Following the layer discussion on ECML, I have once again installed and played this route on my PS4. I also installed MML and the Class 700. Don't know if the following is a bug or a feature.

If you start the game BEFORE everything is installed (i.e. download shows "ready to play" but not completed), you can select the 700 to drive, but it is not possible to select the EMT Class 43 to drive. The 700 does not show up as AI though.

If you start the game AFTER everything is installed, you can NO LONGER select the 700 to drive, but the EMT Class 43. Again, the 700 does not show up as AI.

We know that the 700 does not appear as AI on SEHS Extended, either, when driving certain other locos. So this is just another indication that the layer system is broken, particularly with that train. Yes, I am aware of the limitations of Gen8, but that does not explain the difference between the two constellations described above.

So, at the end of the day, what should the layer situation on ECML on Gen8 look like? Is the 700 supposed to be there or not?

Oh, on PS5 everything works just fine.

The reduced timetable doesn't have it, but the full timetable should.

As far as I'm aware, gen 8 and gen 9 shouldn't be different for this route.

I don't understand why current gen have two separate timetable on some routes

I see. So now it is missing in both timetables. Compared to Gen9, also less static stock.

No hard feelings. I guess that is what Gen8 can do. Possibly also a tradeoff, because now the much requested 158 is in fact playable and AI on ECML. Which is good.

It was a way for old gen to cope with the routes, by removing the majority of layers except for the main trains.

Interestingly enough, the 700 AI appears in the layer selector.

Can anyone tell me at what time an AI 700 should be at Peterborough on PS4?

I checked the arrival and departure times here:

    https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/wonterails-service-mode-timetables.17878/page-5#post-805483

    But no 700.

Again, if it is not possible then it is not possible. But if so, please, please, please DTG remove the 700 from the layer selector. And please make clear that it is not there. Otherwise, the route feels bugged. Not to mention people buying the 700 to have it as AI. Problems on SEHS, now on ECML, so please make clear what you get and what not. Thank you.

On the PS4 Pro, the most layers I was ever able to get as playable or AI on the ECML were the EMT 43 & 158, WSR 47/4, Scotsman and a metric tonne of Class 66.

It says I should see the TL 700 and Northern 323 as AI but I've never spotted them.

For context - I would play the full timetable but just turn off the static stock at Doncaster so it didn't crash
