As you may know, DTG have yet to add an official LNWR livery for the WCML. When could we see it implemented?
Whenever LNWR grant the licence. Which could be tomorrow or never, although at the moment the latter is more likely. I believe DTG have basically said not to expect it any time soon.
Technically they did have the licence, then LNWR pulled it. We don’t know why and DTG ain’t saying, so it really depends whether the cause was something that can be subject to rapprochement, or whether it was, “Fudge off, we don’t want our brand in a game.” Personally I think the first more likely, otherwise they would have insisted on the trains and their stations being pulled which would have left WCMLS dead in the water.
Without getting too off topic and purely speculation of course, my personal opinion was that it was the “leaked content” that caused it to be pulled. But there you go. Is the loss of branding a massive issue in game? Not really in all honesty, like the Island Line, it’s still a very good representation!
I imagine that, when a company terminates a licence agreement out of the blue like that, its most likely a permanent thing. I could have been pulled because of the leak or because of the videos of tsw train crashes on YouTube or something else. What ever the reason, there must have been a serious breach in the agreement. It doesn't bother me as there's a branding patch for pc. And I imagine there's cc liveries also.
That plus maybe seeing what a mediocre job Rivet were doing, as a result of the leak. Guess DTG were lucky they didn’t pull the plug entirely and lose the route as well.
Still a totally stubborn and shortsighted decision making from railway operators to block their licences. Your companys brand ingame, is an advertisement multiplicator for bringing more people and maybe tourists on the network.
The only two bits I can recall from DTG was that Alex originally explained that it was a license they thought they had (perhaps through using WMT on BCC as it's basically the same company) but it turns out they didn't. So the company decided they didn't want the specific LNWR branding used. Matt then later speculated that some of the remaining private TOCs are less keen to bother doing deals with DTG as they are all due to be nationalised under GBR in the coming years.
This has been covered a few times now. Until the license holder changes, there will be no change. Railway companies have their hands full operating a train service, catering for a games studio is not high on their agenda.
