Hello everyone, I am currently working on a detailed recreation of the Karlsruhe–Heidelberg route. In addition to replicating the route itself, I also plan to integrate several shunting and train formation operations in the freight yard of Karlsruhe GBF to capture the diverse operating procedures as realistically as possible. At this stage, the tracks between Bruchsal and Karlsruhe have already been implemented - a first but significant step. I am currently working at the tracks of Karlsruhe’s main station. Additionally, I would like to mention that I have obtained consent from the user mrsquid#4056 (https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/wiesloch-walldorf-to-hd-kirchheim-rohrbach.88872/) to work on his section of the route, and we are in contact. We are now searching for a solution to build the route together (hopefully without Perforce). Trains planned (for now): - Modernized S-Bahn Rhein-Neckar BR425 (S2/S3/S4) - BR101 (not the Expert for now) as IC services - BR 406 ICE 3M - DB BR 401 - Dosto (RB 68) - BR442 in SWEG Paint (RE71) - BR442 in SWEG Paint (RE73) - DB BR 193 Vectron (Freight) - BR 185 (Freight) - DB BR 363 I look forward to your tips, experiences, and suggestions, especially if you have worked on similar projects or are aware of specific challenges. I will, of course, keep you updated on the progress.
My part of the Route is like already mentioned in my abandoned Thread Ubstadt-Weiher to Heidelberg Hbf. Glad we can work together ^^
The more projects from Baden-Württemberg, the better! I'm excited to see your work and wish you great perseverance.
Some more tracks.. Direction to Heidelberg Hbf Tracks to the left: To Heidelberg-Weststadt/Südstadt (not planned to be driven) Tracks to the right: To Heidelberg-Kirchheim/Rohrbach (part of the map)
And here are some updates from the othersite of the route in Karlsruhe main station... ...and the freight station
All WIP: Heidelberg Main Station: Tracks in direction to Mannheim (not part of the route (maybe route hopping Sierra_Papa ??))
Tracks for the freight station in Karlsruhe are almost done and some Signals are also at the right place!
A later expansion towards Mannheim would of course be great. But first, focus on building what you have planned at the moment and don’t put more pressure on yourselves. I'm glad to see that you're making such good progress with the track construction. I'm curious to see how your project develops.
Hey vircom, thank you for your support! Sierra_Papa and I really appreciate it. About an expansion to Mannheim I couldn't say anything at the moment. We have many ideas what to add to the route but firstly we need to manage to connect our two projects. Currently we are experimenting one way and its looking good. Furthermore we will keep you updated about the Route building process and everything else! Greetings.
New updates from my part. Heidelberg Hbf is almost ready, some junction motors still missing. EDIT: Added Lidar until Ubstadt-Weiher To the left: Neckartalbahn to Mosbach To the right: Rheintalbahn to Karlsruhe (part of the Map) Sidetracks after the Main Station (part of the Map) The left tracks are Tram tracks of the OEG Line 5. Overview over the Main Station tracks Beauty and my full pride
------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello everyone, We have some really big and exciting news, but also some very bad news. Let's start with the good part. We (Sierra_Papa and I) have successfully set up a project using Perforce! This means we can now properly start building the map the way it is supposed to be in the end. We're really excited to share this progress with you. Both of us are truly amazed and grateful for your support, and we’re looking forward to seeing how everything develops. Now for the bad news: We weren’t able to transfer my section (Ubstadt-Weiher to Heidelberg), which means I have to rebuild it from scratch. While this is somewhat frustrating, it’s not a huge problem since I would have had to make some changes anyway. We’re currently working on restoring the remaining LIDAR data up to Heidelberg and are looking forward to sharing our progress with you soon! Greetings. -------------------------------------------------------------------
an interestingly looking German route with lots of tracks on pics sounds like a good idea to me ... I havent mentioned it enough on these forums but one of my top fav things concerning trains/railways is changing tracks, and the sound trains make when passing the joints ... the sound, the way a train snakes through those... so seeing pics with a lot of tracks looks promising to bring lots of that
Oh wow, this is very cool and nostalgic for me, I've spend a lot of time in Karlsruhe in my youth and been too Bruchsal and Ubstadt-Weiher many times as well. All the best for your project, I will definitely keep an eye on it! All the best, Jan
This is now the Part with Route-Hopping at Heidelberg to my Route Würzburg - Stuttgart and at Mannheim there is the Route-Hopping to Mannheim - Kaiserslautern.
Some electricity? But, Heidelberg is fully rebuilt inclusive Junctions. Some changes and things that I would overdo in the last version I fixed. Also I edited the KML with Karlsruhe Gbf: And many other intern things like StationDirectory were created. One really annoying thing is that the Signal ID plates and all other text elements are not displaying the correct font (corrupted Editor files ??) But I'm in to it and fixxed already some.
Really like your project. This is my home town route and I travel on it daily. If you need any pictures of anything let me know. Although I suppose scenery wise, Google Streetview should probably have everything. There is a TSC version of this route from Wiesloch-Walldorf to Karlsruhe and I was super super impressed that many buildings were done 1:1 with the real counterparts. Hopefully y‘all will be able to reach that level as well. Looking forward to updates.
In TSW it's a different scale. Thanks for your help, though, we both live in the region. Respect in any case for the TSC builder.
Impressive and can't you just enable the route hop on Remly Forbach Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern Karlsruhe route which is actually the international segment of your Karlsruhe Heidelberg route
Forbach-Saarbrücken-Kaiserslautern is the route you would get if you would extend MKN to the west into France. But where is the link to Karlsruhe? There is the Pfälzische Maximiliansbahn, which connects Neustadt and Karlsruhe via Winden, but that's a non-electrified line with only regional passenger and some freight traffic. The other option is the Speyrer Linie between Schifferstadt and Wörth, which is electrified, but is only reachable coming from Mannheim and not from Kaiserslautern. And none of the international services to France use the Karlsruhe-Heidelberg line; they either drive via Kaiserslautern (MKN) or Hockenheim (Rheintalbahn). Operationally, Karlsruhe-Heidelberg has nothing to do with MKN, except for the S3 services, which use the section between Mannheim and Schifferstadt and continue on the Speyrer Linie. This map shows MKN and HD-KA (orange), as well as the possible links between those two routes (green):
Thanks for your explanation Jo_Kim ! Since we've only planned Heidelberg till Karlsruhe I guess this is gonna not happen. When the main route is done, maybe we could think about it, but at the moment as said, we need to focus to the main route so it would be finished. Greetings
Thanks for the explanation and regarding Heidelberg Mannheim is that electrified if yes That's the line I'm thinking of to route hop
We are currently working very hard on the two major train stations in Heidelberg and Karlsruhe. The attached image shows the progress in Karlsruhe
I must say, this is looking promising! The two developers seem very experienced. Good luck with building!
Thanks! Since there not really an update from me, here is it: I started modelling the platforms with the platform hall, added Markers at Heidelberg Hbf and added the signals 30ZS1-10 (in direction to Kirchheim, Neckargemünd) and 30ZV1-10 (in direction to Mannheim). Also I fine-tuned some tracks and junctions. Made drive tests with a test timetable.
Long Time no update.. The project is not dead since we have a private Life !! I've built already tracks after St.Ilgen and tested gradients, signal behavior at Heidelberg Hbf and began modelling the platform hall.
Yesterday I finished building the tracks from Heidelberg to Ubstadt. Currently I am building the crossway between SFS Stuttgart-Mannheim and Heidelberg-Karlsruhe a bit after Ubstadt and after Bruchsal.
The map is finally not anymore in two parts and I built the crossway to the Highspeed line Mannheim-Stuttgart
Small Preview from Heidelberg to Ubstadt. Like in the Youtube description, I only wanted to test the tracks since I didn't do it. Edit: When media not work:
Hey, Just wanted to say like the post on Thursday, currently we have not much time. rather a break too much than a little, quality before quantity Greetings
After a break, we're working hard on the project again. Here you can see the eastern exit of Karlsruhe-Durlach
