I know the first route has only just come out but seeing as it’s getting positive reviews why not try and suggest another Dutch route now? Think of this route as a part 2 to the Groningen - Zwolle route. TLDR: -88km -15 stations -Very busy & dense -Possible new train DDZ emu -ICE 3 Ai -More ICM & SNG action -Adress feedback from first Dutch route The route between Zwolle & Utrecht runs for 88.41Km (54.94 miles) and connects the 3 major cities of Zwolle, Amersfoort & Utrecht and has a total of 15 stations. This route sees a mix of both Intercity & commuter traffic as well as international DB ICE 3’s at Utrecht and a freight yard at Amersfoort (possible expansion) Utrecht: Amersfoort: Trains: The ICM & SNG Sprinter can come as part of this route as the ICM will just continue its services from Groningen whilst the SNG has separate sprinter services do return trips between Zwolle & Utrecht. But I also have a new train to suggest. The DDZ (DubbelDekkerZonering) is also an Intercity emu which performs services from Groningen as far as Rotterdam. It’s a double decker train that also has a wheel as a power controller much the BR 103 & 110 So why this route? Well as I said earlier I think this is a good continuation point from the first route and it address some of the criticisms I’ve seen like it being boring or not having enough stations, this route has a lot more stations, is much denser and you get the magnificent Utrecht Centraal Station.
the cool part about this route is for mayority of the time you run next to the veluwe forest which is the largest forest in the netherlands and also run thought the utrechtse heuvelrug which is the second largest forest and national park in the netherlands
that dosto EMU and the route description sound so nice ... after playing a lot of Zwolle - Groningen I want more Dutch content, and I think I am not alone
As I said in another topic, I think this route is rather boring. It's a lot of forest along almost the entire route. I don't think it makes an interesting drive. Just doesn't have the variety in scenery.
whaaat? I am not a scenery guy, but I am enjoying it a lot, since a lot of driving in ICM is spent watching the scenery ... and I like it a lot, especially the canaals, the wind turbines portion is super nice... dunno, for me the scenery is one of the highlights here, and I usually dont pay much attention to it... since the route is pretty straight, this is what elevates it for me... and has enough speed changes to keep interesting ... and both trains are really cool, except the rolling resistance issue thats been brought up here, which can be a bit annoying, but I assume that someone from DTG will eventually come into one of these threads and clear this up, if it is supposed to behave that way
btw it isnt only forest its also utrecht itself which has good building scenery and between amersfoort and hardewijk is mainly farmland but then afetrwards then it becomes forest so there is allot of different scenery so
we could maybe as new both intercity and sprinter get this train aswell the ddar since they ran over the entire line untill like covid or smt
Impressive idea but this is simply extending the existing Dutch route to where it meets the Hollandstrecke Duisburg Hbf Utrecht Centraal route. Which is actually the missing piece connecting Utrecht Zwolle Groningen to Hauptstrecke Rhein-Rhur. Looking at the ruling stock they fit onto the existing Dutch route. Well the existing dutch route can be extended eastwards too Oldenburg Central Station
