These DMU's were used often on the WSR and would love to see them in TSW

That would be totally awesome! Or a 166, preferably in GWR livery! Don't be lazy DTG, make one already!

Does the WSR HAVE a 166 in GWR livery? Don't forget this is a heritage railway

No no not on the WSR! We'd need a piece of the GWR for that, maybe Paddington to Reading!

    In other words, r/woosh! ;)

The 166 is already on that route, and the 101 wasn't there in 2015 when that route is set
Would be strange to have a 101 under the (incomplete) wires

they do have a 3 car 115 DMU running on WSR and a 165 doing a shuttle service from Bishops Lidyeard to taunton. which started this year and runs on Saturdays only as an experiment, and if successful will become a permanent run daily the 115 is there own dmu and does services every day.

The route is supposed to be set during a diesel gala day, so not sure if the mainline extension runs on those days. I realise it's "nitpicking", but DTG tend to stick to their themes

Since I already own the 101 I wouldn't mind being able to use it on WSR "by accident". Just like the 08 appeared on there. In fact the class 40 could have slipped across as well, I'd like to be able to "Whistle through Watchet". It wouldn't half annoy those caravanners. :)

The more value we get out of our locos the better.

I think it's only certain scenarios that mention the gala theme? Although granted the lack of steam engines do give a diesel day feel.

The literature for the route is based on a diesel gala... from the steam page:
Rolling hills, golden meadows and seaside views are yours to experience in Train Sim World: West Somerset Railway, bringing Britain’s longest standard gauge heritage railway to life. Operate your trains in a diesel gala environment and keep the tourists entertained with a diesel-bashing display of powerful locomotives thundering through Somerset’s beautiful countryside. Reproduced in exquisite detail, every station, signal and milepost feel so real you could almost reach out and touch them.

This. Happy to see more crossovers between DLCs. It's an easy win. 47 on TVL, backdated 37 on NTP. Wagons too. TEAs on TVL, HEAs on NTP. You get the idea.

Ah, I sit corrected. Slightly amusing/ironic it coming from the steam page. :)

Indeed. Stick all the diesels on WSR, it's a diesel gala!

The basic route with one shunter and a seemingly underpowered 47 wouldn't keep the tourists attention for too long.

Steam page. And the main type of motive power missing from the recreated heritage railway is..? ;)

Why did Valve call their store Steam? Come to that why are they called Valve? But no, don't respond, that's way off subject! I'll ask Mr Google.

Yes just realized that but the current one is a different livery and possibly is more updated than the older varient of the 101

Well Valve was founded by ex Microsoft employees who were disgruntled by the company's lack of innovation in game design... I guess they just had to vent some STEAM when they quit. So they needed a VALVE!

I'm not suggesting much, all it is, is a new gwr livery and the option for wsr

we already have the 101 in 3 Routes NTP, TVL, and DLGW what we need is another first gen dmu like the class 117 and 124. And a Unification of all the versions of the 101 since they all have differing details and performances

A 124 will be hard to do as there are no surviving units with the Albion power units they used.

It would be great if they could. NTP is lacking without these unique units. We have had several EMUs now but still only have 1 first generation DMU and one more modern type. There were 32 TOPS classes of first generation DMU from 100 to 131.

There's reference material online for this and even if the sounds were an approximation I'm sure people would still enjoy them

I wouldn't mind some older period routes which they ran. Some of the Norfolk branch lines set in the 60's with a suitable steam engine and maybe a class 31 would make a nice package or the Wherry lines set around 1990.

However generally I agree as much as I love first generation DMU's and enjoy driving the class 101 it is getting tedious especially now they have used it where it didn't run! Lets hope we eventually get at least one more DMU for DTG to reuse umpteenth times.

There are over 30 types of first generation DMU DTG, plenty around preserved railways.

Or they could do Sprinters, Alphlines, Pacers... 14x and 15x would cover just about anywhere

I suspect they will come as most of those are still in service so they can paint them in this bright colourful modern colours! But why can't they do both?

If we don't get any more first generation DMU's then we will presumably get no more pre mid 1980's BR diesel period routes unless DTG just make routes to run the class 101 on, and surely they wouldn't do that.

I think it might be better to make something more different to 101s since it takes a lot more effort to make stuff for TSW than it did for TSC, instead of building something from scratch only to use the same sounds due to the lack of resources. I wouldn't have minded an earlier Leyland engined pacer for a bit of variety but there are none surviving other than Cummins/Voith retrofits, unless the engines on the sole 140 are of the same type and are in a decent enough state to run.

I am not talking in this instance obviously, but the coming years!

Do they want to create a variety of routes covering different periods or era's or are we going to see mainly modern stock on modern routes with a nod to steam when it comes and anyone who enjoys the days of BR blue will have to put up with convoluted stock packs of whatever they have happened to make, made to fit a modern route! I am just looking at TS1 and imagining what it would look like if only DTG and maybe one or two others had built anything for it and it would be a sea of modern routes with modern stock and very little of historic interest.

If the former then great, if the latter then I personally will buy less and less of TSW and stick to TS1 where I can create a lot more variety, although mostly thanks to third party providers.

I hear you, but, frankly, UK rail fans have by far the least to complain about when it comes to vintage content! You have NTP (+ HFP) and TVL, not to mention vintage rolling stock on WSR, IOW and DLGW (and, really, Bakerloo), and a shedload of vintage DLC locos; whereas there is NONE for Germany and, prior to Clinchfield, NONE for N America.

A livery pack for the class 101 would be nice. NSE, Regional Railways, Strathclyde PTE, BR Green etc etc.
