I don't have a problem with that. If I ever find the time to completely re-signal the route (as I would like to) I would take a slightly different approach and share the modification publicly but expressly prohibit the vendor from adopting it without a contribution to my time, because that business does seem to have a habit of selling products which incorporate others' free contributions without even giving credit.

I've been wondering if it might be possible to use some other ground signals to replace the ones which are faulty, providing they communicate with the other signalling, that might be a quicker way to restore the route without re-signalling the whole route, at least until a better solution is found.

I've also been looking through the scripts of the offending ground signals although my knowledge of lua is rather limited. I've been studying other ground signals in TS hopefully I might make some progress, which of course I would be happy to share with the community.

Of course - but there is no certainty that everything would actually work because the Mark Brinton scripts are not compatible with Kuju-type ones etc. It is possible (not certain, without testing) that substituted signals will not clear, which could leave the route with non-working shunt signals - no different to the situation with the existing shunt signals disabled. Or maybe they would clear but not cause the following one to do so. Its worth a try but would need extensive testing.

It's amazing to see how productive the german community is in terms of route revamps, vegetation updates and completely swapping signals (they have a library of perfect DB/DR freeware signals of all eras over on rail-sim.de, even used by DTG). Hagen-Siegen has just been updated to V4 and looks nothing like the old GermanRailroads Ruhr Sieg Line.

What about those who use freeware?

Who cares, he's happy with his over inflated ego and non existent revenue stream from creating TSC "fixes" leave him to it.

Well, this thread has fairly conclusively put to rest any wish I might have had to purchase anything from SSS again.

Without going back through this thread to see if this has already been mentioned SSS has made a patch that removes all the faulty ground signals. Text from the installer. I haven't installed it yet.

"This is a small patch to temporarily disable the signals that are causing problems loading the Stainmore Route. Note that by installing the patch some ground signals will not function. A better solution will be found in the future."

I feel the same too. When you contact them via their website or email, they never respond, so if they cannot be bothered to reply to their customers, they will quickly lose them.

As I have said before, this doesn't "fix" anything, it just kills the scripting that causes the game to crash. The method was lifted from forum postings with absolutely no credit to those that made the effort to find a workaround.

The gent that created the scripts doesn't seem to be around any more, haven't heard from him for years. So I don't believe the signals will be fixed. The gent that did most of the route-building threw in the towel after losing his work with computer failure (and, presumably, no backup). They are selling a broken product which is most unlikely to be fixed.

They should honestly not be selling it at all, then.

Oh dear, and just tonight I’ve paid £30 for this route, can’t run any scenarios or quick drives, and now gone looking and found this thread. I’ve tried to follow the whole subject tonight and read all the posts. I will get hold of the workaround mentioned in here and hope for the best. Before I found this I sent them a support mail but sounds like I already have the answer. Disappointed I won’t lie.

You might be able to get a charge back through your payment provider for defective goods/non response from a supplier. It depends if you think the effort is worth it.

Alternatively, try reverting TSC to an earlier version. There are threads here on how to do it.

Does the OP mean he cannot run any scenarios on the Stainmore or in the game?

In my own case last night non of the Stainmore scenarios or quick drives would work. Everything else in the game was still fine. When I got the signalling patch as suggested here it seems to have fixed it for me

Steam Sound Supreme say you have 90 days to get a refund from them or if you paid through Paypal you can get a refund through them.
