Hi everyone. I’ve decided to the create an “official” thread for my work-in-progress. Several weeks ago, I got to grips with Neil Cunningham’s RWKlon, and successfully merged the Crewe area of the North Wales Coastal line into the Hope Valley Line. I then laid approx. 35 miles of track to connect the areas and create two new routes for Trainsim: · The Crewe to Manchester line from Crewe North Jn to Adswood Road Jn just south of Stockport. · The Styal Line from Wilmslow Station to Slade Lane Jn, including the spur to Manchester Airport. As I’ve previously discovered, laying the track infrastructure is the “easy” bit – now comes the unenviable task of filling in a large sea-of-green with stations, road, fields and about a million trees… The image below shows the route, with the new bits in the red boxes Route Map by thethirdrail posted Feb 20, 2025 at 9:19 PM Placing 35 miles of assets is a daunting task, and previous experience has taught me that modelling key parts of the line, and filling in the smaller gaps that this creates in-between, breaks the route down into more manageable sections which definitely does help. With that in mind, I decided to start with Holmes Chapel station, for no other reason that the fact that I used to live there. Laying countryside is tedious, but I always enjoyed modelling the stations. I’m happy with it so far, but there’s still a bit to do. Route Screenshot 3 by thethirdrail posted Mar 1, 2025 at 10:29 PM Wilmslow station. This needs better station building assets, but at the moment it’ll have to do. I’m pretty happy with the twin viaducts. Route Screenshot 4 by thethirdrail posted Mar 1, 2025 at 10:29 PM Route Screenshot 5 by thethirdrail posted Mar 1, 2025 at 10:29 PM That’s all for now. Route building can be a very time-consuming process and this promises to be a bit of a labour-of-love and won’t be finished anytime in the very near future, but while progress is slow, it’s steady. FYI, if you want to drive this route when it’s finished you will need the following installed: Route Screenshot 6 by thethirdrail posted Mar 1, 2025 at 10:29 PM I’ve created a FB page for the route which I’ll try to update on a regular basis. Any “Follows” would be much appreciated. When the mainline is finished, I’ll made a copy available for download for your pleasure/constructive criticism. Cheers for now!
