Since we are getting routes in the Netherlands and Japan this year, what new countries are the most likely to be included in the near future (2025-2026)?

I can imagine another French and/or Dutch route.

Depends on licensing first. And 3rd parties depending on where exactly because dtg can't know every detail

Still wanting Australia, Canada, and Russia in game. China and India could be awesome too.

Hard to say. You have to look at TSC to see which countries sell well there too and developers considered worth developing payware for.

My smart money might say at some point we could see something from former Eastern Europe, perhaps the Czech Republic. Poland they will probably steer clear of as SimRail pretty much have that sewn up and could even have exclusive licenses with the rail operators.

Another Benelux country could be a possibility if the Dutch route sells well. Ditto Scandinavia, a Norwegian scenic route would fit nicely but again - how many of those do we see for TSW or even MSTS before it.

More far flung locations such as Australia seem unlikely, partly due to licensing which DTG have alluded to the rail operators not being interested and even a heritage railway it’s a long trek to gather information for marginal profit, unless a competent local partner could be found.

While not strictly a new region, something else from Canada could break the merrygoround of UK/Germany-Austria/USA particularly if they could get a Canadian Pacific and VIA Rail licence to do something out west. Or Rocky Mountaineer over Kicking Horse Pass. Yeah, baby!
