I am wondering why the Class 801 Azuma doesn't layer onto Scotrail Express at Edinburgh Waverly? Considering that the Class 801 layers onto the Fife Circle Line at Edinburgh Waverly. I don't get why the 801 doesn't layer onto Fife Circle. I am also curious if the Scotrail Class 158 will layer onto Scotrail Express when that releases and if 170 will also layer onto Scotrail Express at some point
It’s because it came out before the 801 was in the game. The devs don’t normally go back to old routes to add new layers when new stock comes out because the dev budget has already been used up for that route and they are busy making new stuff. Adding new content to old routes requires the whole timetable to be thoroughly tested to ensure any new services (player or AI) don’t cause any issues and that would require more time and money to be spent on the old content. It just doesn’t happen that often even for DTG routes.
Where Rivet "are eager to see where the 158/ 380 can layer into E-G and Fife" I suspect if the 801 will layer in, it'll be when these layers come out. Unless Joe works his magic
Beacuse Scotrail Express came out before the Class 801, and maybe there has some technical problem to solve, adding a new layer means a timetable change or even remake. It require time and money, but Rivet is more likely to focus on making new content, as the old content, that doesn't no matter. PS: Many bugs in older Rivet's route are still waiting to be fixed, but yet nothing has changed Or you can wait for someone's timetable mod including Class 801 or Class 170 for EDG, that's more likely to happen.
The 158 is layering onto E-G. The 380 is more to figure out where it would be appropriate - they only ran temporarily, of course, and that was secondary to the 365s/170s. I would imagine, if there was an timetable overhaul (which E-G could do with) the 380 would do Edinburgh-Haymarket (for Glasgow) runs - with the 385 substituting in - and the North Berwick line runs; with the 170/158 and 801 on the Tweedbank/Fife/Glasgow routes as needed. I doubt, without a full overhaul, that the 380 will appear. (Unless, of course, Skyhook do one.)
I see. This sounds a bit odd to me because they already have a timetable for the 801 on Fife Circle. All that would have to be done is take that timetable and put in on Scotrail Express and of course test it and even then, the 801s do not run on the same track as the 385s as far as I know. (Please correct me if I am wrong). Considering the amount of money these DLC's cost, I don't think it's certainly impossible nor unreasonable that layers can be added to older routes such as Scotrail Express especially since older routes have had timetable additions before. London Commuter comes to mind. I think that there should be better foresight and planning when it comes to adding layers to existing routes. If the 158 is going to be layered to Scotrail Express as someone pointed out here for instance, then there should be some plans in future to at least add 801s in my view but I do understand your point
I don't see it as a necessity to add the 380s considering that they only ran temporarily since the 385s were delayed from entering service I believe due to a window issue. The 801s, 158 and 170 would make more since because they would give some life to Edinburgh Waverly and the 158s would give some life at Glasgow Queen Street stations as they run on the route in real life
I think the 380 would be a similar situation to the pacer on WCL, where it doesn't appear in the base timetable but you can run it as a Substitute for the 385.
Bump this thread with same question. I want to drive my favorite train (801) on my favorite route (Edinburgh-Glasgow)! I have TSW4 (for PC, from Steam) and ECML & Edinburgh-Glasgow DLCs. In DLC information Azuma marked as playable layer on E2G route... but I can not see playable 801 on E2G route. Is this problem remains in TSW5? May be exist add-on 3d party timetable?
To clarify, the gameplay in the 801 is extremely limited unless you use free roam/scenario planner. I wouldn’t throw loads of money at this, you only get a handful of services which are 5-15mins.
Did you catch the free starter pack when that was around? If not, I wouldn't bother for now - it's a stutter fest!
So, TSW5 is installed, with all ~30 DLC which I bought for TSW4. And yes, 801 is driveable on E2G line, but only for Edinburgh-Polmont short (~20 mins) route. Ok, it`s better than nothing)
