On the cajon pass rail journey chapter 'trial by fire' the service z elpsdg6-04 seems broken. When starting the service, you will be spawned on foot in a random part of the map and it is not possible to take over the service. Has anyone else experienced this or know of a fix? Playing on PlayStation 5
Which version of TSW are you talking about? Do you have an older version? Ex, If trying on TSW4 but ths issue, maybe TSW3 would be better? To take over the service, you spawn on foot at the right place and at the right time. As need for the time, adjust to make more time. Ex If you spawned at 12 noon and the train takes off either before you get on the train or before you get a chance to take over, then spawn on foot at 11:55 AM. And so forth/ETC.. 11:55 AM to late, 11:50 AM.
I can confirm that its happening on TSW5 on Steam as well ever since the last update. Random timetable services now seem to spawn on foot rather than in the cab. There doesn't appear to be any pattern to where the spawning on foot takes place. Not all services seem to be affected but its definitely happening on my PC version.
Yeah I like Cajon Pass so I’m going back thru getting Platinum medals on the services that have it. Played this one last night and it was spawning me on foot. I don’t recall this happening on my first play thru. If you really want to do this service, you may have to literally hijack the train. This is what I did, may not be the best way, but I was improvising. You can keep restarting the service until it spawns you near the train just north of Victorville. You won’t be right beside the train so you gotta be quick and run to it, but it will start moving since the AI takes control so you can’t reach the locos before it speeds off. You’ll be about 8+ cars behind the locos. After trying quite a few other things, I finally climbed aboard the closest car just as it started moving and just made my way to the front of the train by running along the cars. They were stack cars on my train, but you may not be able to run along other types of cars. Once I reached the locos, I tried to sit in each driver seat but the AI wouldn’t surrender the train since it was moving and I couldn’t stop it with the emergency brakes or anything. Got so frustrated I decided to decouple the lead loco with the AI driving really hoping to just derail the train since the AI wouldn’t give it back. But that stopped the rest of the train. The AI started to drive off again in the lead solo loco. I sat in the driver seat of the second loco and it let me take control of the service. Once I took control, the first loco also stopped. So I ran to it and backed it up to recouple with rest of train. Once I figured this out I did it all over again and was able to stop and retake the train in less than 2 miles. I backed it all the way to it’s starting point just to make sure I got the AP to hit Platinum. Not an ideal workaround but yeah.
