Is that the download size, or the patch size? Usually it is the patch size, as applying changes requires unpacking the affected route pak files, updating the changed files in the .pak file, and repacking the route again. So, for even for a simple change you can end up with 10+GB patch size, becasue you need to unpack 10+GB of data. There is no simple way around it, and it is still better than consoles that really need to redownload the route again...
It will also depend on what content you own. It was a 5.2 GB download with everything installed here.
that's "just" the patching size, nothing to worry. it's also reasonable for how many older DLC got affected, especially german ones with the door control fixes I'll love to try out later today.
It's mentioned that static AI has been removed for Gen9 consoles on WCMLOS? What is the definition of static AI, as it was nice having it populate the route! Haven't played it yet to give an opinion, but I hope it hasn't essentially made the map and sidings baron.
It was the patch size - 3.3 Gb download. I went out and did some shopping just after the original post. it is currently 75% of the way through the patch...
I have noticed that the way the game patches has changed somewhat recently. Rather than just the overall dl being displayed. It now shows the dl size then another set of figures are displayed usually much larger than the dl. Last time I see it was saying 80gb for example then after it had installed it said the dl size was a few gb.
ididntdoit , the final figures equate to the size of files patched, not the download size. The actual size of your installation is unlikely to have changed much, it has just accessed a large amount of files to update them.
Yes I have noticed on my laptop which has a SSD C: Drive, Steam downloads much faster than on the potato main PC where all mechanical drives seems to restrict me to a maximum of 8 or 9 Mb/s which means as I said earlier 1Gb takes about 2 minutes to download.. So games like Forza 4 or Dirt Rally 2.0 which are 90 odd Gb take around three hours to install. I need a better PC, but try convincing my wife of that!
Just started now and showing as a 2.2Gb download, then however long it takes to apply the patch. So hopefully done by 1800 GMT.
Geez people complain there is so many bugs and where are the fixes. Then they release a bunch and you. complain its too big?!?!. Imagine how big it would if everthing was fixed.
Would be great if it actually addressed some of the core issues though... They can devote coder time to blocking DTG Live if you have mods installed, but not to adding more save game slots.
My patch size was only 224mb and installed in about 2 minutes. TSW booted right up with zero issues related to mods or anything else. A seamless patch and game update.
After years and years of updates and patches there's still no progress or resolution to the lack of use of custom liveries for freight/passenger stock appearing in game on pretty much all US and most UK routes in timetable mode but hey lets make sure we stop people uploading any custom skins for other users to have via CC if they have a single mod in the DLC folder..... Great work DTG..... Great work.
Hi Chris! I don’t know if someone already pointed it out but the substitution for the MP36 PH on Antilope Valley line is not working after the patch. The loco is not selectable although the wagons that should appear are appearing- but AI only. Also the F125 now has 6-7 different variants to select although it’s the same loco- just like the bug with the Br111 on Salzburg-Rosenheim. I’m playing TSW5 on Steam.
Couldn't find a feedback thread for the patch, so thought I'd post it here. Thought there was a patch notes error community thread but couldn't find that either. Understand updates to PS5 have been pushed out again, so could be on the way. However currently I have received some updates, but not all updates for DLCs I have installed. Missing include: ECML Rapid Transit Also, I seemed to have updates not listed in the patch notes - guessing they were just for door controls again: Main Spessart Bahn Flixtrain DTG Alex
Would appear multiple lights are now broken too including WSR shunter marker lights and ROG 37 headlights and route indicator and inside lights :/
While the download size of the update was "just" 3 GB for me, I had to clear A LOT more space on the hard drive that to get it to install, so that may contribute to confusion as well.
What nooooo For what it’s worth, I got tons of downloads the day before yesterday, but then nothing since DTG said they were pushing the PS5 updates again. Perhaps there’s a holdup somewhere. Hopefully we get the proper update files soon considering I kinda had the feeling I was playing on an outdated version of Mittenwaldbahn today… felt oddly unpolished. This could mean that PS5 didn’t get the proper day 1/release patch for it. Have you ever been on a real railway? There’s tons of stuff sitting around at the big stations and yards. It’s important for immersion.
Well I've just had a message pop up that my update has failed due to insufficient space. The original download is 3.6gb but updating requires 122gb free space? Why would a 3gb download require 122gb of free space available?
Well it's the demise of tsw for me. I've freed up space on the drive, 500gb free yet tsw keeps failing to update due to insufficient space! I've cleared the download cache in steam but it's still stuck in a never-ending loop. I can't move it to another drive or remove some dlc whilst there is a pending update. I think it's absolutely ridiculous that tsw requires so much space to install a 3gb download.
