I have to say WSR is looking fantastic it's definitely on par with JT the scenery is great the route is running smoothly so credit where it's due great job by everyone
Maybe....but whether you have an interest in toy trains or not, you still benefit from those WSR enhancements.
Tbf when it was remastered it was great but now it's even better imo definitely a route i would pay £30 for with the quality of it unlike some others I could mention
I've just sat down for a little play time with the 33 and wow I'm loving it so far. The 33 was one of my favourites anyway now with the new clag? and suspension I love it even more! The main thing I'm noticing is just the foliage. The line side looks beautifully done with flowers bushes and colour. I was having such a great time I forgot about the woeful brakes on the 33 and unfortunately spad This is what frustrates me though, DTG are capable of this kind of quality and WSR is beautiful and it's smooth.
I've always shied away from this route due to the low speed. But I have to say, it's had too many improvements for me to ignore it any longer. May be just the thing I need when I want a relaxing run.
Honestly you and the team have done a wonderful job here! It's absolutely beautiful! Was it just suspension on the locos? Just wondering if the clag changed? Whatever it was loving it so far!
Entirely unrelated Driver Vern, but how do you take your tea and what type of biscuit would you like to dunk iin it
I can offer you the last Maxpax paper cup of tea lukewarm, one of those tiny cartons of what pretends to be milk you get in the roadside cafe, and some six month out of date jaffa cakes that have gone hard so they're classed as biscuits
WSR is a real star and should be the sort of quality DTG aim for on all releases. Liam & Co did an incredible job with it.
I haven't driven it yet, but I have been for a bit of an explore on foot. Is it me, or is being able to get onto the beach at Minehead a new thing?
It’s a great route for relaxation and I’ve been to the real thing. Adrenaline inducing it is not on account of the speed limits. The 5 one is especially restrictive, when you can climb down and outrun your loco it’s bit frustrating!
That was added in the first remaster update around a year ago. There was a new area in this update at Watchet. If you head towards the sea front you'll see a path going up the hill, where you can get a good high up view of the town and railway.
That's great Liam I didn't know that I will have an explore later thank you again for your great work and the team
I did not know this! I have family in Watchet so know the area well. The promenade is a little on the skinny side from what I can see but I guess everything can’t be completely as is in real life, but it’s close enough!
Aye the suspension would need to work, don't want your Maxpax flying all over the place Let's do it in Thomas' cab then, should be nice and comfy in there, plus Thomas can give his feedback too because thats what talking trains do
I have always loved WSR and visit when l am in Somerset. I’ve not had time to see the changes and thought l heard that you can sit on Platform seats. Is this right?
The passengers can now as they weren't functional before. There are a few benches around the route where you can sit though.
That’s super cool. I remember heading up that path when I visited Watchet in mid-2023. Will have to check it out in-game this weekend!
Thank you Liam. That is brilliant! Also thank you for all your hard work in making this such a quality and wonderful route for everyone to enjoy.
It's very pretty, but yesterday I noticed people falling through (!) the footbridge at Williton onto the tracks below.
Route side of things, the foliage materials have all been upgraded, the tracks have extended shadows, passengers now use the footpaths across tracks, seats and bridges, some new scenic areas, night lighting plus a few other bits. For the stock side, every WSR train got suspension and the Mk1's got guard mode. I think this is related to a core issue with passengers but I'll take a look.
Just to say there was also some passengers walking off the platform and onto the track at Crowcombe Heathfield but that's clearly a core issue as you said but other than that it was great
I think the passengers getting in the path of trains is definitely something that needs to be sorted before TTTE arrives. It might be bloodless and an unintended core consequence but it is not going to impress either Mattel or the parents of young children as their youngsters play this.
I‘ve always enjoyed WSR as a nice relaxing run, and last years remaster by Liam was already fantastic. I didn‘t expect this update it take it to another level again though. Really loved the run I did yeaterday. If we have Thomas to thank for it, then I say thanks little blue loco! Please also visit Frankfurt Fulda, North London Line etc
