Mine when you do a 90 min route to be stuck at buggy red light 310yds from completing the job and go via points on top on red lights also what piiiiissssssseeeesssss me off is their answer for problems put a ticket whats the point nothing gets done just sits on pile with other few 1000 there. Also some trains drive so bad in the snow it just aynoys me even more.
Yes this has been a constant gripe of mine. I mean, TSC is set up so that doors only open at the passenger enabled section of a platform, so why can't TSW? Other irritations (as opposed to bugs): The distance shown as direct rather than travelling across the infrastructure. No F2 or F5 quicksave button (PC). The driver having to operate the doors and complete station duties where they wouldn't in real life. Nights too dark. Days too bright/adaptive eye.
The poor night lighting on many if not most routes. The anemic headlights, particularly on American locos. The lack of a multiple save feature which MSTS had 20+ years ago. Yes, that " adaptive eye " feature and other gimmicky stuff like the silly looking snow kickup. Why not spend the time solving real problems in the game. The dynamic weather feature which I can't use because there's a 90% chance of a pea souper, wherever you are and whatever the season. If I want a foggy day in London town, I can watch an old movie. And I'd like to hear from someone who left Fenway after a Summer ball game in thick fog.
OK, let's get this out of the system... I'll do a broad sweep and say, the thing which annoys me most is the baffling lack of care and maintenance by DTG. To them, TSW and its routes are their product and source of income. If I were them, I'd put quite some effort into keeping things as bug-free as possible, and update older content to keep it relevant, so it will continue generating revenue for as long as possible. Second thing which annoys me is this trend to settle for "good enough" when releasing new content. I could name numerous routes where the developers quite literally stopped at 90% and released them. But with just a little bit of extra effort, they could have come out more unique and worthy! A bunch of recent examples (please forgive me that they're all German routes, but that's my area of operation): Rosenheim-Salzburg: In its current state, it's another run-of-the-mill electrified main route. Looks nice, sure, but doesn't offer much different gameplay than at least 5 or 6 other German routes do. My suggestion: There are a number of small branches along the route, which would offer some more variety if at least some of them were included. We haven't had a German route with branch lines yet, except for Dresden-Riesa in some way, so that would have been a nice change of pace. Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn: Making a route featuring Ludwigshafen and not include the line into the gigantic BASF plant is a big wasted opportunity in my opinion. The services to and from the plant are even included, but all starting or ending at Ludwigshafen Hbf. All it would have needed would be building the industrial area and about 10km of tracks! Frankfurt-Fulda: Upon seeing the route, I was a bit disappointed because it didn't include the second line from Frankfurt Süd to Hanau, running north of the Main river. The timetable even includes a bunch of services which take this route, which have been split in two parts... one from Frankfurt Hbf to Süd, then the second part from Hanau onwards Again I've got to point to Dresden-Riesa as a positive example. Adding this alternative track would have given the whole route more of a "network" feel. Don't get me wrong, these are all nice routes, but they all lack this little bit of extra something to become more than just "nice"
The only routes that do this realistically are Cathcart and the Overground/Underground routes as they're DOO. Also semi-correct on the Azuma as the driver unlocks the doors.
Not at all related to any game issues, but it really annoys me when I spad right at the end of an hour long run (I did this on WCMLos the other day and was annoyed with myself). Maybe some sort of checkpoint feature. This is still a game after all.
Actually I would say it is a game issue. Is the " load last checkpoint " feature gone? Not that it was especially useful to be honest. Anyway I know the feeling. That's why I save about every 10 minutes. I hate having to start over from the beginning.
It's still there, showing up on the screen after failing the service. Had to use it a couple of times myself, I gotta admit
A few little things (in contrast to the major core issues) ★ Some freight consists didn't have tail lamps. ★ ROG 37 pack: the electrostars being toed, don't have tail lamps. ★ Some freight services have a tail lamp on the front of the 66. ★ On trains that feature an interactive GSM-R, it will randomly turn off at some point in the journey.
At the minute what is stopping me from playing very much, barring time constraints, is the issues in the core affecting all routes such as the sound blips, dodgy textures and general performance. However there are also factors such as the poor treatment of steam and the poor quality route building and limited scope in DTG's releases which don't drive me to play as often. Plenty of other things I could add, but frankly I don't have the patience to.
Ah yes, one more from me. The game insisting on switching back on those phoney coloured stop zones on the track every time you're forced to do something in the Training Centre.
A very clear lack of quality control and testing, especially on Xbox, combined with DTG's constant overrated hype/accelerated release schedule/spotty post-release support and patching And don't get me started on the joke that is the bug reporting ticket system...
The game forcing you to close the doors when the signal is red in order to proceed to the next station. Can't stand this happening and usually end up closing TSW as a result. Complete immersion breaker in my eyes.
The fact that a Thomas DLC is a thing that annoys me the most. It's basically resources that could've easily went towards bug fixes and major core fixes, and hell maybe revive steam in TSW, but NOOOOOOO let's do a Thomas DLC everyone... it's an absolute waste of resources
AI trains driving with panthograhp down if you want to shut down the train and a AI service takes it over. Is it driving on battery or what? And, of course, freezes and fps drops for no reason.
That they just gave up on steam traction. Still clinging to some hope they may resume it one day or surprise us all soon with a new steam loco or two out of the blue.
Just to note - it is possible to wait until the signal turns green, you don't have to do it on a red, despite the game prompting you to. Don't know if this is true for all routes though, I know it is for BPO, WCMLos and ECML as they're the only ones I've touched lately enough to notice.
depends on the service. older ones I think have the "close doors to complete" on the load/unload instruction. that tickbox is also on as default. In my timetable mod I try to turn those off. with some having dispatch beyond on or off. thus a service continuing off map you can actually leave the train you give over or signals will continue to path you after you stop or loading completes, not when the doors are locked.
The terrible Dynamic Weather. Fog, fog, fog every time. The weather changes too suddenly. Goes from nice and sunny to Silent Hill weather in 5 seconds. I just stick to manual weather settings now. Bit of a shame though…
Dynamic weather is one of those things that works properly on rare occasions. Last week, I was driving an evening express between Preston and Carlisle on a September date, and the weather transitioned perfectly into a thunderstorm. Started off sunny, started getting a bit dark. Then a bit of rain. And just like that, a smooth transition into a thunderstorm. Shame it doesn't do that often - that is the first and only time it's done it so well.
I usually do give it a few minutes before checking if it is an AI train blocking the path or just the timetable being finicky. It's really noticeable on Fife Circle and even WCMLOS as you've said. Weird about ECML though, as any reds I encounter have always been from an AI train running fast.
the core stock being absolutely terrible to drive, as a result of all dlc released being unfinished fire and forget dlc's. how interesting dlc is I'll leave to being a sense of taste. but for german content the double track passenger focussed routes with next to no yard or freight moves are starting to get a bit boring. luckily we have third party devs and mods. now sure how other countries fare but the broken AFB on the 185 and 146, the collection of DoSto's being broken in each their own way individually. PIS, passengers, rarely any quality control leading to just sad bug mentions that never get fixed really makes it feel like I'm playing an early acces title instead of the fifth iteration of a developer who has been doing this for a lot of years.
Red light issues that keep you from finishing your service, usually with the end point in sight. The fact that DTG totally ignores bugs on older routes. DLC prices are very high, and when you take bugs into account they're just too high. When the game spawns you on foot somewhere along the route iso in the cab of the train you're supposed to drive. The fact that DTG totally ignores bugs on older routes. Oh wait, did I say that already? Must be very important to me then
1. Lack of disruption in Timetable mode. You're mostly seeing green signals. 2. Lack of routes and traction that I love. Just London to Brighton at the moment route-wise and the Aventra and a few diesel locos (31/37/40/52). I know that's a very personal thing, but it becomes frustrating when only a one of TSWs reveals has made me punch the air in excitement.
Found another thing that annoys me: the fact that your savegame is automatically selected in the main menu. If you have an accidental button push it reloads the saved game... Why can't 'go to trains' be automatically highlighted in stead? Or maybe DTG can add an option to delete the save game.
Anyon know why the 350 makes an abrupt stop when slowing down from about 3mph? I'm pulling in gently at notch 10% brake, gets to about 2-3mph and then there's a sudden stop like it's gone into full service? I time my stops nicely with other units now I need to take into the account it's going to stop me short of the blue circle on the track
The main things that come to mind are; Dynamic weather - changes are way too extreme. Same generic platform announcements since TSW2. Weather resetting to clear after saving the game. Seeing some TSW2 quality modelling on new routes. The broken passenger system.
The fact that it could have had so much potential - after the years of learning that TSC brought, a chance to build the next generation of train sim, but with a decade newer technology. A decent editor, a smaller terrain mesh, an enhancement of the community that keeps TSC relevant and steady, if not thriving, years on. Instead a retreat from that approach, little documentation, an underlying engine that keeps the hobbyist at bay, basic core functions never resolved, the usual list. But the annexing of the community for routes, assets etc is the biggest annoyance to me
Okay maybe a route specific technical issue and not an overall criticism. I currently can’t finish a timetable service on Frankfurt. I keep getting back to back crashes on my PS5. I avoided this route altogether after all the negative feedback, I thought it would’ve been fixed by now, nope! May try disabling some layers next time I’m on as Frankfurt I’m getting like 15-20fps and that’s unacceptable for me.
Finishing a freight service at, let's say 8:24 and after stopping in the correct place seeing the instruction 'wait until 8:47'...
The ongoing Zfighting and audio popping issues on Xbox platform. I still don't get how these issues don't attract more attention on the fourms. Either there are hardly any xbox players, or many are just happy to settle for it.
Is this exclusively an Xbox issue? I’ve noticed it but because I don’t know any different I’ve just become used to it.
Zfighting is certainly an xbox only issue (below is one example of many) I'm almost certain the audio popping is too. You can hear it popping like an old record.
Take the brakes off and move forwards, it triggers the end of the service. It also works in loops where you have to wait for trains to pass
Just remembered another one though this is a Minor annoyance. Nothing too serious but it’s that Grey coloured highlighter which should really be Green when the game asks you if you still want to continue a service or give it up. There’s been a few times I’ve had to stop and think which option am I highlighting… I’m sure Matt did address this one and he does want to fix it but it’s a not so simple fix to do….
I am sure I have seen a job vacancy for a UI/UX designer (my profession) at DTG, they sure need one for certain things, would love to get my hands on it haha.
