Controlling parameters currently can be done in two ways. Either by tweaking the parameter by going to said parameter in the loco, moving the camera at the right spot, pointing the cursor at it then tweaking it or more quickly by hitting a key. But what if a player forgot/doesn't know where a parameter is located or which key is to press? My idea therefore is a third option to control a parameter, by providing an easy-to-use Hub window, which can be brought up using a key (like the F1 key) and then shows all parameters the loco has available in a comprehensive view all together and then you can tweak the parameters from inside there. No longer need to finding a certain valve in the machine room or remembering a key! A control HUD like that would enhance the accessibility to a loco to players who forget how to use a certain loco after a while or aren't familiar with it yet. The idea is inspired by another software I used which allowed to combine controls for parameters, which lie far off each other at big interface, into a smart handy part of the screen. These kind of parameter controls were called macros. Thanks for reading!
I believe I had proposed sth similar quite a while ago, but for MU stuff or stuff that you would have to cross to the other end (loco) or cab to set up... lets say you are changing ends and you forgot to set brakes to full in the dostos and left the brake key in... sth that would let you change that without teleporting would be nice or a screen that would let you set up / check MU settings in a consist, I believe Run8 has sth like that to set locos up
Run 8 does indeed have a pop up box which allows you to get the locos going, including DPU’s,with a few mouse clicks. Obviously if you want to get into fencing etc. then you need to delve deeper but for 95% of the player base it’s a great quick start that gets you rolling in less than a minute.
