It would be great to see more route extensions like SEHS, they could either be free extensions the Levenmouth Branch or on longer extension they could be paid DLC. My first suggestion whilst unlikey due to tendency of a certain development team (he who shall not be named) to just dump routes when finished is... The Croy Line Extension + Dunblane Line It is a 27 miles extension including 7 stations From Polmont Jnc. to Carmuir West Jnc. Falkirk Grahamston Camelon From Greenhil Lower Jnc. to Dunblane and Alloa Larbert Stirling Bridge of Allan/Alloa Dunblane It features views of the Lowlands rolling hills and invites well requested full runs between Edinburgh and Glasgow to Stirling, Dunblane and Alloa as well as a longer stretch on the Azuma and HST. It would be great addition to a very linear route and would well welcome if it were to come to fruition. Most of the services are already included on Edinburgh to Glasgow with some late night serves still needing added. There is no new rolling apart from a missing livery on certain loco... wink wink and so should be pretty straightforward to develop. Thank you taking time to read this and now let's hear your ideas...
Wiener Neustadt - Wien, at least to Hbf, ideally also with Stammstrecke ... at least the mainline (tho there is also highspeed Pottendorfer Linie and local branch Aspangbahn), along with adding Siemens Desiro ML EMU to the game as the quintessential EMU when it comes to Austrian/OBB regional/commuter rail traffic Edit: so many possibilities here:
There seems little chance of DTG doing extensions. I mean there are several UK routes where this has been repeatedly suggested… GWE to Oxford plus the Thames Valley passenger and freight branches (excluding Heathrow due to licencing and BAA security concerns). TVL to Boulby and Bishop Auckland, or round the Durham Coast to Sunderland or Newcastle. NTP to York/Scarborough and/or Liverpool. East Coastway to Ore. Sadly though DTG not listening or not interested.
East Coastway would probably be wise to extend to Ashford now that we have route hopping. I really wish DTG would take these suggestions seriously rather than losing them in a fog of ignorance.
Again I draw attention to my 'Branch Line Mini Pack' group of threads where I discuss possibilities for these sections of UK routes without the requirement for full rebuilds. I believe that this currently is the only feasible way to include these parts.
-Extensions for Cajon Pass needed: BNSF Barstow-Mojave; UP Barstow-Yermo; UP Mojave-West Colton Yard with the full Palmdale Cutoff -Sherman Hill should get the third line added. -Peninsula Corridor should get remade; SP 1960s-70s power (FM Trainmaster or SDP45, GP9, Alco S4, and/or Alco RS-32) added; and an extension added to Gilroy
Extensions are a great idea to add life and give more purpose to current routes. However, as soon as this idea is brought before DTG it becomes a matter of how can they get paid or how can DTG package it for players to pay for it?
Well for GWE a Class 180 or Class 165, 2 and 3 car versions. TVL a Class 56. NTP well Deltics did briefly work over the route after being displaced from the ECML. And an extension rather than a makeover would IMHO justify buying the route again if done well and the price pitched accordingly with, as said, the sweetener of some additional rolling stock.
Yeah, new rolling stock would be nice for sure and would be a good selling point. It is not that DTG are against the expansion idea, but they are falling over the how to fund the expansion that everyone could get on board with it. I know some players would want it for nothing or for a low liw price, but if you have to use a whole team to create it, there are mouths that need to be feed, it is business. We are getting a free GWE remaster as part of soneones personal project, I wouldn't mind paying for the remaster or an expansion, but not everyone thinks that way and I guess that is why DTG are standing back from it.
Maybe DTG might give it a shot as there is a lot of extensions being asked for at the moment, fingers crossed.
