recently, the FPS is my game has been around 20-30fps. Prior to this issue, I got in the 100-200 ( depending on the route). I am not sure what is causing this issue and if anyone else is having this issue. My system is pretty good and I am up to date with my drivers and windows OS.

You may have tweaked performance settings and got Windows to pick the CPU as GPU. In complex scenarios the CPU can become a bottleneck, too, although doubt with yours. Fps while paused is a giveaway.
