Why does it matter if they run them anymore. They did used to run them and so there is nothing to be weirded out by. As long as they don't arrive saying hello with a creepy face on them I'll be more than happy with this DLC.
Because it continues the ‘Cargo Line Vol.’ series with a possible nuclear flask train, it gives us something other than another Class 66, and these DRS 20’s in pairs where THE nuclear flask train for a long time + DRS started as a nuclear commission service or something like that!
fair point, didn't know DRS used to run class 20s on Nuclear flask trains... Yknow whats better to haul Nuclear flask trains and can get a more modern diesel loco that TSW desperately needs... But then again, could be worse to get another bloody 66
This was probably the most exciting reveal for me lol, this is a good idea for a DLC, I like the TVL one but the DRS variant is the one I wanted in TSW. Maybe we'll get some nuclear flasks to go with it? that'd be cool.
The only BNF site I could think would fit onto a dlc would be heysham off the Morcombe branch on Preston to carlisle but DRS 20'S are not of that era.
You mean like this? (Not my photo) I mean, Skyhook would have to model the remote control in the loco cabs (or borrow the ones DTG had in the 66).
Any chance nuclear flask trains operated there during the 80s as that would work with WCMLOS especially if the 20's are in Br blue.
The DRS class 20s have remodelled ends, with modified light clusters. Skyhook would have to create multiple versions of the class 20 if you wanted to cover 1980s routes, because they would have "Domino" headcode boxes back then. DRS modified class 20 1980s BR class 20 with "Domino" headcode marker lights. (Again, not my photos)
The moment I saw the handrails I thought, that looks like the nose end of a Chopper… Also the tone of blue paint looks like the tone DRS uses.
Ok it's a DRS Class 20, sorry a DRS Cl*** 20 :p I would assume that a Vol 5 cargo pack would be either new RHTT or flasks, the only issue really being where to run them. I think they covered parts of the ECML on RHTT duties, certainly up in the Doncaster area (seen them myself up there at Barnetby). As for flasks, well again where to run them, especially if it is era appropriate. If they were BR era liveries then of course WCMLoS would be ideal but don't forget that the flasks heading from Crewe/Heysham going north would come off at Carnforth and go around the coast, likewise the stuff going towards M'boro and Scotland would go along the coast to Carlisle, so maybe give us 2-3 miles to run them. We shall just have to wait and see, while it is a shame that it is just another loco that we've already got, hopefully it will have improvements that make it worth it - I literally just had some faith restored today when I got the 158
Back in 1999, three DRS Class 20's made it all the way to Kosovo. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kosovo_Train_for_Life
Not quite. The SWR Desiros don'y have cant lines and presumably overhead stickers as they don't go anywhere with overhead lines. Weirdly Southern's 377s do, even though most go nowhere near overhead electrification.
If they are being dragged dead half-way across the country behind a locomotive, for refurbishment, servicing or repair work they do. https://store.steampowered.com/app/...d_3_Rail_Operations_Group_BR_Class_377_AddOn/ Nice try, but no cigar for you.
That one is particularly weird. That isn't in service though. If there was the possibility that they could be dragged under wires the 450s would too, but they don't. Also, the train in that DLC is a 375 which all do work under wires in service.
Rail Industry Standard RIS-2715-RST It's a mandatory requirement for all BR rolling stock. Read section 2.2 "2.2.3 A 'Danger: electricity' warning sign as defined in The Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1998 − Statutory Instruments, 1996 No. 341 (Schedule 1), with the supplementary text 'Overhead Live Wires', shall be fitted adjacent to any steps, ladders or other vehicle feature that when climbed on, could result in the user encroaching beyond the warning line." https://consultations.rssb.co.uk/_entity/sharepointdocumentlocation/c5d6282f-3430-ed11-9db1-0022489d699a/2ab10dab-d681-4911-b881-cc99413f07b6?file=09. RIS-2715-RST issue 1 draft 3.pdf Please direct your complaints to them if you have a problem, as I didn't write the rulebook.
I spoke to my uncle who drives them, and yes they do have the overhead warnings stickers. However, they don't have cant lines.
I wonder if it is intended for a route that has not yet been revealed? Maybe the Cumbrian Coast line? Or a West Yorkshire Metro route, where the DRS locos ran flask and RHTT accordingly.
Or how about an East Coastway remaster with extension to Ashford that also covers the branch down to Dungeness Power Station! Would love that!
And the 377/7 also used on the WCML. SouthEasterns 375/6 also have a pantograph that I don't believe has ever been used. In terms of the add of Skyhooks, I'd imagine it might be a while off yet, but must contain some sort of Nuclear wagons included to go with the 20s.
I dont suppose any news on this yet,i dont know if i may have missed something somewhere.Been away from the forum for a while.
I wonder if it’s connected to screen for the most recent roadmap, maybe it’s going to be a route and loco (to be honest I have no clue if the screenshot is of a already existing route or not)
That's not Penzance on the WCL? I haven't driven that part in awhile. It SHOULDN'T be because there's no place for all that freight to go to that station, but they do some weird stuff in screenshots. Given how closely it resembles that area though... Riviera line maybe? Or something in that region of Cornwall?
Tbh I thought it was the Dawlish Sea Wall from that picture, but I'm awful at geography and have no clue where that even is - and before anyone says, yes I know it's in Dawlish lol - just no clue where that actually is relative to WCL
The confusing part is the lack of over head wires I’m pretty sure that’s basically no places like that on modern west coast main line. tbh I don’t play the route so could easily be apart of it
100% positive just past Burntisland towards Markinch. Here is my recreation of the shot. Even the inflateables match.
It would be good if it was a Nuclear Flask DLC,though im not sure which route it would run on.I suppose in the scheme of things it wouldnt matter too much maybe.
Dawlish is in Devon which is East of the WCL route. It sits on the south coast between Exeter and Paignton.
Yeah that's pretty convincing. Just don't associate the beach and sun umbrellas with Scotland usually =-)
Just to debunk any theories the Cargo Line screenshots depicting the train on Fife Circle and what looks like a modern Carlisle timetable are purely illustrative and are not hints of any other projects. Fife Circle doesn't even have freight services so that would be kinda silly. Proof:
