Yeah, we can but hope. I personally think if it's mixed correctly - it'll sound good - AP sounds are always great, but it was (as people have mentioned) Rivet's own audio mixing that made the sounds all horrible, as they are now...
Only time will tell I guess. Fingers crossed, eh!

Some Class 150 and Class 153 services will also feature Conductor Mode, with functioning Guard panels similar to other British rolling stock.

hang on some Class 150 and Class 153 services will also feature Conductor Mode there's no DDO its fully guard operated ? they removed the cab door buttons

unless some services are empty stock moves that would make sense but surely all the services should be conductor mode or driver mode why only some services will have conductor mode ??

I think it means like WCML Preston Carlisle, where only some of the services feature guard mode

After comparing the preview to the AP preview, I think it's very similar and the sounds have been improved. Will eat my words if I'm wrong but all hope is not lost.

    entirely possible.

I don’t think the sounds were necessarily bad. I think it’s how it’s mixed with the physics. The article does say new sounds, under the doors anyway….

Interestingly no stream at 1800 as stated in the Q&A…

I'm still trying to keep a glass half full opinion, I really am. I don’t want to be a “basher,” but I also don’t want to be an apologist. DTG have had more than enough opportunities with me to get DLCs right and my trust is dwindling thin. Really eager to see this stream, and curious to know why the roadmap stream hasn’t happened yet.

Something I just remembered. When the 170 had its very first walk around Preview video people instantly noticed how bad it sounded. Though not to perfection, the sounds were later on improved on the Preview Stream of the full route just before release. This could be the very same thing we are looking at here with the 150. The Preview stream on the 12th will be interesting.

Lighting at Cardiff also going to be updated, or “looked at” confirms a sterile look for launch… shame, hopefully an update does come.

That being said, I’m really appreciative that they held their hands up about the 150. I guess, if an update doesn’t come, then it will only serve to erode trust more.

Hopefully. I’ve spent a lot of money on DTG products, including on MS:FSX:SE and FSW. Release after release and there’s always problems. EA get held to much higher standards, I don’t know why DTG don’t.

anyway, enough negativity. The route is going to be great… he says… *fingers crossed*

Nos da, pawb. Got a long day in work tomorrow after that rollercoaster of a day.

Let’s all try and sleep on it and await the preview stream on the 12th. I’m gonna have to wait to buy, payday isn’t until the 21st :D

Looking good, glad to see some proper route endings on there - shame Barry Island didn't make it though, a fun little terminus.

I'd definitely love to see a slightly backdated timetable to about 2018 with 142 and occasional 37 hauled valley trains. Would definitely pay a few extra £ for more Pacer action (maybe even a Class 143 add-on).

What the heck - what’s one more reply before bed. :D:D

Would the 143 realistically add much to the game, though? I mean, sure, it would be nice to add to the pacer line up. I could see them just remodelling the 142 and reusing the same physics and sounds etc.

it really is a shame they couldn’t go the extra 15-20 minutes to BYI. It would be a 100% buy then. I do prefer my longer routes.

Well that still doesn't bode well for release and looks like earlier promises about remixing the sounds have turned out to be empty. They already have the AP sounds so why would they need to record more? Just need someone who knows what they're doing to mix them and calibrate the physics properly. We know Sprinter type traction can be done properly from the SHG 158.

Aware the 385 is a Rivet product, but seeing as DTG have such a good relationship with Scotrail just now it would be great if they could go and get the sounds and fix it - just to finally get that sorted! Especially seeing as Matt said they went to Scotrail for the sounds for one of the Cardiff trains

Having watched the stream it didn't really do much to clarify things around the route, only really and strictly what was in the Road Map blog. The whole thing does seem like smoke and mirrors to me at the moment...

I haven't had a chance to watch the stream, only getting in from work within the past hour, but have looked at the clip with that bloody annoying music overlayed and it has raised concerns. I really do want to get the route to support more routes away from the usual SE electric focus, but at the same time if I want to hear a tumble dryer the wife has one in the utility room, so the Rivet 150 sounds aren't needed.

Were there any key takeaways from the stream in case I don't get a chance to revisit it?

which developer is based in Scotland who often works on routes with DTG? I’ll give you a clue, it isn’t Just Trains!

Thanks very much for your clue - I nearly said Just Trains! I'm going to guess that dev is High Iron?

Jokes aside, I'm well aware Rivet is the dev in Scotland that often works on DTG routes - in fact I even said the 385 was a Rivet product in my previous post. Matt has said in previous streams that Scotrail have been very accommodating, and he said in the Roadmap stream that the sounds came from Scotrail one of the Cardiff trains (can't remember which one).

    My point is simply:

DTG should capitalise on the current good relationship with Scotrail and take this opportunity to get the 385 sounds, regardless of which dev/team gathers the sounds and implements them - someone just needs to get it done.

That’s absolutely fair enough! I was implying the sounds that have come from Scot Rail might imply that there was some 3rd party involvement in the route, though we can’t possibly tell until we get hands on. One thing’s for certain though, this community will suss it out then it’s released!

Was it just me or the scenery on the route looks… basic, to say the least. Some buildings in immediate proximity do not look really detailed (Penarth shot), some textures look flat and lifeless like some on pre-TOD4 era routes. Also the shot with a viaduct going over the river doesn’t look pretty

Some ground textures looked awful. I keep on reminding myself it’s not the final product, but it’s not going to get loads done..

Here is a Pic so the 1220 train says Heath High Level. That is not a terminating stop. It is going to Caerphilly. Got this from the TSC Discord.

My apologies - I misinterpreted the tone of your last message.

Yes, certainly some Rivet hallmarks in this route - particularly the dashboard seems slightly resemblant of Rivet trains with it being pretty solid grey. WCMLS had some scarfs for like Rivet united or something, and there were like 'Rivet Pops' cereal or something in a shop, so I imagine that involvement may be quite easy to spot - unless they've been more subtle this time xD.

I do think DTG have been involved - Matt spoke about a trip the team took to Wales, but there may have been some support from Rivet too I suppose.

Ultimately if the route is good quality, it doesn't matter which dev made it - but I completely understand community concerns given previous content and track-records.

It's a shame because I was looking forward to purchasing both Mildmay and Cardiff, but with the current core issues I've put a hold on any purchases. I can't put more money into a game that I can't enjoy in its current state.

Hopefully those that do get it enjoy it, and it plays well on their devices - with good sounds! [DTG we need more emojis - a fingers crossed emoji would be a good start]

Remember this quote, if this DLC ultimately fails, prepare yourselves for this potentially being the last network style route.

    Lovely bit of gaslighting there.

Maybe Matt should consider a stronger stance on what issues are being allowed to flood into each release.

Every theme of content (other than the fantasy stuff such as Holidays etc) has been quite well received. It’s either the scope or the quality that’s been the problem.

Steam DLC that fails to deliver a realistic steam experience, won’t be received well.

BR Blue content that only ever features the same rolling stock, won’t be received well.

Intercity routes that don’t go between 2 cities, won’t be received well.

Network routes that consist of half chopped up routes mashed together, won’t be received well.

Content that has serious degradation issues for significant percentages of the playerbase, won’t be received well.

Content repeatedly releasing with a wide array of bugs which can be found within seconds by the playerbase, won’t be received well.

Content that shows a general lack of quality by way of poor attention to detail, won’t be received well.

Completely agree. I said in an earlier post - companies like EA get held to a VERY high standard, even they had games slip. But their customers kept at them and (for now) it seems like they’re listening.

Now I understand that on here some criticism may be “harsh” in some peoples eyes, but there always seems to be the opinion that DTG can do no wrong. The opinion that “this will fail because people don’t like it” is abhorrent.

I have seen plenty of constructive criticism here - particularly when it comes to the level of detail, attention to detail for that matter and the lack of care. If content fails, it’s because the quality is poor. If the devs take it that people don’t want x style route, with the criticism that’s wildly visible in their own platforms; then maybe they’re being naive, or ignorant.

Development of video games isn’t easy, I don’t think everyone’s saying “if I was involved, I could do this, this and this.” I think what most people are doing, (because there is some people who evidently just don’t care,) is showing that they’re passionate about the dlcs and they care more about its success than the actual developers. Thats how it feels.

DTG have fleeced a lot of people out of their hard earned money, if people keep letting them get away with sub-par releases they will just keep getting away with it.

I said before the live stream that there’s plenty of things that concern me. Lighting at Cardiff Central for instance. This is such a basic detail, and when Jan brought it up last night Matt seemed surprised and was very quick to say he would speak to the devs to see if they could implement it. This shows that on their reference trips, no one bothered to take note of the detail.

I really do feel like a broken record at this point. I want this dlc to exceed expectations and be a success no more than anyone else. Why would I want to see a local route, that I grew up with and work on (in some part) every day of my working life, fail. I don’t. I really want this to succeed. I appreciate the hard work that’s no doubted gone in to the dlc.

This is last chance saloon for DTG with myself, I’m afraid. The stream on the 12th will reveal all, and after that… I’m done. Unless DTG can show massive improvements in quality control and attention to detail. There really needs to be decent competition within this space, maybe then concerns wouldn’t fall on deaf ears.

Yes I remember that at the time. Only really a valid thing to pronounce if the resultant route and trains are tip top quality and the price is right. Otherwise it’s easy to turn out something in a poor state that then becomes the justification not to do that again. Actually we already saw that with TSW steam traction. Eagerly awaited and the usual manic gushing on the preview streams, only to be very botched, people called DTG out on it but instead of nodding their heads and going away to fix the issues, we got, “Oh well, steam doesn’t sell so no more for TSW and we’re not going to spend a couple £hundred on developer time to fix it either. You customers are all ungrateful wretches.” Or words to that effect.

Subjectively, it did. Even then, the SWC route still had inaccuracies. But, that being said, it was pretty decent all things considered.

Once again, the ill-fated Class 66. Given that we have this type since the TSW 2020 version and it is inserted into every modern route, it is necessary, at least, to conduct a remaster. This beautiful locomotive definitely lags behind most of the new types in TSW5 in terms of development.
