A bit of a big wish list, but would be great if any could come into the game, some of which might be too big to develop properly. Just trains routes 1990s North Wales coast with cl31/4 and 37/4 & regional railways mk2s new locos/stock to the game Late 1980s Glasgow to Carlisle or Crewe to Preston inc Earlestown diversion with cl90 & DVT new loco to the game. Dovetail Games Kings Cross/Moorgate to Peterborough & Hertford Loop with Cl91 & DVT, 717 as new loco/units. C2C cl357 & 720 as new units Leeds to Skipton/Ilkley/Bradford FS (Shipley triangle) possibly include K&WVR and/or Rylstone Branches cl331/333 as new units.
The one that many would like to see but don’t think mentioned yet, is GWML extended to Oxford plus the London area freight branches and the four passenger branches (Greenford, Windsor, Marlow and Henley) adding. Slightly complicated by the forthcoming complimentary makeover but nevertheless would be a nice crowd pleaser.
I've never got the interest in the Chiltern route, I find it an absolute bore of a journey, only bit that interests me is when it follows the Metropolitan line, but hey ho, each to their own I guess
The appeal to me, is that it is the only major route out of London that is not electrified, and one of the few operators that use push-pull haulage.
I did it a few times back in the Class 115 days, both to Aylesbury and Banbury. It’s probably the most scenic of the rail routes running north and west of London but operationally a bit dull. Yes for modern day you have the odd loco hauled service but the bulk of trains are still 165’s or 168’s and there’s not that much freight. DTG or whoever might build it aren’t going to give us three new trains and that’s before S stock (or the older A60’s) to run on the Met.
speaking of UK, yesterday as I was revising my DLC list (I am keeping a list of all DLCs I have that I check from time to time, like if all are displaying ok in-game and such), I have found out that I somehow got BR Class 52, even though I dont have West Somerset railway nor have I ever bought that route... did a little digging and found out (thanks to purchase date and emails) that it somehow got bundled in into TSW 2 Starter Edition - German (I already had TSW2 at that point but wanted Ruhr Sieg Nord and BR 155, and thats the bundle I got to get those)
already mentioned this but woodhead would be nice a good one, but which era. 70s with no through passenger services just freight. would only need the 506 and EM1 as most other stock is there already in game, or go 60s. would require the EM2 as well as lot of back dating the diesel side but there would be a place for the steam side as well. bit of everything. bit dream world but with what we have stock wise, its a contender for not too unrealistic a more realistic thought (thinking stock again) for a BR blue era route remaster NTP but add the Calder valley line and maybe run it out to Heeley mills new loco class 25 or 56 plus the 104 as and when it comes out. new wagon MGRs
For me, a 1980s or 90s NSE route with lots of slam door stock would be amazing. Especially if they included a class 73 as well. Not an especially difficult project: 33 could be reskinned for freight and some passenger workings. Class 101s reskinned for AI West London Line workings. The coach design would use existing Mk1 models. Route could use some of the existing Clapham Junction trackwork too. London routes obviously sell well and a retro route would add some pleasant variation.
I'm going to be selfish and wish for the Hertford Loop Line being I'm local to the route. Would love to drive one near my house.
Surprised no one has mentioned Leeds, Bradford, Ilkley, Baildon and Skipton yet. Perfect little network, all self-contained operations. Class 333’s. Layers for the Azuma. Leeds can have ai EMT HST, Northern 323’s, Azuma’s and some ‘unbranded’ stuff. More opportunity for a 225 set too. Ticks enough boxes!
I'm hyped for NSE class73 with 1st gen coaches (mk1), though I'm not familiar with the specific route along with it.
Oh did they ??. I haven’t been on here in a while so haven’t been up to date much…. Hopefully one day in the future.
Careful what you wish for there. A few years ago I lived pretty close to the WCML and was looking forward to seeing the (totally non distinctive) estate I lived in on the time recreated a few years later with WCML south. And it was there. In the sense it had the right layout, and the habitations were about the right size. But totally the wrong buildings. Not unreasonable of course - they can't replicate every building in the game and it's in no way an interesting landmark or anything. But when you know the place it just makes you sad to pass it looking soooo wrong. It's not something I think anyone else would even notice.
Yes, I can see my flat on SEHS. It's fairly well represented as an estate overall, but the block of flats themself look nothing like the real thing!
A Preston-Crewe followup to WCMLoS (80s) would be brilliant. Failing that, hydraulic-era WR around Bristol/Bath/Cardiff - something for the Western to get its teeth into, along with the existing 31s, 37s, 45s, 47s. I'd love to see a Warship in the game - by far my favourite loco in TSC!
I’m after exactly that too, Preston to Crewe. Sometimes when I finish a service from Carlisle I like to find one to do to Blackpool or Ormskirk. The idea of being able to take that to Crewe or Manchester is going to get my money immediately. In my opinion, if the next round of routes announced for the summer release from DTG don’t lean on the potential that route hopping brings they’ll have missed a huge trick. But I’ve a feeling they’re gonna seize that opportunity, and other devs surely will too?
Quote "Newcastle Suburban network, pre Metro - Tynemouth Loop plus Quayside, South Shields and Sunderland. The Class 101 stands ready to serve (maybe with better engine sounds)". I have been asking for this from day one -IMHO this route in modern context i.e. Metro would be dull and have limited appeal/re-play value. What I think would make it a bit more interesting as has been said is set in the 60s/70s but to add to this the ECML to Darlinton enabling route hopping onto TVL. This would broaden the scope of gameplay for freight e.g. Jarrow oil refinery tanker trips, coal/metals, parcels and beer/chocolate from the region etc. i.e. It would make more sens if Newcastle Central was in the middle of the map and not in one corner as it is if you only include the Suburban network. This would give a good range of branch and main line options with stopping and semi-fast passenger services and a relatively long run for freight. Also there is the potential to have the class 105, 03 and 25/2 as an enhancement pack for the route and for TVL layers
I'm guessing there's a 50/50 chance of JT extending their best selling route north to Glasgow. It's that or they go south out of Preston. Either one I'm good with. I think as the recent poll shows, a 1980s route is in that "sweet spot" between BR and modern. Half the playerbase wants a focus on 1970-2000 and that's right in the middle. Lots of playability with "route hopping" too. While it's not as great as actual route extensions, it kinda makes sense for these longer routes like the WCML North. It can take over an hour to run each "leg" (route) and that gives you a chance to get a drink, stretch your legs. It'd be kinda nice motoring up the WCML for an afternoon with a stop every hour or so. The only drawback would be the WCML South starting out "modern" but if there's a whole string of WCML routes connected, that'd be a minor inconvenience.
I would love to see another tube line as the BAKERLOO LINE is 3/4 years old I would love to see The Metropolitan Line or District Line as not completely underground a subsurface route i know that the District Line will be difficult so I'm suggesting sections Wimbledon to Edgware Road, and Ealing Broadway to Tower Hill or Whitechapel using the C 69/77 stock and the D 78 stock as my dad was a former driver on the District Line retired 6 years ago but would be my dream route and I would pay for that on the day of release if ever made for TSW 5
Met Line would also be great. It could provide layers for Chiltern or vice versa. Running them on the same path, from Finchley Road to Amersham! S Stock would be great!
A 2000's option for the West Coast Main Line over Shap, where you had the end of the class 87's and the start of the Class 390 Pendolinos.
That is a really good one I hadn't thought of! Another nice self contained end to end route... Also Northern is run by the DfT so licensing shouldn't be to much of an issue. Also the 333s are pretty unique on the network since their 332 sisters were withdrawn from Heathrow Express duties a few years back.
For me, The Harrogate Loop, York-Harrogate-Leeds-York. Lots of existing stock already around for AI-158’s, Azumas, 170’s, steam and fields rail tours. The route is scenically interesting enough without being majorly hilly throughout and adds another part of the ECML from Leeds to York..
Edinburgh Commuter 2005 - Edinburgh to Bathgate Line (1989-2010), Edinburgh CrossRail (Pre-Borders Railway) and North Berwick/Dunbar Line Or The North Clyde Line Edinburgh/Springburn <> Helensburgh/Balloch/Milngavie via Bathgate, Airdrie, Glasgow QS LL, Anniesland/Garscadden and Dumbarton Central. Including the Class 334 and 320 with a 318 DLC.
TSW remake of the TSC's Weardale & Teesdale Network route, same time period and all. And yes, I know it'll never happen, but one can wish, right?
Would make a nice part of a West Yorkshire based network area. Along with the Airedale and Wharfdale lines!
It ticks so many boxes from both a consumer and development stand point. One brand new unit to make, and then several re-liveried or sub-class options (like a northern 158/170), and if it was destined to be a launch route for TSW6 it could be ‘deluxed’ with the 225 set (that seems to be the most highly requested loco add-on in TSW history). The route is a certified network. Multiple different routes/paths to take, including up to Neville Hill for the overnight / ECS moves. Scenery will be interesting too, with urban, hilly urban and then the iconic moors.. Hopefully someone within the DTG walls has already banked this idea!
Any route that involves the class 465, 466, 700, 707. For a company whose HQ is based in Chatham and uses all the above rolling stock and more on their nearest train line (SEML), I expect to see more. It’s like TSG using a lack of the DB brand in their routes. Hopefully incredible trains will be our London content creator going forward.
west highland line portsmouth direct line jublie circle metro victoria, distract line south devon railways edinburgh to glsgow via shotts west coastway kings cross to petrobrough west london line devon and cornwall all in 2010s or early 200s
Interesting point. He most definitely will add to his debut route, but based on his creator clubs posts he was coming in at a completely different angle to most typical developers. He said he wanted to recreate the whole of the inner-M25 area of London.. which is mad. Networks of routes could be his usp.. especially as London is pretty damn entwined. His rendition of Blackfriars was mighty impressive, anyway. I wonder if that’s a hint or clue as to where he may venture next.. maybe the Sutton loop.. up to St. Albans or Stevenage.. that would be enticing enough for me..
Looking at what has been produced in the past will help whatever is coming. I would be very surprised (although would welcome) a 1980s 3rd rail Southern route. There is nothing in the stable other than the 33 which has almost been forgotten about. Far more likely to get something that can use what is already here in layers and one new train with a route. The one thing TSW has taught me is to manage expectations and they are to not to expect a lot nor very quickly.
samfjsmith. Would Preston to Manchester do for you? If so consider it done!!! l am sure it’s on JTs hit list!
That would be perfect as I’m from Manchester but I’d take absolutely anything in any direction tbh so long as it’s long and I can get work some real distance in. Not sure I’ll be able to contain myself if it’s Manchester tho, Victoria especially as Carlisle to Leeds is then possible
For me, I would like to see Birmingham New Street - Leicester - Peterborough to link up 3 routes already in the game, even more so now with route hopping! Operated by the Class 170s that are already in the game too
So long as the Class 170’s got remade and acquired some actual track sounds! Though being the old dinosaur I am, Birmingham to Peterborough with Class 31 hauled stock, or even go back to the Class 120 Cross Country DMU’s complete with farting exhaust sound on pullaway supplemented by Class 104’s on the Leicester terminators.
I would like to see the London Waterloo route With the class 458s and the 444s New SWR livery. The Bluebell railway running from Sheffield Park to East Grinstead. I would aslo like to see the full run of the Elizabeth line from Reading to Heathrow airport with the class 745s
