There has obviously been a lot of talk about suggestions for new routes, however I noticed some already existing routes that could be improved or extended further (within a reasonable distance). My focus is on the UK as this is mostly the content I have but you may be aware of others in different countries. What do you think of these suggestions? Are there any other route extensions or improvements you would like to see? WCML South - I don't have this route but haven't heard great things said about this route either Ideas: Split into two routes and release separately like the Chiltern Mainline out of London Marylebone was. It could be something like this: London Euston to Milton Keynes/Northampton and the Watford DC line in one package and London Euston to Birmingham full route in another (without Watford DC). This would allow greater detail and accuracy to be put into each route (I heard comments about missing overhead lines, buildings in the air, stations looking unfinished etc.) It would also mean the route would be less likely to crash on your computer due to it being shorter. Some not as important Portsmouth Direct Line (original version) - It actually contains other routes in the Surrey/Berkshire/Hampshire area. An updated version was released on Steam workshop which did have some scenery added (Woking-Alton and Guildford- Ascot I believe). A few ideas I have are: Add portal at Ascot for trains running to/from London Waterloo and extend the line from Wokingham to Reading as this is only a few miles further. Fix track on Guildford to Redhill section to allow trains to run both directions (currently can only go towards Redhill). Add portals for Gatwick Airport/London to get rid of trains, also add some scenery (optional) Replace loop at the end of the line from Hinchley Wood to Guildford with a portal for Surbiton/London, fix track where the line from Epsom joins at Effingham Junction and add portal for Bookham. Add scenery (optional). Alternatively, get rid of that line and replace with Epsom to Guildford instead. London to Brighton - An extended version to London Bridge has already been released Ideas: Add platforms to the station at Plumpton and at Chipstead. Alternatively just make Nutfield and Crawley look like proper stations. Could also extend Wivelsfield/Plumpton to Lewes or Hove to Worthing? (or is this too far fetched) GEML London to Ipswich - the Harwich Town branch (Mayflower line) has already been released separately with the missing scenery on this section Ideas: Add platforms at Billericay. Could also extend Marks Tey to Sudbury, Billericay to Southend Victoria/Southminster, Ipswich to Norwich or Colchester to Clacton-on-Sea. Some where there are very few things you could add GWML London to Didcot Parkway and Oxford Ideas: Add Heathrow Airport branch and include a Heathrow Express EMU. Also could possibly extend to Swindon. ECML North East (Modern) - Basically the original ECML North in the electrified years Ideas: Extend to Sunderland Chatham Mainline and London to Faversham (including merge) Ideas: Extend on the London end to London Cannon Street, add platforms/scenery at Greenhithe and Cuxton. Could also extend from Ebbsfleet International to Ashford International? WCML Trent Valley Ideas: Extend from Rugby to Northampton or from Stafford to Crewe to have a more complete route
I think justtrains should put the Western mainlines (and extensions) on steam so its easier for people to find who dont want to sign up for multiple sites. So then we could get a upgrade for the Heathrow line
They might have to split it into different routes to be able to do that, due to the size and complexity for example it could just be London Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads and Bristol Parkway. Bristol to Exeter is already an existing route. I would also add that the South Western Expressways route on steam workshop should've just been made up of Reading to Exeter and Westbury/Chippenham to Bristol.
Wish they did the Same to the US routes like Donner pass and Sherman hill like extending the route to Omaha Nebraska!
None of your suggestions will happen DTG made those routes and are not likely to change them - if they did it would break scenarios for people who own those routes.
ATS have doe a lot with introducing the Northampton Loop and Birmingham - Stafford - Crewe - Preston. https://alanthomsonsim.com/product/west-coast-mainline-midlands-and-northwest-aka-missing-link/ WCML South is not that bad - try it in a Sale
I'm more concerned by the size of the route for WCML South, 3.2 GB and it has a reputation for crashing to desktop due to it's size. Otherwise I would've bought it by now. It is just driving the whole route that can cause your PC to crash or anything further than Watford Junction?
