After assurances that z fighting would not occur on new trains/locos on xbox, here we are again with z fighting occuring on the text on the control panel of the Class 153. Not only is old content bugged, with DTG failing to correct it, we now have new content - when they have promised for the issue not to occur moving forwards - with the z fighting issue! It's exasperating. Failure to act to rectify previous mistakes. Failure to uphold guarantees moving forwards. It's a disgrace and so disappointing to pay good money for a product with the same old things repeating and repeating.

Agreed, DTG Matt assured us that going forward from the launch of TSW5, there would be no more z-fighting on new trains added on Xbox (trains that launched with TSW5 unfortunately still had it), yet here we are, and this continues to be promised every time it gets mentioned on stream, yet nothing changes.

Would be nice if they took their time to at least fix all of the trains with the problem for TSW6 perhaps?

I guess Matt no longer plays on his Xbox Series S, otherwise how could he not have noticed it?

That's disappointing to hear. That was my deal breaker now with buying any more dlc for xbox.

In the last roadmap, it was said that there is something like 20 beta testers on Xbox. Is this is issue not being reported by them? Or is it being reported and just ignored?

I must admit I don't recall it coming up but it doesn't help that the xbox beta testers don't get *that* much time to play the build unfortunately due to how the beta process works on Xbox where the content has to be virtually finished and certified before we can get a build out to them. Which doesn't help.

I think I recall you mentioning the cause some time ago, Matt. But it has escaped me. Was it something to do with decals needing to be adjusted in distance from one another? It's weird that 99% of the problem, involves text/labels in cabs.

Text and labels in the cabs are done using decals - they're not textured onto the material of the desk itself or it would be either way too low res or the texture would take up massive amounts of ram for no good reason. So you plain texture the main part and then put high res decals where you need them.

Xbox then does something odd and maths works differently (rounding difference i suspect) so that where on all other platforms the decal is z-ordered correctly, on the xbox, it's z-fighting. The only solution is to "lift" the decal a fraction off the surface.

    Matt.

Ah ok, thank you for the explanation. Is this finally something the team are looking to address? I understand things like memory errors etc have to take priority. But it would be really nice to fully enjoy the game on an equal level to other plaforms.

It's on the NS ICMm3, on the very left of the dashboard, where it says Lit Cab Max.

The SNG3 - mABk has it on the smaller of the two panels to the left of the driver's seat, all four screws flicker, as well as the entire grill to the lower left of that - the grill on the opposite side of the cab suffers from it just as badly.

The four screws on the panel with the ABC buttons to the left of the third screen also flicker.

All this was noted on both trains whilst just doing their opening driving tutorials on the Training Center.

Off topic, but several tutorials, including the one for the SNG3, mention decreasing the throttle using the LT (Xbox), this is incorrect, it is RB (for this particular training module at least).

Additionally, every single use of the word "receive", is spelt incorrectly, ignoring the I before E except after C rule (with some exceptions, of course!).

Is there a way to enrol into the beta program DTG Matt , on Xbox specifically?

As someone with far too much time on their hands, I would very much like to help contribute to helping TSW in any way possible.

So, it begs the question, why is this still happening? There must be a reason.

...and it only started with TSW2. Before that it it didn't exist. So much of my content... hundreds of pounds worth...I no longer play because if it. It's not a small unnoticeable issue. It's extensive and it's destroyed my enjoyment and immersion in the game. Layered content is also unusable in the newer routes as the problem persists unfixed. I can't become excited about future developments such as the remastered GWE, as I'm sure the flickering in the HST will be awful. It's my first consideration when purchasing content...and it really shouldn't be

I feel exactly the same. Yes it didn't happen before tsw 2. I can't understand why it's been left unattended for so long. Some locos like the 323 only have it on the fuse panel. Not ideal, but not so annoying as I'm looking forwards when driving. Others, like the GWE HST are terrible.

Weird also, that when the train is stopped, so does the Zfighting. Starts again as soon as the train moves.

At this point, I'd say respectfully, that re-raising with the team, clearly isn't enough. A more robust qa process for this needs putting in place. It's already 4 years overdue.

Ideally, although this will never realistically happen, they need to set aside a dedicated team to go back and fix every single issue of z-fighting in the game.

We paid just as much as other platforms for the same content, yet it is seriously hobbled.

Almost like another preservation crew would be ideal. But like you say, unlikely to happen. Yes, we pay the same as other platforms and get the worst iteration of the game.
