hi all just out of interest has anyone caught barbel yet ? as I’ve not come across them yet and if u have what set up did u use or what would u recommend
Yes size 4 hooks. I like the ones designed for silt. Seem to have the most luck with them for pretty much everything
A good spot for them is costa carpa at lago del mundo but you have to have that dlc. I just got a couple more one of them on link the other on the 20 mm tiger nuts floating.
Hi Mousaka and REDbull addict!!! I am in need of some tricks to catch barbel in the canal of England. I hope you can help me, with tips and maybe sweet spots/times/weather etc? I tried all the above: hook 4, sweet corn or essential cell, on sand or in weed with correspondenting hooks. All I catch are the pigies of the water: carp and even some rudd, bream and others. I try in the canals first because I want to have my stats on catching all fish in the canal... I only need the barbel. Thank you (both?) in advance!
Grand canal doesn't have as many barbel as the other bodies of water so they are not caught as often. If you are trying to target barbel you will still catch the other species. Try this pick smaller hooks so say a 6, 8, and a 12 try a banofee on the 6 hook since it’s bigger. Try a small tiger nuts floating probably would be better and try cut worm or a worm of some sort on small hook. Also can try the smaller boilies. Use silt hooks because it’s silt everywhere pretty much there. I still haven’t caught jack or Jill but have been catching barbel pretty consistently when fishing there. The barbel seem to randomly spawn every where so I don’t really see a peg preference but I would say at either end would probably be where I would start. Hope this helps and keep grinding you will get one before you know it. Waldsee has them also but they are real hard well at least for me to nail them.
Assuming you have the dlc, costa carpa in lago del mundo is a nice location for them. Two more have recently joined my collection; one is floating on 20 mm tiger nuts, while the other is attached to a link. cookie clicker
