These timetables are superb and extremely useful.

Thank you for all the hard work you have clearly put into creating them. It is very much appreciated.

I use these a lot, they’re great thanks!

Is work still slowly progressing on the projects and are TSW5 ones eventually going to be made? Amazing work either way though

I imagine it’s probably impossible to keep up with all the timetable changes at short notice recently, unless they can give you something like a raw excel file (if one exists!) to lift from.

Interesting point there, about being no Ai services on the route. I thought the same for a long time, even chalked off an ai intermodal that passed during a scenario (believing it to be a scenario only ai) but I’ve since come across a bunch of 4XXX intermodal ai services which join at Syston North Junction, and head up towards where East Midlands Gateway would be. I’m unsure if they’ve appeared since I bought the Aggregate add-on or not though. But if so, if the Intermodals really do exist and are regular, why are they ai and not playable (we can drive a good chunk of the route that they run on) and why is the East Midlands Gateway (their supposed destination) not part of the route, it’s a 2.2m branch that probably has a fair chunk of its track in (behind the invisible walls).

Questions that I need answers to!

Hello everyone, I thought I would give you a bit of an update on how things have been going lately when it comes to creating pdf timetables.

The good news is that, despite things being quite here lately, I haven't totally given up on makings pdf's for TSW routes as I do have a few projects in the works such as for Bahnstrecke Salzburg Rosenheim and I even started one for West Coast Main Line: Preston - Carlisle and I plan to eventually do one for London Overground Suffragette Line, as I got the latter two routes during the Christmas holidays.

But to be honest, the reason why I've been so quite here lately can be summarised in one simple word...

    …burnout.

Don't get me wrong, I can still be fun to makes these pdf's, especially if it's for a route you really like. But lately, I found doing this to be quite a chore. It's often time consuming and you can lose a lot of enthusiasm for doing this very quickly. Plus, considering that TSW add-ons are more pricy than they used to be, I also want to consider how much I want to invest into this, especially if I want to use that money for something I really to want do/have or if it need it to purchase a new part for my PC that's failed on me (which I've had two of them in the past two years, one for my Graphics Card and another for my Power Supply).

This all came to a head when I released the pdf for East Coast Main Line/Timetable updates for Midland Main Line & GWE, which while I was happy with how those turned out, I was just feeling so burned out and completely unmotivated to keep doing this on regular basis. Which is why ever since then, I've scaled back to only focus on what routes I will enjoy making pdf's out of such as Blackpool Branches and the updated West Somerset Railway and even then, progress has been slow, because by then, my focus had shifted away for TSW and towards other games that have given me far more enjoyment in recent years than TSW ever could. I don't even interact on these forums as much as I used to, as I also shifted being on social media, which again, has taken massive time away from doing pdf timetables for TSW.

I will admit though, the motivation did rejuvenate a bit when TSW5 came out, as it did bring some features that actually could help make the process of making these pdf's easier, such as the new live map (which shows what all the smaller places such as yards are called) and especially fast travel, which means I can get one area of a route to another a lot more easily than before. I could see how these additions could help make my life easier...

…if only DTG didn't then mess area with the general route service counts.

Ever since that mid-October update, the service counts on several TSW routes have been all of the over place, making it much harder to work out how many services a route actually has. It's a bit better than it was, thanks to an update later that month, but there are still issues that need to be addressed with it, such as how several locos show 0 drivable services on several routes (despite clearly having drivable services) and that fact that the service count in the train depot is completely broken. I did report this and a fix is claimed to be coming (no word on when just yet) and I have still be able to make some progress despite this, but this is one annoyance I could very well do without.

All in all, this is just to say that again, I haven't totally given up on making pdf's just yet as like I've said, I still have several ongoing projects right now, but I have now scaled back from doing one for every route to just doing ones for routes that I feel like I will enjoy making pdf's out of and I cannot guarantee if certain routes will ever get a pdf from me now. I also in the future want to revaluate how I do these and see if there's any way to do these better than how I currently doing them right now, if anyone has any ideas on this, then feel free to let me know down below. But for now, I will continue with want I'm currently working on. I have no idea when they will be finished or when they might be released, but rest assured. I'm not gone, I haven't given up in TSW, I'm just less active here then I used to be.

I really appreciate all the work you have done through the years to make these timetables available. Thank you!

I also completely understand the need to step away from such time consuming projects. This is, after all, a hobby and time is limited, so spend your time doing stuff you enjoy.

    Thanks again!

Hi, thank you for the update and agree, you want to enjoy what you do and play rather than a chore!
I find these very helpful when wanting to select stations for trips, times, routes etc - would you be able to provide updates on timetable pdf’s you won’t be making please so I know not to wait and figure the timetable out myself?

    Hi
I've only just found you timetables on here (whilst I'm out in Switzerland on holiday) and on first viewing they are excellent and will have a better look when I get back next week. For WCMLos I posted a comment in the feedback post about all the hidden/non listed services and ways to make it easier to find them and made a suggestion a list may be away to find them. So in the week before I left I did start to compile a list on paper myself and is something which I intend to carry on with when I get back. I'd be more than happy to assist and send you any info I find and help complete a full timetable.

    Regards phil

Hello there and sorry to bother, especially given the recent update on how you're currently feeling, but do you think there would be a possibility of adding the passing ICE 3s in Rapid Transit? I only considered asking because I hope it's not a lot of work...

Other than that, so far thanks for tons of useful information and (either do or don't, according to what feels best) keep up the good work! lol

I know it's been a very long time since I've been in this position... but I'm back and I have a new pdf timetable for you all here.

This one is for Maintalbahn, featuring all the major services that run on the route (including the freights services to Aschaffenburg Port) and a section dedicated to the AI services that pass through or stop at Aschaffenburg Hbf.

For those wondering about how I handled the BR 218 aspect for this route, instead of doing a whole separate pdf, I decided to put a '218' icon above the services that are operable with that loco in the separate timetable.

It is good to be back uploading these pdf's after such a long break and I hope I can have more for you in the not-so distant future. Have fun everyone!

Got a new pdf for you all here, this one is for Rivet's Berninalinie. I actually had this one finished for quite a while now, but I've never released it until now, mainly because I originally wanted to release this alongside a pdf timetable for Arosa Aggregates on Arosalinie. But in the end, I lost enthusiasm to do that one and I have another pdf that's also ready for release. So I decided, you've waited long enough, you might as well have this one now.

But that's not the only pdf being released today, as I've also release a new pdf for the Thomas & Friends timetable on the West Somerset Railway (since it was incredibly small). I've also updated the existing steam gala timetable to remove the seasonal services icons from the Flying Scotsman services (since they are no longer seasonal services). Both of these timetables can be found from their respective posts, which can be accessed from the first post, or for quick access, by simply clicking here.

One last note regarding West Somerset Railway, I'm currently trying to find some of the AI Norton services that I wasn't able to find before, I posted a bit more about it here, but if anyone has any information about when these services show up, that would be really helpful:
    • Class 20 Railtour
    • DB Class 66 Freight Services with TEA Wagon from NTP
    • EWA Class 66 Freight Services with MFA Wagon from SEHS
    • Flying Scotsman Railtour Services
    • Class 52 Railtour
…and breath, that should be everything. Have fun everyone!

Yes, it would be helpful to know what is not being worked on, so others can make those for the community.

Right, let's have a talk for a minute...

As you all probably know by now, TSW6 comes out on early access a week from now and I think this is a good time to discussion where I am now regarding pdf timetables in Train Sim World and to be honest, very little progress has been made on any pdf timetable. I would occasionally work on a few from time to time, but as I said a couple of months, I feel generally burnt out from doing these pdf's and the process of making them doesn't feel quite as enjoyable as it once did, especially with possible my least favourite part of it, filling in the 0:00's on the freight services and the go-via point services, which can usually take hours as I usually have to find the time to actually ride that service and take the timing when it arrives, or when it passes a go-via point. I know I could just spawn-in around the time that service is suppose to arrive, but I feel it wouldn't give me the most accurate timing if I did it that way.

So recently, I took some time out and thought to myself 3 questions, which were 1. 'How can I make this more enjoyable?' 2. 'How can I keep up with the current route release schedule?' nowadays' & 3. 'How can I get these timetables out faster than I can right now?' The 1st one is pretty obvious, the 2nd is in response to how we've been receiving quite all of routes and add-on that add new services recently and the 3rd is based on the fact that making these pdf's in incredibly time consuming and nowadays, I would rather spent my time doing something else than waste hours trying to fill in the blank timings on a pdf of mine... and then I had an idea...

…Sheets (or Google Sheets in this case).

For those of you that don't know, I use OpenOffice to make my pdf's, but considering the current environment with TSW right now, it's becoming rather untenable to keep making pdf's on there in the way I was, especially if it usually months or years for a pdf to come out. Now I had considered Google Sheets in the past, but now I'm really seeing it as a real solution to the problems I'm currently facing right now. The way it would work is something like this.

    1. I would create the basic foundation of the PDF as normal on OpenOffice (with services and all).
    2. I would copy and past it over to a Google Sheet.
    3. After a few fine tunings, I would release it as is, even though it isn't entirely finished (as it's 0:00's would need filling in), which leads me to...
    4. With the help of people on this forum and the wider TSW community, the rest of the pdf would be put together on the Google Sheets, filling in the 0:00 and helping to improve the pdf as new services get added over time and so much more.

This would be a great way to really bring out pdf's much faster than right now, because I could. just release an unfinished pdf once I've added all of the major services to it and then either I could back to it and fill in the blank 0:00's over time or someone in the community will go and fill that in for me. I only have one issue with this...

...is there actually any interest in doing this?

Just so you know, I haven't actually committed to this just yet, this is just to see if there is the interesting in actually pulling off something like this. If I actually decide to go through with this idea, then it's most likely that this thread will be retired and I will start a new one to help keep these new pdf's separate, as well as just wanting to start fresh and new with this.

So that's where we are with pdf's right now. I'll wait to see what the response to this will be and I'll let you know on a final decision before the release TSW6 on early access next week.
