I was just wondering whether, if I wanted to play older routes such as Sand Patch Grade or Peninsula Corridor (without the new lighting anyway) on a PS4, whether I should use TSW5 or rather an earlier version. Has anyone tried or even made a comparison in terms of framerate, crashes, etc.? I would assume that, for example, TSW3 is no so heavy on the hardware as TSW5 because of the new functions. On the other hand, there has of course been some optimization with the newer versions. So it may be ambivalent. Thoughts are highly appreciated.
I would say TSW4, on PS4 pro i had few crashes after one update that broked the game, they fixed it whit another update. Now i play TSW5 on PS5 and a couple of days ago had few crashes whit 710 WCMLS, i raised a ticket and one of solution is change 4k to HD, tried this and no more other crash
I believe tsw3 was the last iteration before a lot of core features were added. Hindering performance. Or was it 2, so many versions now, its hard to remember.
I think 3 added new lighting, but did not yet have the new sandbox features, interactive map or other intricate stuff. Runs decent.
TSW4 definitely ran smoother as we have been discussing elsewhere. However keeping both versions installed is going to eat up a lot of HD space if you install all your content on both versions. It’s also unlikely TSW4 will receive much if any future core support from DTG.
I only play PS5, currently PS5 Pro, but it's not that long ago that we tested the Salzburg Rosenheim map on both versions, both TSW4 and TSW5. I was particularly testing the texture blurring problem on Dostos in Salzburg. I have to say that the problem was the same on both versions, because the problem probably occurred with the last August update within TSW4, which brought suspension So my conclusion was that TSW4 currently did not bring any improvements..... so I left TSW4 for good
