It's always great to get the rare opportunity to spend some time in the cab of operational trains and even better to talk to drivers and staff and get real insight into what goes in to driving them. These opportunities don't come up too often so it's exciting when they do!

A possible hint of an upcoming WCML route for TSW?

The thing to learn from this is that the closer you get to simulate what happens on the real railway such as random incidents and delays, the more entertaining and wider appeal TSW will have.

Very great. It's that possible that u can make the project of the Southeastern Railway route between St. Pancras or London Victoria to Faversham with Class 377 & 395?

I don't know whether that implies that it's for TS2019 instead, but it kinda annoys me that they're still developing that instead of allocating those resources to fixing TSW.

On discord, according to NorthRail1. I'm kind of curious as to how this was worded, as it would be strange to tag this article in "Train Sim World" and not "Train Simulator 2019" otherwise.

It can't be "for TS2019"- the article isn't tagged as TS2019, the thread in that forum is locked, and they already have Virgin branded 390's, I think.

I don't think it is for TS2019 because that already has the class 390 and the West Coast Main Line.

If this did come to tsw, maybe the class 390, 350 and reuse the class 66 with a DRS livery from rugby to stafford.

As I find driving modern trains too easy, it might be fun to recreate a full on driver test.

I wonder if any train cos use DTG for their simulators - it's an obvious revenue stream.

Anyways, if this is for TSW it's irrelevant to me as my hardware can't handle it.

They (dtg) must have known the implications of posting a Virgin Trains recon story. Theres got to be a pay off at some point.

What’s the point in posting it on the TSW page if it’s not TSW related? I’m still holding on to the hope it is eventually coming out on TSW and of course they’ll deny it until they’re able to 100% confirm it.

Which is why I find it odd people say it’s not coming out for TSW. Why post it in two sections if it’s only applicable to one of the two?

I fully expect a tiny branch of the WCML, say Sandwell & Dudley to Wolverhampton.

(Tongue in cheek comment if anyone takes that seriously..)

I still think we’ll see a Virgin dlc eventually, DTG don’t get invited to their HQ for no reason. I expect it to drop sometime in Q2 2020.

That’s true, which may make things easier as it won’t be a current route.

I really hope this is a new WCML route but it's been a year now and no news as well as the fact that Virgin Trains has been replaced by Avanti West Coast I'm not so sure now.

With Virgin having cancelled their license, it's probably safe to assume any WCML project that may or may not have been in the making as cancelled.

I don't see how you can come to that conclusion. Just because Virgin is no more is hardly a reason for not having a route featuring Virgin trains. Matt's said they plan routes 12-18 months ahead so DTG's probably already got most, if not all, of the photos and sounds they require.

I was talking about the license getting cancelled, not the availability of photographic recources etc. As to what makes me think so: The retirement of anything TS2020 that included Virgin branding from Steam was quite a hint.

All this assuming there even was a Virgin DLC for TSW in the making to begin with.

    I think londonmidland isn't far off - a 5km route with 400 services (well.. I joke too :) )

No its possible as look at the image on the first post, that's not a photo - we shall see, I get impatient start of the year as it takes a lot of us artists to get into gear, we'll no doubt see a new route March time.

Matt has said himself that a Pendolino would be difficult and very time consuming to model due to how many different carriage interiors and differences there are on a Pendolino train. Plus there are 9 and 11 car variants.

I personally don’t expect to see the Pendolino any time soon for TSW.

In other words, not only have DTG seemingly lost their capability to model large stations. The last one was, what? Jamaica? Darlington? Does that count as large? Don't say Brighton, that's re-used from TS2020. And don't say Hagen, that's re-used from RSN. Lewes might count though, not exceptionally large but with a fairly complex layout.

But also, they aren't able or willing to manufacture vehicles that are less than 70% copy and paste? I mean, filling the DoSto coaches (the space that was taken up by the toilet in the cab car) with seats in the middle cars was too much too ask, apparently. Well good thing they aren't trying to make the next generation of train simulators, I guess... no wait, they are...

That image is just a stock image produced by Virgin at least 5 or 6 years ago, DTG had nothing to do with creating it. I've seen it in various articles about Virgin Trains over the years.

I’m starting to think this platform isn’t worth investing in. I know many will disagree with my own opinion, but to keep funnelling my hard earned £££ into a franchise which has excuses like this, is just crazy. Microsoft Flight Sim 2020 FTW.

Leeds, Manchester are large. and I would say Darlington is a fairly large station, they have modelled quite a few. I can see no evidence that suggests they have lost their capacity to model large stations. They have modelled large yards and some fairly complex areas of track work on several routes.

Are you saying they used the same model of Brighton as the one for TS20 something, I forget when it was made? Is that actually a fact?

As for modelling a Pendolino maybe they do not want to spend the development time and money on a time consuming project at the moment, that doesn't mean we won't see one in the future.

Yes, it's the same model. It's a bit disappointing as it's the biggest station on the route.

Look at these textures, that's not TSW standard. To be fair, it seems to have been revamped in some areas (platform textures for example) and the UE4 technology helps it along too of course. But still...

There's nothing wrong in upgrading existing assets in itself, but please make it so you can't see it at first glance.

I can live with stations looking how they currently look.

I’d like to see more trains on routes, I want to be held at a red signal to allow an express service past at rush hour, I want the tracks to feel alive. Approaching Paddington feels more like you’re approaching a station in a minor town rather than a major station in London.

Brighton station isn't that bad in TSW, but when DTG are only producing half the route and including little new rollingstock, the least they could do is produce a new model of the main station instead of recycling an 8 year old asset. Either that or drop the price.

Yep. Like I already said elsewhere: Where exactly did all that development time go that DTG blames, is the route cause for all that's wrong with TSW in the community's eyes? That was not a rhetorical question.

its the WSR curse all over again - they market TSW as a sim where you can walk around, why would you want to walk around and look at stuff like that :D what resolution is that anyway? like 240p - right where you can walk?

    pride and accomplishment

They're refering to the low resolution textures used on Brighton station in the image above. If you're going to have a game where the players are encouraged to explore stations looking for items to collect, then there should be more of an effort made on the quality of the stations, rather than reusing 8 year old Railworks textures.

I can't say I have noticed the textures being particularly bad to be honest.
