I have studied all the S-Bahn services presented, on this route in TSW5. Services S3, S4, go via Schifferstadt to Germershein and Karlsruhe, and S1 and S2 go to Kaiserslauthern and beyond. But in the simulator, they take a detour.
That's because they've used a construction timetable on MKN, where most services skip Schifferstadt. They've probably chosen to not represent a normal timetable, as many S-Bahn services (e.g. S1 & S3) run combined between Schifferstadt and Mannheim, and are split/combined there with one EMU running towards/from Kaiserslautern and the other on towards/from Speyer. I guess that TSW isn't capable of representing splitting trains in the timetable (at least that easily) and DTG therefore decided to mostly skip Schifferstadt. PS: Example from the current real-life timetable:
Jo_Kim Thanks again, very insightful! Perhaps you can help me with one more question? Halfway between Haßloch and Neustadt-Böbig in both directions, there are two El 2 signals present: They don't seem to serve any purpose... at least I couldn't figure it out yet. There's no El 1 signal ahead of them, so I guess it's not a Schutzstrecke?
That can't be it, at least not generally, since there are splitting services on Southeastern and I think on other routes too...
I also noticed the two El 2 but the missing El 1 - I didn't try to ignore it and did the procedure each time, maybe nothing would happen since here are no post about "train losing power/not accelerating anymore" ...
Probably in this place in reality there is a neutral insert. But they didn't implement it in the simulator, just as they didn't use the correct sequence of characters before neutral insertion. We only see the end of neutral insertion marks on both sides.
The first sign is a switchable sign that can show both El 1 and El 2. It is linked with the connecting switch (not modelled in TSW) that links the two feeding sectors from Kaiserslautern and from Mannheim, which meet at this point. Now normally such a point where two feeding sections meet doesn't require a neutral section, as at least in Western Germany, the OHLE is fed via a central network, which means that all sections are synchronized and therefore there is no danger of a voltage jump when crossing between the sections. Here we have a special case, as the Mannheim feeder is getting its power directly from the power station in Mannheim, whilst the feeder in Kaiserslautern is getting its power from Saarbrücken and has a connecting line to Bingen (near Mainz). This is the only connection between the power station in Saarbrücken to the rest of the network. If this line is shut off for any reason, the station in Saarbrücken and therefore Kaiserslautern are no longer synchronised to the rest of the network, which could result in a phase change when crossing between the two sections. Therefore the two feeding sections can be decoupled here and then you'll need to shut off the MCB when crossing the section.
Hello everyone, In a follow-up to my post #229, I noticed the incorrect signal designations at Kaiserslautern Hbf station: The main signals directly at the platform – in the direction of Landstuhl/Homburg(Saar)/St. Ingbert/Saarbrücken – are intermediate signals and are called, for example, S101, S102, S103. Only the subsequent signals are the station's exit signals and are called P237, P39, P40, P41, P103 accordingly. In this context, may I ask whether any changes have been made in this area (between Kaiserslautern-Pfaffwerk and Hochspeyer) (e.g., replacement of the platform roofs, ZZA displays and lettering, as well as adjustments to the elevation profile on the block section)? If a fundamental facelift were carried out here, it would be mine immediately. To be honest, it's not worth the money to me as it is. I wish you all a wonderful day and greetings from West Palatinate (Germany - Rhineland-Palatinate). Manuel
Perhaps there is a resource where you can study the diagrams of specific stations? When compiling Buchfahrplans, I sometimes have controversial questions about the type of some installed signals. It is not always possible to determine from the route implementation in TSW whether the signal is Sbk or Bksig. There are also questions about input, intermediate, and output signals.
By the way, I personally liked this route. I have already made dozens of flights on it. However, half of them were necessary for scheduling.
In general, there are many details by which you can determine the type of signal just by looking at it without any signalling plan. But if you want to get the track plans for specific stations, you can find them on trassenfinder.de, the website where you can book train paths on the DB network. But as the handling of this website can be a bit difficult I'd recommend using this site: https://stellwerke.info/stw/ Here you can search for signal boxes in Germany and the option "Externer Link zum aktuellen Gleisplan im DB-ISR" will get you the PDF directly.
Jo_Kim, you are a wellspring of information! Many thanks On my first run with the 425, I noticed the first of the two signs at the last second, and panicked... "Did I miss the El 1? I still have power... nothing bad happened. Let's just carry on"
Just for the log: When I find/do/finish a route task, the displayed text is in English (my OS is ENG, my game is set to DEU)
How is this route these days? Did most of the critical issues get cleaned up? Thinking about grabbing it
I got it with the discount and like it quite a lot, but there are still some problems - e.g. I've had more than one timetable job that ended with Mannheim Hbf clogged up because of some pathing issue causing trains to get stuck, there is still a lighting problem in a segment of a tunnel towards K'lautern and some bad geometry on the tracks between Ludwigshafen Mitte and Hbf.
A small (but cool) feature I noticed in this route is that they made it so that even in timetable mode the date is the correct year for when the route is set (2013) so if you pick March 31 your PIS screens and data screens will show March 31 2013. Most other routes use today’s year no matter what in timetable mode so even when they are set in the past the screens will all show 2025, and only the scenarios are set for the correct year.
We still don’t appear to have the two. BR103 rail tours. Selecting them has you spawn randomly across the route on foot and, having searched the route, there doesn’t appear to be a 103 anywhere
Do you have Linke Rheinstrecke and Mittenwaldbahn both installed? Or possibly playing on a gen 8 console?
When in Kaiserslautern Hbf, on the stairs to platform 2, trying to pass the passenger who is standing on the stairs, you drop down in to earth!
It's been a while since I've been there IRL, perhaps someone more familiar with the area can enlighten me... Are the signals U8, U9, U10 (southern main signals of platforms 8 to 10) at Ludwigshafen Hbf really not supposed to have PZB magnets? I think I can even see some on Google Maps:
I also noted this, and one of the replies said it could be a leftover sign from back when there used to be a neutral section there
a little question - on BR 425, can the indicator brightness be adjusted? the usual buttons dont seem to be active
not sure if this was listed here: an S2 service out of Mannheim, 08:24 as you are heading out of Neustadt a.d.W. Boebig to Neustadt, there is a yellow signal, you acknowledge it, and even if you slow down to 40 or less, one of these magnets is bugged, because it gives instant Zwangsbremsung: only solution I have found so far is to use PZB override or is this like on Frankfurt Fulda during some services where you approach Hanau and you get a yellow with that white dot? has anyone done this or similar service and can you tell me if this is bugged or I just misunderstood a signal before these magnets? would like to make sure before I make a fool of myself for reporting sth I just misunderstood
A little update - thanks to save game, I have tested this specific magnet, at 40 kph I got Zw., at 35 kph I also got Zw.... at 30 kph I got across... which is... weird? cos the board at the previous yellow doesnt indicate a lower speed than 40 kph... so at 40 kph you should get across these magnets just fine, but instead you got an arbitrary speed limit to let you across?
I noticed it too, happens on many 425 services heading this direction it seems. I noticed it on 3 other services already and haven't done the 8:24 one yet. PZB override is a good workaround, but it shouldn't happen at all in the first place. By the way, the exact same error with the same workaround appears when approaching Mannheim Hbf, at least the higher numbered platforms. The culprit there is the 500Hz magnet right before the large overpass, just ahead of the station.
Yep can confirm you fall through the stairs for ever and ever. I was still falling after leaving it for 10 minutes it was surreal.
PS5 It's a shame that even after several warnings and several updates, the glowing texture in the tunnel near Frankenstein couldn't be fixed.
Can confirm this, also on PS5 with both installed. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/db-br-103-railtour-on-pfälzische-ludwigsbahn-broken.89488/
The London commuter line has also been subject to sudden drops into the Earth's core while in operation near Brighton Station since its launch.
PS5 Pro Drive discussed this, starting the service with ICE-T "deletes" the service with BR612 in operation.... I found out that the Dresden Riesa map was doing it for me.... without Linke Reheinstrecke and DLC BR363 installed
This Route has multiple graphic issues on Mannheim Hbf and Ludwigshafen Mitte where the Depot Services is.
PS5 - an issue with Timetable Mode. The timetable selection screen shows a different selection of available trains when launched at different times. The only thing that’s immediately noticeable is that the ICE-T is sometimes there and sometimes not there in the menu. From now on I’ll make a note of what is there on each load up of the game to see if there’s anything else that comes and goes. Without access to a PC build (which I assume works flawlessly) it’s impossible for me to know exactly what should be there. I know the ICE-T should always be there so that’s something I can spot easily when it isn’t. Other things could be missing that I just don’t know should be there. The shunter services on Frankfurt-Fulda don’t show up in the timetable menu anymore so it’s not an issue that’s just confined to this route.
BR425 RE(38934) 17:44 No green departure signal ? The solution ! I was stuck at the beginning of the journey at Mannheim Hbf because the departure signal did not switch to green. In the end it turned out that a TGV was stuck ahead of me and blocking my route forever… If you have the same problem, you can either switch to the map and remove the TGV 9552: Or quit TSW and rename the TS2Prototype-WindowsNoEditor-MarseilleAvignon.pak in the DLC folder to TS2Prototype-WindowsNoEditor-MarseilleAvignon.pak.BACKUP so that this route is deactivated. Then it should work next time ! Probably with the next TSW Update, this route will be added again, so you have to erase the new PAK file.
Are you sure that you pressed PZB Override because when the yellow 1000Hz light is lit, you can't override ? For me it looked like either there were 2 magnets too much or the Signal is missing. So I pretended that there is a yellow signal at these 2 magnets. I pressed PZB Acknowledge and got through at 40 km/h without Zwangsbremsung ! But it's a bit weird because after that I tried to get over the magnets with 30 km/h without PZB Acknowledge and it worked too. Looks like DTG invented a new invisible signal that can either be passed at 30km/h or at 40km/h with PZB Acknowledge...
