semmeringbahn on the other hand includes no new rolling stock and has less variety so it’s a very individual choice. i’d get rosenheim just because of the 111, and mix between regional, express and freight
basically is though isn’t it. appearance and sounds are almost identical and there’s no way it can be regarded as a new loco
Semmeringbahn is a bit like Geislinger Steige, but Austrian. I think Semmeringbahn is the better Route.
I think the interior got a decent rework including functioning screens and different buttons. it looks the same on the outside because it is from the same family. I'm not that familliar with the MRCE and Dispolok variants but I would say the 1116 is definetely better, especially because it includes new coaches too.
For me the main problem with the 1116 is its uniquely incorrect implementation of PZB. It also suffers from the issue where, using a console controller, there is no differentiation between acknowledging PZB or Sifa. Although a common issue, it should not have appeared on a vehicle from TSW4.
