    Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn
TGV 9553 Paris Ext to Frankfurt(M)Hbf at 11:33 am

It is fun driving the TGV down the grade and, once you get to the flat . . .
. . . there is a freight ahead of you. It clears at Ludwigshafen. After that, you have a wait to clear oncoming traffice before arriving at Mannheim.

Here’s one from a true classic, Schnellfarstrecke Köln-Aachen:

    S19 inbound at 11:02
    (DB423 in New Journeys)
A true traffic jam. You’re following another S-Bahn all the way in. Lots of interesting signaling and brake work in the speedy 423.

I did this freight run with the Class 66 on London Commuter yesterday, which was great fun. (Part 3 is the actual Awesome Run, but you may as well do Parts 1 and 2 first as they're both short runs before the main event.)
    6V60 Ardingly Aggregates to Acton T.C. (Part 3) at 09:55 (55 minutes)
Plenty of restrictive signals / AWS action once approaching East Croydon and then all the way to Clapham Junction, with added challenges of braking for signals on downward gradients. Even more fun in the wet!

G6 shunter timetable runs are great. would have been nice to do the mainline runs utilising multiple mode as the little G6 struggled up those darned gradients! As an aside a bit of a technical question concerning the G6, one presumably would expect running it in shunter mode there would be more power to the wheels due to the lower gearing but even in shunter gear it struggles up those gradients I would have at least expected a bit more grunt?
Think I'll try the 363 on the same runs next?

An enjoyable freight run on Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn:
GAG60867 Mannheim to Einsiedlerhof at 17:20.

Pick your favorite freight loco. For me it was the Vectron.
There is a wait at the start to clear traffic and lots of AI early on. You have a close call with a freight at Ludwigshafen.

You then catch up to a S1 service which you pass at Neustadt.

You are put in the hole at Weidenthal for about 15 minutes with some nice trainspotting of traffic both ways, including a TGV. Five minutes after an S1 leaves, you are released by the dispatcher for the rest of the run to Kaiserslauten.

Great run on such a lovely route. I was a bit surprised to see that this run moved SKA just ahead of SEHS in total miles driven and not far behind DRA in my personal top three. I am really looking forward to the next SKA makeover!

The spreadsheets should be up to date. Thanks for all the contributions. Just a reminder, I don't own all the routes. So, to include a run in the spreadsheet, please list:

    Route
    Run Number
    - with run description, and Starting Time
Relevant Timetable - if there is more than one for the route.
Ideally the Month. Many routes have seasonal services and that can be what makes the run great. Those not running in the proper month may not get the same experience.
    Loco

So many routes have intricate layers with other DLC. It is hard to keep up with that. However, if you know a certain add on is required for the run, please list it as well.

Finally, a brief description is helpful. And, it is always nice to have "surprises" hidden under a spoiler tag.

    Thanks again! - JWS

    Linke Rheinstrecke - 69750 (Parts 1, 2, and 3) beginning at 05:28 in the DB BR110

Combine parts 1, 2, and 3 for a 2.5 hour marathon early morning scenario with built in breaks. The 110 is underrated for freight, it has an extremely strong automatic brake and a weak dynamic brake, and that’s a huge challenge when you’re hitting yellow lights in dense February fog (as how I recommend you run it.)

You pull over to sidings 3 times during the combined scenario , with extended breaks of 30 minutes or more between each part. But there’s a slower train in front of you. Optimize your speed so you meet your timetable without running into constant yellows.

WCML -- Preston to Carlisle -- 9T05 Carlisle Trip Working
P1 starts at 09:24. Class 08. As of today, have done the first two parts, and part 2 is over an hour of running a Gronk around Carlisle, delivering wagons, running around, all in the midst of midday goings-on at Preston. Tons of other trains zipping by and in some cases over you, lots of going into some really nice nooks and crannies of this route. Remember to select the appropriate brake type.

    First Mildmay Line recommendation:

5J38 Stratford to Willesden TMD in the Class 710 at 22.03 (you only go as far as Camden Road)

Short but sweet ECS run where you have to weave between regular services resulting in multiple adverse signals with a couple of stops at reds. Be patient as the signals should clear once the service booked ahead of you at Camden Road should arrive

    Another one on Mildmay:
2N62 Stratford to Richmond at 7.38 in Class 378
You encounter traffic with adverse signals between Canonbury and Camden Road including a Class 66 sighting followed by sporadic yellows afterwards

There's some good freight runs on Mildmay.

Just did the 8.04 EWR service from Camden Road to Stratford and you are under caution signals nearly all the way. Good test of managing throttle and brake on the 66 with a heavy aggregates manifest.

The 9.46 EWR service is very similar but the service finishes pulling into a Stratford platform so you get a nice parallel arrival with the Elizabeth Line.

Can someone help me understand how these are supposed to be setup? An example:

    Glossop Line
2G02 Manchester to Hadfield via Glossop at 06:26
    BR Class 33 NT
Make sure you have the class 40 Rail Tour services layered in. You encounter adverse signals dealing with the rail tour and opposing traffic.

    1) I don't have the BR CLASS 33 NT showing up in my list when I choose the route and then go Timetable, even though I own the train?
I can select either On Foot, Class 323 NT, Class 158/0 EMT, LMS Jubilee, Class 20 RF, Class 37/5 RF, Class 40 BLU and Class 66 EWS.

    2) What does "Make sure you have the class 40 Rail Tour services layered in" mean? and how do I do this?

    1) do you have the West Somerset route? This is needed for the Class 33 to appear.

    2) it means you need to make sure the Class 40 (BR Heavy Freight Pack) for it to appear.

Yes, I own West Somerset, BR Class 33 Add-On and BR Heavy Freight Pack and have them installed.

I think the Class 33 NT is a typo. Should be Class 323 NT

Does a tick in the Layers mean it's activated? On the Glossop Line, I can select 21 layers, they all seem to be ticked by default. With all these ticked, does that mean there should be more traffic congestion / more chances of a red light?

Or does deselecting them all and only having the Rail Tour 40 selected, create a more challenging timetable as suggested in the doc sheet?

Thank you, Spacedeck , jack#9468 , and Clumsy Pacer for pointing this out. The typo has been corrected. Spreadsheets are up to date.
As a reminder to all, I suspect that routes and other DLC are going to be coming to come out faster than I get purchase them. So, to get a run in the spreadsheet, please provide the following:
    Route
    Run Number
    - with run description, and Starting Time
Relevant Timetable - if there is more than one for the route.
Ideally the Month. Many routes have seasonal services and that can be what makes the run great. Those not running in the proper month may not get the same experience.

Thanks to all for this community effort cataloguing fun experiences is TSW. It is always the first place I look when I have some time for TSW.

If your machine can handle it, grab all the layers available to you. This creates more traffic on the line and significantly increases the chances of having a challenging run.

Mittenwaldbahn. Yesterday I failed, it was supposed to be a nice evening but it ended up being nerve-racking. Choose a train set of 111+6 cars (I think IC) Innsbruck - Garmisch - set the weather to winter and rain. Good luck on the trail :)
