To answer an earlier question about the accuracy of the cab of the 150… image.jpg

IMO - it’s decent. BUT, there is something about the outside model that feels… off… can’t put my finger on it, though.

Are they normally neutral and balanced or do they tend to shy away from being too critical?

British Ace seems ok. I’ve not found his opinions overly biased. But I’ve not watched a whole lot of him recently.

Richy Rail (I know he wasn’t mentioned) on the other hand… he seems to have somewhat biased views. But happy to be wrong about him. His videos are fine and engaging.

What happened to DadRail, he used to be quite balanced?

Dadrail has a video premiering in about 11 hours time. Haven’t watched him in a couple years so don’t know how balanced his views are these days.

richy rail - a separate channel - doesn’t appear to have a premier, but does often review new routes. I’ve not noticed him point out any flaws, or have what you would call balanced views. But that could just be me.

Noticed TinTin_57 has a preview at 10am too. Not sure how impartial he is - anyone able to shed light on his videos?

For me Richy Rail and Tin Tin tend to be less critical, and less keen to call out poor work. British Ace is pretty balanced, and Dad Rail seems to do less on the Ambassador front. When he does, he's always very honest and points out all the flaws. Don't watch the others so can't comment!

The 153 does appear to have brake rubbing sounds.

Just watching British ace now… he did call out the lack of guard buzzer, so far so good in terms of balanced he is. Will watch the rest of his video as and when I can.

    153 buzzer sounds weird - won’t lie.

Nitpicking here maybe - as a guard when I’m closing the local door on a 153, the hustle alarm doesn’t sound; but it does in game. That’s going to annoy me slightly :D not unplayable for most of course.

Noticed that with RichyRail… I remember seeing one of his videos on TSC and he didn’t know how to tell which signal would be what colour without the HUD…. So… take that how you will…

British ace did just say he’d have liked to have seen Barry island too.

British Ace is pretty good at not selling anything, he is pretty impartial and is happy to pick fault when justified. He seems to encounter the same recurring frustrations with (it's not our problem if we call it) Core Issues. TrainSimTV also does good content where issues are not glossed over.

I tend to watch the streams to see for myself how good a route looks. Not for a critique of the ambassadors!

Personally I'm the same, however it's sometimes hard to look past their simpering praise of a route that is clearly with significant issues. This does happen.

I thought Dadrails video was fairly good (noticed the horrible hedges too) although the Coryton branch he did was one of those areas with better scenery (Apart from Whitchurch :(). He also found TPWS didn't work at the end of the line station and mentioned Cardiff was a bit dead.

Coryton has quite overgrown vegetation in the 4ft and cess. That’s what’s frustrating here. The route is BRILLIANT in some places and so poor in others…

    Just watched TheBritishAce stream.

Yep, agreed Coryton branch is the standout! In an area where the scenery is quite generic apart from the Cardiff Central area, the branch is really nice.

153 sounds again, notch 1-2 just seem to be at idle and notch 3 basically cuts out at 5mph.

Watching one of British Ace’s previews and he encountered a signal that required him to close the doors to pass, I’m not sure why DTG or whoever made the timetable is still making it work this way when we’ve known since the Bakerloo release this isn’t correct behaviour, sad

I’d just like to add my two cents regarding my reviews. I am by no means an expert so some things that may be wrong I don’t notice or am not aware of! I like to see myself as more of a casual rail fan who enjoys being about to drive trains in a game and learn along the way! That being said, if I see something that doesn’t look right I often acknowledge it!

With respect to the TSC content you may have seen from me, I’m quite new to TSC and I’m still getting used to keyboard controls. I’m a console player at heart so take that as you will!

Editing my message because of typos….

Fair enough Richy - In no means was this this meant as disrespectful in any way. Feel I need to clarify that as I wouldn’t call my written communication a strong point! I do appreciate the acknowledgement, though.

Personally happy to be proven wrong with opinions too - I do still watch your content, even if I don’t agree with how you cover reviews. Said earlier that I do find your videos more engaging.

This Branch is generally really well done in terms of scenery apart from Whitchurch and some horrific copy pasted hedges. Like some areas are beautifully made and others are a little off imo :)

Same here, for most of the Coryton branch and 153 I'm in, for the 'Can't be bothered' type scenery I'm out...
    Really not sure.

The initial previews have done little to reassure me or make me take back any statements. All seems to be well founded... Aside from the extremely mediocre quality of the build which at this point is ridiculous for TSW5, we were told that the timetable wasn't a 1:1 (again there should be no reason the timetable couldn't be, but I digress), but the timetable included seems semi accurate but not full or realistic, and AI the same... Deflating much. What happened from progressing to full timetable to then make half axxx ones? Surely a set back that is completely unnecessary?

As Matt put it in the stream last week "if it isn't for you don't buy it", yep, definitely not... I think at this stage I'll only buy it if the 153 or 150 have layering options on future routes. And to clarify again so there's no uncertainties, I am not buying it because it's quality is not line with the evolution of the game, NOT because I don't like network routes (which I absolutely do).

Then you got Matt Gaslighting us here when he said back in August if it doesn't sell they don't make networker routes. It aint't gonna sell if the quality isn't up there!
Going to think carefully about it I think.

Exactly mate. I don't play FCL for the exact reason, I got it mainly for the 170 and the hopes of Edinburgh being busy and the scenery being amazing but was disappointed and said to myself I learnt a lesson from that one.

Honestly might end up flipping a coin on it, because I know the money could be spent on something else, but I am so tempted by the routes best features.

Only think the 153 be the tempting thing but I can't justify at all. Cardiff Central being dead. Bad Scenery. etc

Watched some of BA’s video & still seeing that the track shadow draw distance is the older, closer rendering system.

Whitchurch still looks an absolute mess though, those flats are simply not acceptable for such close scenery. Just compare those ones to the Birchgrove blocks - insane difference, the Whitchurch blocks literally have no textures applied.

The 153 though has some excellent sound setup, the rumble & revving on it is by far some of the most immersive I’ve heard, even beating the 158.

For PS5 users, he did preview on a PS5 so probably worth taking a look, I haven’t watched a lot of it but the 20ish minutes I did catch, didn’t see any texture loss (other than where there weren’t any in the first place).

Can’t say I’m swayed overall. The 153 is great, but it looks like the route was on track to be really, then someone pulled the plug on development before it got there.

Looking at the Hedge textures as well as Dadrail, very generic and not much effort put into it and also with the Rivet buildings as well. Its something any of us could do with the Scenery. Very basic. Only thing I would struggle with is the track laying and signalling. Pretty sure there are devs around here who could argue my opinion or agree with it. But it surely it isn't rocket science?

It does sound like two different teams built the route.

I will watch a stream out of interest.

Another Grudge Dadrail has mentioned and many of us here. No guard buzzing back on the route. Again dovetail not listening to the customers. I just don't get it.

One thing I have to say about the signals… routing in to central from ninian park and Grangetown …. The theatre boxes display the platform numbers irl and not letters….

though on xbox a sale is once in a blue moon and certain DLC you don't want

I'm gonna throw some screenshots into the feedback thread once it's up and see if they do any updates or fix any of the scenery. I do like it and the 153 but not for £30 with those issues we've all spoken about. It may be a sale purchase for me too honestly.

But there have been several routes on my wishlist for ages with no sales for them :D

This is what I have been saying, the notches are too low. Most drivers in real life use the 3-5-7 notch method, with notch 3 on these sprinters being loud and revvy. However, 150/2 and 153 in game, when departing from clips I’ve seen, rev up somewhat fine but then the revs drop down WAY too low. These sprinters should behave similar to the class 158 from SHG.

If he keeps going at that rate they'll have nothing left to make, bit of a poorly thought out, childish statement.

This was mentioned on the live stream. Apparently they want to (at some point) implement an AI guard. They don't want to add just the "buzz buzz" back, because this is only triggered to the doors and isn't realistic....(Despite it being better than nothing, and adding to immersion)

....but apparently it's ok to close doors on a red signal, that's been a thing since forever.
