If at the end LZB you move the AFB with keys R or F, a traction lock ensues that seems deadly.

    It can be defeated.

Turn the loco completely off by doing MCB off, panto down, brakes off, but stand up and set parking brake on, lights off, deactivate cab, battery off, and then sit back down and do ESC with key or controller, then trigger a loc reset. Do not miss Battery OFF.

Now do the minimalist startup from the 187 tutorial:
activate cab, set lights, sit down, panto up, MCB closed, right screen button 8, set lights then stand up and release parking brake, set reverser, apply power ... it may take a lot so don't fret, push on more and ignore anything else that seems sensible: you only want to finish the service, okay ? We did not turn on a few things, just as in the 187 tutorial. Do not touch brakes even though you are about to release parking brake with no other brake applied.

I have tried to find a simpler alternative, but after hours of effort last night and again early this morning, this is all and only that always works.

BUT i need to use keys for AFB because my palsy hands and fingers ( Parkinsonism ) makes moving levers with the controller rather difficult. DTG espouses ACCESSIBILITY but leaves this old key use deadly bug.

Silly bit: you must shut off battery, but reset turns it on.

And remember, the 187 AFB is weird and uses no buttn, screen or CTRL-R.

Mnemonic, no CTRL-r so NO r, NO f

And here and only here, consoles without keyboards escape this nasty bug. But i use a BT kybd with my PS5 so i hit this bug on Köln-Aachen on Steam, Epic and PS5.

to see really silly, once rolling turn on Sifa with Sh-Numpad Enter: it activates LZB, too.

No big deal, switches are in the machine room if you ever risk using this lok again.
